JLC is the watchmakers watch, their prices went quite up in the past couple of years. I think there is a great value in these True seconds watch, and the Ultra Thin Power Reserve. Thanks Bill for the video.
I really enjoy your videos. Would you consider a JLC Master Ultra-thin Perpetual Calendar ? I've been contemplating one for a while now.... In steel with a black dial! Thanks for your reply in advance !
While I'm not a fan of Perpetual Calendar watches (have to re-set after running out of power), the JLC is one I'd also choose. My favorite is still the PC from H. Moser et Cie-easy to re-set, King Son. Take care, Bill
I personally think the Chopard Classique (ref. 16/1168) is very underrated. Its a solid gold dress piece with a 818/4 JLC ebauche movement. Can usually be bought around 2500 to 3000 USD!
A good vintage JLC time only, powermatic or even a early memovox can often sell the same or less than a vintage tudor with their off the shelf movements, which is crazy. JLC has it all as a company, the history, capable of making almost any kind of watch...and clocks, all in relatively low volumes compared to Rolex omega etc. Marvellous company!
Good video Bill! Agree totally with what was said about getting value with JLC. They have a marketing problem though with their own branding...and in recent times, I think the divide between them and marque brands is growing. They need a Meylan to work for them! As for the dual time with asymmetric dials, many models from different brands have a "JLC Inside"....think of the older APs (JLC 889), VCs (yup, 889 again) for the dual time, and non-dual time models- many other brands including PP, Cartier as well as Chopard too (as you did mention).
Great video Bill. I was actually on C24 last night searching for van clef & arpels and found a lovely chronograph which says it has a JLC899. Intrigued I delved into calibres only to find that the 899 does not have a chronograph function! Now horribly confused!
Hi Cubatea...the caliber is JLC889, but that doesn't help much either since it is not a chronograph either. My hunch is that it's the 889 with the dubois depraz chronograph module. Just a guess, though. Take care, Bill
Cubatea, I believe the correct JLC is 889, but it too has no chronograph, either. My hunch is that a dubois depraz chronograph module was added to the JLC889. Take care, Bill
Before I played the video, I just knew you were going to feature the Geophysic. 😂 One watch that I think is underrated is the Master 8 Days Perpetual 1618420 with manual wind caliber 876.
@@watchartsci the one you showed on the video. Dual time …. Love it. Thanks. U may recall I also purchased Parmigiani Metrographe based on your review …. VC Arpels dual time is beautiful and received great compliments from colleagues except for Mrs who thinks I’m out of control 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Rasmus, I'm using Beta software-Adobe has me as a Beta tester, and while I'm not supposed to use Beta software, I do it because there's no better way to find any bugs. Take care, Bill
I bought a new Polaris Chronograph in April and am having troubles with it already. Wind up it up and it doesn't start till I give it a good shake and even then it'll stop again shortly afterwards. Also, the buttons don't always catch when pressed. I'm going to have to bring it back to JLC when I can get into London. Surely it can't need a service already just three months after opening the box
The Reverse is a classic and nothing wrong with other JLC watches that get a lot of attention, Tuna. A little light on the more obscure never hurts though. Take care, Bill
🔥👌🏾I want Jaeger LeCoultre to create a piece unique for me: start with the modern master control memovox, but NO DATE, all applied numerals, .925Ag/Al alloy case, silver dial, and gold rotor for the exhibition case back. I want a deployant strap buckle also in .925Ag/Al. How much would you all pay Jaeger LeCoultre for this?💸💰
G'evening Bill 🙃 . Everyone knows that some of the best world timers available from a god tier watchmaker come from Casio 😋 . I have 15 or 20 myself and 3 or 4 of them are World timers 🤥🤣 . Also the Orient world Diver is a GMT with 2 crowns, 1 button & an inner rotating bezel w/ the cities of the world around the outside of the dial. You should really check it out, I love mine 🤓 ..
Hey Bill, great video. You really can’t go wrong with A JLC. I think the av Jo doesn’t see the value partly due to depreciation. Lucky we know depreciation is the savvy buyers best friend. All the best, Ed
Good grief, Ed, if people want to 'invest,' they should head for the Stock Market. If they want to collect watches, they should learn about horology. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci I agree but av Jo has heard Rolex are good (true) and they don’t depreciate (only true for a few models) so they make an association. We enthusiasts are the few not the masses.
I loved the simple style of the first 3 hand watch but the date complication ruins it for me. It is idiosyncratic, subjective, a matter of personal taste. That's why I prefer vintage. The only exception, I like vintage chronographs, I have a 1940s Pierce chronograph
@@MrPolowu JLC is currently rudderless. They increased their prices where the watch market is dead. Good luck with this watch mate. The jumping seconds a great watch but discounted for a reason …not a money maker for RICHMOND. It’s still way over priced on a secondary market. JLC needs to revamp the brand
You can’t go wrong with JLC! Thanks Dr.!
Javi! I agree-good brand, and under-appreciated means better prices for collectors. Take care, Bill
Cool watch talk Bill. That gyrolab tru second movement, wow, never saw that before. Thanks for sharing.❤

Yes, they are the 'watchmakers watch.' They're about horology since they started as a movement maker just like Agenhor, Abdul. Take care, Bill
Spot on Abdul. I have had the Ultra Thin for 15 years - still gives me the same feeling. It helps JLC have kept the line only playing with size a bit.

Bill, how do you feel about a JLC powered "everyday" watch for someone with an active lifestyle subject to shock, vibration, bumps and the like?
A beautiful selection Bill. I have always thought of it as a shame that the Reverso seems to overshadow the best of what JLC has to offer.
