Yes I work for swift and I am a mentor the reason for the landing gear on the other side is when you hook up you will walk around the trail to do a pretrip as well as when you unhook you can see if you missed anything the new trailers all have the handles on the driverside they start with 21 or 22

@@stalkedillegally1896 nah, they want to make sure drivers actually walk that side of the truck.
It's also done as a safety measure. If your broke down on the side of the road, you wouldn't be in the road lowering the landing gear.
thanks for the vlog - I am a new CDL driver and done a couple cross border runs from Ontario to Indiana and enjoying it so far and learning that speaking up is a key to getting a response sometimes from people.

depends on the manufacturer of the trailer ive had landing on left or right side
The landing gear crank handle can be mounted on either side.... historically the crank handles Were always on the driver side!

Safest place. I don't put my ratchet straps on the drivers side because when I have to pul over on the side of the road to check, I'm not out in the traffic doing it.

Oh no we were in that but up in NY! It was a little scary, I’m glad they shut it down before anything bad happened on the roads

My brother works for xpo and all their trailers are on the right side excuse is if you have to disconnect the truck on the interstate it’s safer and won’t get run over while cranking the landing gear down on the driver side safety safety ✌️
That is their way of making sure that you do a routine assessment of the truck and the trailer if everything's all on one side then you are MA then you are just complacent cause you can just get out your driver's door look OK it's good and then not do anything else so it is kind of smart on their part to do that
Them pork steaks looked mighty tasty. You ladies are eating easy better foods vs the heart-attack in a sack truck stop foods. That's great to see. Also good on you for speaking up at your delivery. It's waayyy too cold to stand outside for any given length of time like that. I run out of Minnesota. Delivering on the neighboring states. And when it's cold I wait five minutes outside then start moving to warmer locations weather it's my truck or somehow inside the building.
The operating shaft for trailer Jack should be reversible since it it full width of trailer.
A landing gear crank handle can be mounted on either side of the trailer... on the passenger side it makes a driver walk around only in theory... Intermodal chassis have crank handles on either side or both... they say there's no Rhyme or Reason!
i think the trailer jack winch on the R side is for SAFETY... THE RIGHT SIDE AWAY FROM TRAFFICS...
Hey kid put seasoning in zip lock gallon bag oil chips drop in shake like hell. Extra seasoning already left in bag. Works for shake N bake chops great also. Be safe and be careful

You are supposed to do an inspection every time you hook to a new trailer anyway to ensure it is roadworthy (which is not a given for Swift.)
Another thing, on the rare occasyou pick a trailer up from the side of the street, most often having it on that side means cranking the landing gear up on the side away from traffic.

The trailer next to was not a swift trailer and it had the landing gear in the same side as the swift truck.

Its not a big deal. I guess because I run containers N the chassis landing gear be on the passenger side sometimes 🤷🏾
So would love to know more about what you cook in the truck. You thought truck stops or yards would have more light in as at night it is supper dark. Lol
They may be comfy foot wear but not warm when it is cold though.

Well stepping in snow in them is definitely not recommend that is for sure. Hope you feet did not get to cold in them though.

My boy said the landing gear is on the passenger side for safety so if ur dropping ur landing gear on the side of the road ur not in traffic
Ive been told that if you have to disconnect on the side of the highway then you arent with all the traffic. Im not sure how much truth there is to it but just what ive been told.
