I just wanted to say, I miss VCQs. Nothing takes the sting out of going to work on a crappy Monday morning like a little Dan & Mick. I know they were a lot of work to film and edit, so I understand why you guys don't do them, but I miss them.
You guys are right the guys at Diamond have great ears. There's a few compressors and firebursts I assembled floating around Japan and Germany from my brief work placement with them in '05. I was lucky enough to see the memory lane in prototype stage. I always love seeing people enjoy their pedals.
Very, very cool custom artwork! Well done, guys. So many pedals have perfunctory graphics, the ones who actually put some creative energy into the visual aesthetics really stand out.
I'm happy to finally see the diamond memory lane jr on TPS. I've had this pedal for over 5 years now and never once thought about selling it. I'm surprised that it is not more widely used/talked about. They also currently sell for a very reasonable price on the used market.
Now that's a new TPS T-Shirt - "The Legend of Tonehedge" with a 1961 burst strat sticking out of a hedge in the background! So much new gear, guys. Very nice. Oh yeah - and there were pedals.....lol
I'm on the way home from work watching this on the train after an all round crummy day. I had to pause after Tonehenge to say thank you for putting a genuine smile on my face today. Kudos gentlemen. Kudos.
After much research and seeing all the high praise, I picked up the Diamond Memory Lane Jr for my very first delay pedal. And I must say, I absolutely love it. There was a small learning curve, but I have found that the MLJr offers gorgeous "analog-ish" delay tones that are SO EASY to dial in. Delay has quickly become one of my favorite effects and so has this pedal. I'd recommend it to anyone. Delay veteran or delay noob, like myself Great episode guys, thanks for featuring it!
Glad you finally got the Ripply Fall on the show! It’s gotta be my favorite dual modulation pedal on the market. There are no bad settings IMO. Just awesome sounds
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, it's just an old strat, it's just an old strat, and what's that he's got for you? 🎤(sorry, just watched a Plant interview ;) 🎸
My other amps start to vibrate in fear! I try and mollify them by saying that they won't be ignored if a new baby comes along but it's no good, the El34s and 6l6s are sensitive things.
I'm already looking forward to Mick's vlog after he buys the '61 strat, falls in love, then wonders if maybe a '59 would be better suited. Haha. Stunning guitar though!
Alex Murphy that delay pedal has kicked all other delays of my board. Sounds AMAZING, and is surprisingly versatile and easy to adjust with your foot. Keep the delay times to the point where you can go from a slap back for rhythm sounds or ambience, to a longer delay for solos and clean passages, all by holding down the tap button. The subdivision switch is super easy to click with your toe, so you’ll be going between them easily. No need for presets, it’s all already there in 0,5 seconds. Best pedal I have bought to date!
TPS: "Probably don't need to talk all day about an EQ pedal..." also TPS: "You guys can't possibly do a whole show on tuners, well we just did." Happy days
RadPastorChad It’s really nice. I use it for acoustic instruments btw. the bass and treble is just graphic: a fixed frequency you can cut or boost. The bass and treble frequencies are perfectly useable. The two parametric mids are very nice. One has a small q: I can search for the exact frequency that gives problems. The other has a wider q. I use that one to boost a nice sounding area a little.
Mick..... your playing was Just fantastic. I especially loved the your phaser demo. Made me want to play, and isn’t that what this is all about. Thanks to both of you. Aloha
Morgan Amp!!!!! Yes!!!! Ive got a Morgan PR36 and it just blows my mind. For a 36w amp it has so so much clean headroom is is soooo loud. One of the best clean sounds I've ever heard. Enjoy yours.
The perceivable jump from mid scoop to mid boost during the jam track on the EQ200 was a great example of the importance of the mid range on a guitar in a mix. Even listening on a phone without headphones the difference was night and cheese ;)
You pulled that strat from a shrubbery; better than receiving it from some watery tart dispensing guitars in a lake. I have the MLjr and the Counterpoint version, as well. Both stellar delays I highly recommend you check out the latter!
Best delay section I ever had was an AD999 + a Memory Lane Jr. I'm seriously considering returning to that set-up. One of the things I really liked was being able to enable tap hold-down to turn on modulation. I believe the new model ML Jr is going to incorporate EQ like the brilliant tilt EQ that was in the original analog ML models.
With that Highlanderesque lightning strike in the Tone Hedge sequence, all I can say is, "There can be only '61." Here for the Ripply Fall. I'm smitten at the tones and staggered at the price. 😳❤️
I’m stoked you guys are using backing tracks. You should look into one of the Digi Tech Trio Deluxe pedals. They are great for jamming and could help make some new loops for each demo you guys do! Thanks for everything you do!
I wonder if the Diamond is a version 3 or something because I don't remember mine having the octave up/octave down deal with the trails and mine was a v2 (maybe it did and I was just ignorant). I never liked the way mine sat in the mix, it was always very much waving its arms saying, "hey!! lookie here!!" Guy I sold it to, sold it pretty quickly too, maybe it wasn't the best example. After many, many delays I settled on a very pedestrian Carbon Copy 10th aniv. Out of everything that I have tried it messed with the original signal the least (read not at all) and sat in the mix the best when using it to expand the sound with a lead tone. I think the repeats of the waza DM-2w are the prettiest but it seemed to add a slight bit of compression, there was a change in tone (v. small) and my tonebender never wanted to play with it at recess. Maybe I'll have to try the ML Jr. again....
Great episode guys!! Man, sounds like that JHS Cheeseball has Billy Gibbons written all over it...Similar to his tones on “Gotta Get Paid” or maybe the Rhythmeen album. And dude, that Strat....love it!! ✌🏻🎸🎼

I like this the cheese ball. I use it in position 2 with an octaver. It's Perfect for intro, solo... creative stuff. I also use it in position 1 to double a rythm guitar in a mix.
....was watching(listening) to this while driving and the audio going through the work trucks stereo and almost got in an accident because I was laughing so hard!!! "Geez mate, how many generations were there? It was only 1961!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cheers chaps, interesting and diverse selection of pedals today, nice. Ripply Fall sounded ace, possibly hard to turn off, luckily I can't afford it right now, yay!...... err ...... oh ...... damn. Tonehedge, a legend is born. :)
Mega pick n mix. Just a joy to hear fine playing. The Big Cheese>The Ripply awesome lead tones. Last but not least this episode gave us a Funk Playing Adquisition Sindrome.
Mick, congrats for the buy! This weekend I went to see a gig of one of my local guitar idols, the man responsible for me starting to play electric guitar and blues, and he saw me in the audience and called me up to play a few songs with him and gave me his strat to play ... it was set all wrong compared to how I have my guitars set, and yet it sounded amazing and was very playable... after the show I ask him about the guitar and he tells me it's an all original 62 strat!!! @@grega1207 haha, well, given how amazing a musician he is, and that he's an idol and somehow a mentor to me, that's the intention, even if he sold the strat :D
Question: some time ago you did a video where you had one of your portable boards set up on a wet dry rig at some conference from off, and were letting famous folk have a go. One of the punters mentioned that the phase alignment between the two amps was outstanding and Mick might have mentioned that to get that is why there were no pedals using ADA converters on the board. Are you saying that the bit of signal time retardation through an ADA pedal muffs the phase in that type of set up? Would that rule out something like the Boss EQ-200 for you in that circumstance, and what difference would you expect to hear between with and without in that scenario? Thanks.
Love my skanky homemade Big Cheese clone. Being a hooligan, I have been known to run it into a Bigfoot octopuss for a full of Asbo cheese melt noise. Only wish it had two foot switches to toggle the cheese mode and the more sedate psycho fuzz.
What power needs for the Boss EQ-200, please??? I,ve got an Orange Two Stroke pedal on my board and, as you´ve endlessly said, having an EQ shaping tool "on board" is kiiiiiller!!!! interested in the Boss because of the preset feature. The Orange pedal have a fantastic feature: It doubles internally the voltage coming into the pedal up to 18V, fact that you notice in terms of (the magical word) "headroom".
Ok so... i've experienced all the great top class delays from all over the years from Vintage deluxe memory man to BOSS DD2, Echopelx, Fulltone Tube Tape Echo and many more... Years by years i thought that there will be no pedal delay ever that can copy and produce clean accurate repeats like the real tapes did back in the time. The differences of the accurate repeats was Huge from pedals to the real thing. Until... I've got this one. The memory lane JR is absolutely phenomenal - The signal path is completely analog and very warm, Diamond used some brilliant digital sampling engine to that version which don't filter the sound at all like other digital engines do. I use it together with "Secret Preamp by Chase Tone - which using the exact circuit and NOS parts of the Echoplex preamp. The results are absolutely unbelievable. The mix of the accurate clean repeats by the Diamond and the warm harmonic circuit tone of the Chase Tone - had left me with no words, the future is right here kicking any ass around with more advantages than before . BTW For some reason the regular Memory Lane Doesn't sounds as good and accurate as that JR version - it used the panasonic MN3005 chip which is great but it felt like its very "cold" and less accurate than the JR version for me. If u have chance to get one and u love warm accurate repeats like the old machines did don't waste your time ! ~

Happy new Strat Mick
