One thing he didn't cover, apparently you can jump before you can attack out of Fox's jab combo. This means that *jump cancelling* Fox's up smash after a jab combo will make the up smash come out much quicker than if you were to just up smash normally. The reason I say this is because the up smash after the jab combo is not always guaranteed otherwise, and if you do it too slowly your opponent might touch the floor and shield before it hits. Hope this helps!
***** I was curious about what you said, so I went and tested if jump came out earlier than up smash after 2 jabs. But the result is they come out on the same frame, which is frame 26. Double jab ends on frame 25. Where did you hear about jump coming out faster than an attack after the jabs?
***** Actually no, only an up tilt follow up is guaranteed. I tested this when Sonic is at 100%. If the Sonic player presses up-B at the right time, the spring hitbox hits Fox 6 frames after the double jab. Fox's up smash would need to be 2-3 frames faster for it to hit. The only way up smash connects is if the Sonic player didn't press up-B fast enough.
***** He also has the slowest walk speed, limits on magic, limits on SPECIFIC magic within a certain time, and limits on his Levan Sword, which isn't active on certain moves unless another is used.
And let's not forget that ZSS infinite business (which was thankfully patched), and the fact that he doesn't have a single move that triggers sliding off an edge...
So annoying being a Robin main sometimes. Now I consider myself pretty good in contrast to the majority of Robins you will find in online matches who don't know what they are doing, but my gosh, why is it that my best character has all these drawbacks!!!
Holy crap the quality of the voice and editing *SKYROCKETED* for this video, it's obvious that you put a ton of work into these videos. Keep up the good work!
EdgeMaster though I'm pretty such the >people get butthurt over jab combo being taken out are fox mains butthurt that they can't trap people for a %100 kill
I'm pretty sure the people who get butthurt about the jabs themselves are mostly casual and the people who got angry are fox mains, but mostly anyone who understands how important it is can sympathize.Fox jabs aren't an issue in competitive smash at all.Larry was the only fox to get to top 8 ceo and only 2 to make it into Top Evo.
LOL if u were that good u wouldn't complain, plus it's fair that everyone knows their character's potential and it's not like everyone can execute this tactic effectively
Leon thatwhitetiger Not for others... Ike, Bowser Jr. and Ganondorf deserve better. D: And don't tell me that I need to switch characters. Tier whoring is already bad enough as is. We don't need more reasons for people to only play top tiers...
This is great because I main Sheik and Fox. I've done jab jab grab quite a lot with Fox, but I didn't know you could combo jabs like this. Thanks, Smash Corner!
Easy: Push a direction when you're hit and your character will move in that direction as much as he/she/it can. DI stands for Directional Influence. No need for a video. Now, something more elaborate: Use DI to escape combos and survive. If you're hit at low percents, always DI away (that is, push the stick to the right if you're hit to the right) This will distance you from your opponent and will help you escape followups. However, at higher percents, DI parallel to the knockback: If you're knocked sideways, DI upwards. If you're knocked Upwards, DI sideways. This will send you in a more angled trajectory, not directly into the blast zone, so you'll probably survive more. I hope this helps
Andrew Larson Not "before" but "when" or "after". The thing is, "when" you're hit, the thing is called Smash DI, and will adjust your positioning by SHIFTING your character around. To do so, move the stick just as if making a Smash attack. You can test this with multihit moves. The classical example is the Smart Bomb: make one explode and flick the control stick repeatedly outwards and you'll escape. By the way, I don't know if Smash DI is still present. If you want to experience it, do it in Brawl or Melee. Now, if you do it "after" getting hit, then is the DI I explained.
And i thought your writing and editing were good in past videos. This one was sublime. keep it up, you managed to make a simple video just awesome to watch!
Every video explains so correctly, also it's an easy way to learn because it has a very good order on every point that is going to be explaint... After all, the video itself is one between images and sound... Excelent job!
So many people upset that it was removed... GUYS. INFINITE COMBOS ARE NOT FUN FOR THE GUY ON THE RECEIVING END. NINTENDO WANTS EVERYONE TO HAVE SOME FUN NOW AND THEN IN ITS FIGHTING/PARTY GAME. GET OVER IT.
As a fox main, I found this INCREDIBLY useful and easy to pull of. I didn't practice this but I found my self using it quite a bit. In battle, I dashed into my opponent and did a small bit of the up tilt combo. But then i comboed into this which brought him to the edge. I used another one of your video's (ledge punishes) and made him grab it twice. Then i did a down smash which killed his stock. I feel like i am going to be using this quite a bit :D
Thx My Smash Corner! Once i saw this technique, I immediately tried it out. With a combo so easy to preform, most opponents will be helpless, especially if they meet this move for the first time. Now I must put it to the test with some CPUs and field test it against other players.
My younger brother learned this the old fashioned way, and the fact that this tech is being featured on this page just goes to show that literally anyone can pick this tech up lol. Love your vids, SC. Keep em coming.
I'd recommend practicing with either Mario, Luigi, or Dr. Mario, because they have the easiest time with it, after that, move to other characters like Villager, you should have it in no time
B-reversing is a pretty easy tech. I don't know if wavebouncing is in this game, but that was a bit harder, still not that difficult though. Just practice the timing, neutral B-reverses are slightly harder then sideB, but once you get the timing and movement down it doesn't take any effort.
CEtro569 Wavebouncing is still in. I hear Mii Gunner can do some absurd shit with it with his Grenade Launcher. And because of the weird way Shot Put works, Mii Brawler can use it pretty well too. Besides them, the only character I see actually using is Sheik, for needles.
The comment section of this tutorials is always sh*t. Everytime I see it is full of people complaining about the new discoveries and begging of more patches that get this techniques out. You people need to ADAPT to the game.
Jesús S. This is late but that is a terrible way of thinking in a fighting game. In smash 5 if there is a character that kills you just by walking would you just learn to adapt to that? No, you would want it patched. There is a reason patches exist. We tried adapting to Bayo, but she was still too good and she was nerfed. That's how it works in a fighting game.
Damn, ZeRo seems to discover allot of new combos. Correct me of I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure he was the one who first discovered Mario's down-throw to up-tilt, up-air, up-b combos. Also that Greninja combo that uses his taunt. That one was so hype!
Remember that other Fox combo you posted that started off with a dash attack comboed into an up-tilt? Use that as the lead-in, and when you get to the double jab, just keep double-jabbing the opponent. In training mode, I managed 0-104% doing that and ending with a grab, pummel and reverse throw, followed by some rapid fire blaster shots.
My heart dropped when I heard my boy Shulk could not escape at any percent! D: What about in Shield form/Jump/Smash since they change his weight properties!?
Thanks so much for posting this video! After watching Shofu do this trick I wanted to do it too But always failed kinda funny cause I was thinking about asking shofu himself to make a video on how to do this XD
This combo i've been trying to do since I saw Shofu doing it but now I know exactly how it works, just subbed for that Thanks really helpful :) also your voice is sexy don't know why
You know what's great about Little Mac's UpB for breaking out of this? Frame 1 of the move has him as invulnerable, similar to Villager's pocket. And this invincibility continues at least as far as the first active hitbox frame, which is either 3 or 4. We couldn't test if he has it past that, since any attack we could launch at him would either miss him past that, or the attacker gets swept into the move. This makes it great as an out of shield option, especially when you consider his shield grab range is poop.
Hey, great video as usual. Couple things I'd like to mention. For starters, it should be noted that characters will fall out at high percentages even when done correctly, making this executable from lower-medium to medium-high percentage range. Second, the "true combo" aspect of this mini loop is substantially more difficult to gauge with the training mode info turned on. Meaning to clock over 4 (2 loops) in my opinion is quite hard. On Lucario, which is said to not be able to escape this combo (and he very well may not), the combo gauge will not move from 1 to 2 until he reaches over 20%. He starts to fall out mid 100's. Not trying to troll, just a few observations. Thanks again.
Hey, I've been messing around with jab combos and the sort lately, and I've noticed something similar to this, but with Dedede's jab 1 and 2. If you time it right, it looks like it can do something similar to this on certain characters, and you can finish it off with an utilt or jab finisher. I could be completely wrong, but it's worth some testing.
I remember seeing Larry Lurr using this very frequently as Apex. I'd honestly say it's a good thing to use to punish bad DI with a follow up since the damage is rather poor due to staling instantly
oh, I got a good tip. While fighting my friend as meta knight I encountered something werid. So we were playing on Windy Hill Zone and I used meta knights down special and slid across the small platform. So here is how its done: So you use his down special in midair but you must encounter ground while invisibile. Then you hold the direction you want to go as soon as you hit the ground. If done correctly you should be sliding across the platform. Also this works on any stage.
...wow, this was uploaded on my birthday no less. I now know a way to troll people using a simple jab... next time I go on For Glory, I'm going to find a Little Mac noob, try this on him or her, and when they get the KO punch, bait them to swing it at me, and then charge an Up Smash and just 0-death or something.
My Smash Corner hey iv been watching your videos from the start bro good job man keep it up. One request if you dont mind. I main olimar do a video about him. Find something interesting about him or maybe other characters that aren't really choosin as much. 8)
Brawl/smash 4 Fox player here. This tech actually existed in brawl too for Fox. It just wasn't nearly as effective because his jab was worse in that game, plus less hitstun. I think lot of Fox players stumbled into this on their own as well; I found it by trying it to see if it still worked like it did in brawl, only to realize its way better now and much more viable.
There are other things Fox can do, since the perfect timing can't be done consistently enough from what I've seen. As Fox, you can wait between each round of jab>straight so the opponent doesn't reach high enough above the ground for the aerial to come out, and take advantage of the 2 frames of landing lag they'll usually have (the upwards DI should help a bit with that, though). You can also notice what they like attempting; mainly airjump and airdodge. If they like to airjump, you can preemptively start chasing into the air with a follow-up from any round of jab>straight. If they like to airdodge (which is actually a thing since this can actually work by messing up the Fox's timing), it allows for a KO smash when read (be wary that people's go-to options change when at KO %, though). Single airjump characters that don't have any quick go-to option to hit Fox between jab rounds are in a LOT of trouble if they waste an airjump (the air circle animation is often noticeable), and can be easily be dsmashed at the ledge. Another note is that utilt does sometimes lead into uair at kill %'s (not sure about the sweetspot though; and utilt in this situation will be a sweetspot if I'm not mistaken). The bread and butter, though, is definitely jab>straight>block>punish. Jab>straight>grab seems to work very often for some reason (people don't jab defensively often enough and they'll just shield; so most players either roll or stay in shield for a moment). Thanks for the video; greetings from Mexico :)
You know, when I look back on videos like this, I sometimes think to myself, "What if this wasn't patched out? Would characters like Ryu or Bayonetta be able to escape?" I'm not sure why I think stuff like this, but I do.
0:05 - "....it becomes a true combo."
Yea, that's one AWESOME and TRUE combo.

***** I LOVE MARIOS UTILT ITS COMFY AND HARD TO USE
And Fox shall claim his place as a high tier once more.
Aw man, I play as Shulk and ROB.
Team Foxic, this video is for you.
Looks like all of my mains cannot get out :( Ah well its a neat little combo and fits Fox perfectly.
I noticed fox's double jab comboed well when I was testing out jab locks
You know, when I look back on videos like this, I sometimes think to myself, "What if this wasn't patched out? Would characters like Ryu or Bayonetta be able to escape?"
I'm not sure why I think stuff like this, but I do.
That's Awsome because Kirby, Jigglypuff , and Yoshi are my main characters
Fox in a labcoat, that's too cute, haha. Brilliant.
My Smash Corner confirmed paper mario character dlc.
I don't know much about wobbling, but the button input kinda reminds me of it
This happened to my Ganondorf when I was competing at my school's smash tournament, but I was able to escape it with Ganon's Up-B
Jabs usually have set knockback. In other words, The Percent or Rage doesn't matter, It will always flinch Characters.
So glad Toon Link, Kirby, and basically everyone I use can get out of it.
Fox's damage is important, because if a character manages to escape or cancel the jab combo with a down tilt or another move, it can punish Fox.
