  • 2008 was probably the closest bars final of this century.Nastia and He Kexin tied where He won the gold, Nastia Liukin took the silver and Yang Yilin the bronze. In this video I will attempt to judge the final in the new COP that was recently released. The whole point of the video is to highlight how drastically the code has evolved rather than diminishing someone's win.

    I don't care much about the adjusted E-score and overall new podium result. But the fact that He Kexin's routine is consistently the hardest (of the 2008 podium) in every COP since then, and a highly competitive one against routines which were designed for their COP... And the fact she did perform it with great execution.
    THAT screams He Kexin supremacy imo.

  • @frankli3802

    These 3 routines plus Tweddle’s 4th place routine can probably still qualify EF in all major competitions in 2022-2024 Olympic cycle. They were so differently designed and exciting.

    • @colesmith7509
      @colesmith7509 Год назад +5

      I’m not sure. The routines were so long that they had more deductions than others. I mean Nastia would NEVER score in the 8s in execution in todays code. The one shown here should’ve scored a low 7 at the absolute best

  • @Mhochul

    Tiebreak procedure was controversial but if Nastia got the gold over He Kexin (or even if they tied tbh) it would've been a highway robbery

    • @maxglendale7614
      @maxglendale7614 2 года назад +22

      Yes. Now looking back, I did not realize that Nastia had many problems especially on the low bar. Amazing how that adjustment on the dismount by He Kexin influences the overall performance. However, we have to keep in mind that Valeri Liukin is a code master master and he would have adjusted Nastia's routine to have the highest D score. There is no way that he would have Nastia's routine valued at 6.3 while another gymnast's D score was 6.6.

    • @josephqualtier961

      Disagree, both had pretty major mistake, kexins lack of hight and bad pak angle. Nastia has the same issue, the both messed up their 1.5 piros. What really distinguished them in the dismount. Remove the dismount nastia wins for me.

    even under the more lenient judging of 2008, it’s inconceivable how consistently these routines (especially Nastia’s) were getting E scores of 9.0 plus.

  • @caterina3902
    @caterina3902 3 года назад +39

    I would have deducted 0.2 for the first two handstands and 0.1 for pike down in yang yilin routine, so that makes it 14.200.
    Nastia had a 0.1 for angle on her healy IMO, and another 0.1 for the handstand in her change to reverse grip before the dismount. This would make her score 14.200 too, and Yang Yilin would win the tiebreaker because of the highest e score

  • @harry4596
    @harry4596 2 года назад +6

    In the 22-24 cop they don't deduct pak amplitude based on angle of catch anymore but height. If center of gravity (basically the hips) goes above the high bar no deductions; at high bar height -0.1; below high bar -0.3

    • @Gazmeizster_Wongatron
      @Gazmeizster_Wongatron 2 года назад +1

      The routines back then were much longer because they had to count 10 skills (bearing in mind the top bar workers would never count anything less than a D skill so a lot of extra B and C skills performed wouldn't have even counted). Plus the average routine back then probably included a lot more kip-cast-handstands than an average routine today, which makes them a lot more tiring.

    Those handstands are soo bad. Also how come Li ya is only an E????!!!!! 😱😱 She literally does a half turn and catches the bar the opposite way!!!!!! Not a L-grip catch like the others. It's literally way harder
    Edit: It should literally be a G..

    • @bluepanther1013
      @bluepanther1013 2 года назад

      She doesn't catch the bar the opposite way. She still catches in L-grip/mixed grip. She just starts turning earlier than others.

    I never understood Nastia’s scores
    She had leg separations on her front giants, her Pak salto was just horrible and usually over arched, her transitions from low to high were weak, her dismount was horrible as well, I think it was more because she had DECENT lines, I feel like had she been in the 2009-2012 code of points of any other after that, she would have never made it onto the podium

    • @30251
      @30251 2 года назад +9

    • @bluepanther1013

      Her lines weren't just decent. More people would've pointed out her form issues if her lines were just decent. Her transitions from low to high weren't weak. She got plenty of height and she didn't have a dead hang.

    • @cyrielle_
      @cyrielle_ 2 года назад +3

      @@bluepanther1013 agree about her lines. By weak low to high transitions I assume they meant to say they're only C, instead of the shaposh 1/2 that are common now. But she did perform them well (and definitely better than Kexin or Yilin). On high bar, both chinese are better than Nastia, same with the dismount.
