    But purlin is continuous beam therefore bending movement formula is different

      The design of purlin is totally as per the is code we are not using any formula by our self.

    Where in code shape factor for Zpy/Zey is given here only shape factor is given for Zpz/Zez

      Zyy has to be taken from steel tables and it has to be multiplied with shape factor 1.125 to 1.14

      It's taken from steel table. ISHB 150.
      It's the value of moment of inertia. You will find it in steel table.

    How you got Zyy at 8:30 and what is R1
    In channel purlin video of yours there also I got same problem

      To learn steel structure, one needs to have a steel table and a code book. The value of Zyy is given in the table. It's standard for each type of section. Please refer to steel table.

      I had added this video so that there would be no any concepts left. As there are mainly two type of purlin asked in exam i.e. I section and channel section. And method to find shape factor is in the design of channel section purlin.

      In the design of channel section purlin you can find the proper use of shape factor from the IS code and the value of shape factor is already given in the code in page 137 and 138 of IS 800.

    Sir good morning I plan to construct industrial shed with 5ton capacity eot crane.shed size is 60 x130 feet width and height 25 feet clear height . please give me suggestion for column flange and Web thickness , rafter flange and Web thickness and also purlin size. Thank you sir.

    i thing ur Load claculation unit is wrong (130*1.5*1) N/m . How is unit N/m... plz explained this..

      Hello dear,
      In the following question we are given the weight of corrugated sheeting as 130N/m2.
      I have done (130*1.5*1)N/m because here 1.5 is the factor of safety.And 1 is for per meter length.
      So (1/m2 * m =1/m).Hope u understood.

    Sir while calculating toatl laod parallel to sheeting why you did not add factor wind laod any reason ... you add it in toal laod noraml to sheeting but you did not add it in parallel why

      When I was in my college I solved it the same way. I went through 3 books which had length process and time consuming from exam point of view. So, I tried this. You can go for it.

      I am extremely sorry for your inconvenience. It is the video when I had just started my channel and at that time i had no idea about the sound. But there are other videos in which sound is good.
      And you will find one video on design of channel section purlin too. Those two type of design are mainly important.

      Hello dear,
      Inorder to calculate Zpz one need to use formula provide in this video which is as per the code.And then we need to assume b and d in such a way that d is twice of b.And the range of d should be between 110 to 150.And automatically if u take 120 or 150 as d the the value of b becomes 60 and 75 respectively.
      And after calculating required Zpz we select a section as per the question whether we r asked I section or channel section.
      Keep in mind that the section we select must have Zpz greater than our calculated Zpz of step 3.
      I hope u have understood.
      Or u can check me video on design of channel section to have deep understanding about purlin design.
