Even if Imane is DSD, how one chooses to identify does not override chromosomes. Imane lives in a time where they can identify as a women and I hold no ill will on how someone chooses to dress. No, biologically, there’s no answer to the question of whether Khelif is male or female. Biology can’t answer gray area questions - like when life begins for the purposes of abortion. It’s just not within the realm of biology. Analogously, biology can’t determine whether some intersex people are male or female. That’s a matter of arbitrary legal convention and those conventions can and do differ, as seen by how different boxing organizations draw the lines. The IBA did their own test using THEIR OWN CRITERIA of where/how to draw the line. It’s not that one way of drawing the line is ‘correct’ and the other is ‘wrong’ - any set of drawing the lines is necessarily arbitrary and not grounded in some objective fact of the matter regarding what’s male and female in these intersex cases.

The Olympic committee ruled out the International Boxing Association's disqualification of this "athlete" for being YX in 2023. I am being attacked in many comments that try to say that K (woman from Algeria) has XY chromosomes but female appearance like DSD. It should be clear, for sports. If you have Y chromosomes, you are male, for sports I was born with lipoedema, meaning I've always had big legs, and arms, could not run fast, without having to keep stopping, because my body cannot process and remove the lactic acid quickly enough. Poor me! Doesn't mean the the whole sporting world should change the rules, give me advantages, to allow me to compete and be 'fair' to everyone. Life is flipping unfair in some ways, for all of us. Despite appearing like a male due to her build that she achieved through training, they’d find she is a female. Tests have already been done on Khalif by the IBA and results were that its a male (XY chromosomes). Its also very possible Khalif may have DSD or intersex. I used to do lots of sports in middle school up until high school. As a result I’ve somehow managed to maintain a fairly “masculine” arms, despite the fact I don’t do sports anymore nor do I exercise regularly, but I am fairly active quite often. Depending on how I carry myself one would assume I am a male, but I am in fact 💯 female/woman not just physically but internally. I have seen straight males who I thought were tomboys or lesbians. No beard, body build like a female but it just turned out they were just guys who don’t work out and look like females. Point is, although it’s quite obvious in many cases, if a person is male or female by simply looking at them, it can become a little tricky for certain people depending on lifestyle. So, unless you know what’s between their legs, one of the only ways to know with 💯 certainty that a person is male or female is doing dna test. Chromosomes are the primary determinants of one’s sex.
How' so? Boxing is a sport about getting hit. If a woman doesn't want to get hit she could always choose another sport. Being hit by a person with chromosome XY doesn't make it any more a battery than being hit by another biological women since there's domestic violence in lesbian couples too.

This sounds like a case of “Testicular feminization syndrome”, a congenital genetic disorder that causes embryonic cells to be insensitive to testosterone, and therefore the body fails to develop male external genitalia. It is surprising that nobody in the press has mentioned the term or given explanation to the condition. Usually individuals affected are raised as girls, and don’t find out about their condition until they become adolescents and fail to start menstruation. To protect them psychologically, often they are never given a clear explanation or diagnosis, and are just told that they were born without an uterus and simply cannot give birth. So even they are often not well informed about their condition.

Qualifications for the different human categories should be changed to all XX competes together, all XY competes together, all XXY competes together and etcetera. That way it’s fair competition for everybody. The problem here is trying to squeeze a square peg into a circular hole the square peg needs its own square hole. The circular hole needs its own circular peg for example. People are not being given their own kind to compete with. We are all different and that’s not being respected.
It's a serious safety issue for genetically-female athletes in contact sports. There's also a fairness issue no matter what sport. They should never be put in this position.

I appreciate this conversation for its accuracy in not labeling the individuals trans when that’s not the case. I disagree with their opinion if the athletes are born female. I’m a coach and would despise seeing trans women in female sports. In my opinion the different physiological makeup we have is apart of what makes athletes different from each other. Some girl basketball players are 6’4 to 6’8. Maybe some of them have higher testosterone than the average woman. If they have a female reproductive system they are female for sports. It’s unfair how those female athletes have been denigrated. A lot of female athletes are Tom Boy and will be criticized the way these women have been criticized if they are boyish but female.

Have you actually watch the match between Carini and Khelif? I was trained in fit boxing, but learned a lot about boxing from my coach. During the fight both boxers had their attacks and defenses moment and not a moment in the match suggested that this was a one-sided match. During the whole time, no strong punches like a cross was thrown by either side. Carini delieved a few jabs to Khelif and likewise Khelif also returned a few jabs. Carini was hit in her face by one or two jabs from Khelif, and that was it. If Khelif has any advantage, over other boxers, why wasn't she winning every match? In Tokyo Olympics, she was out during the quarter finals. Khelif is not that high ranking in the world, plus Khelif never underwent any procedure to change her gender, and she has a vagina.

Testosterone variation is large amongst individual men and women. And males have much more testosterone than females. Trans women is a social construct but the chromosomes should determine who competes with each other.

DSD is not gender reassignment. InMuslim countries, intersex is not punished because it’s seen as an act of God. However a binary choice must be made, based on characteristics. The parents may have made that choice as a baby, and then puberty kicked in.

No, biologically, there’s no answer to the question of whether Khelif is male or female. Biology can’t answer gray area questions - like when life begins for the purposes of abortion. It’s just not within the realm of biology. Analogously, biology can’t determine whether some intersex people are male or female. That’s a matter of arbitrary legal convention and those conventions can and do differ, as seen by how different boxing organizations draw the lines. The IBA did their own test using THEIR OWN CRITERIA of where/how to draw the line. It’s not that one way of drawing the line is ‘correct’ and the other is ‘wrong’ - any set of drawing the lines is necessarily arbitrary and not grounded in some objective fact of the matter regarding what’s male and female in these intersex cases.

Tests have already been done on Khalif by the IBA and results were that its a male (XY chromosomes). Its also very possible Khalif may have DSD or intersex.
I used to do lots of sports in middle school up until high school. As a result I’ve somehow managed to maintain a fairly “masculine” arms, despite the fact I don’t do sports anymore nor do I exercise regularly, but I am fairly active quite often. Depending on how I carry myself one would assume I am a male, but I am in fact 💯 female/woman not just physically but internally.
I have seen straight males who I thought were tomboys or lesbians. No beard, body build like a female but it just turned out they were just guys who don’t work out and look like females.
Point is, although it’s quite obvious in many cases, if a person is male or female by simply looking at them, it can become a little tricky for certain people depending on lifestyle. So, unless you know what’s between their legs, one of the only ways to know with 💯 certainty that a person is male or female is doing dna test. Chromosomes are the primary determinants of one’s sex.

I have quit watching all Olympics and will not ever watch until fairness returns to the sport and true biological males and females are restored and that's probably never because the world is getting sicker and sicker. It is not a competition it's a slaughter.

Qualifications for the different human categories should be changed to all XX competes together, all XY competes together, all XXY competes together and etcetera. That way it’s fair competition for everybody. The problem here is trying to squeeze a square peg into a circular hole the square peg needs its own square hole. The circular hole needs its own circular peg for example. People are not being given their own kind to compete with. We are all different and that’s not being respected.

I appreciate this conversation for its accuracy in not labeling the individuals trans when that’s not the case. I disagree with their opinion if the athletes are born female. I’m a coach and would despise seeing trans women in female sports. In my opinion the different physiological makeup we have is apart of what makes athletes different from each other. Some girl basketball players are 6’4 to 6’8. Maybe some of them have higher testosterone than the average woman. If they have a female reproductive system they are female for sports. It’s unfair how those female athletes have been denigrated. A lot of female athletes are Tom Boy and will be criticized the way these women have been criticized if they are boyish but female.
Everything about that fight said assault and battery and that Italian boxer has a legal case .I do believe that only the courts not social media that can settle this correctly .

Have you actually watch the match between Carini and Khelif?
I was trained in fit boxing, but learned a lot about boxing from my coach. During the fight both boxers had their attacks and defenses moment and not a moment in the match suggested that this was a one-sided match.
During the whole time, no strong punches like a cross was thrown by either side. Carini delieved a few jabs to Khelif and likewise Khelif also returned a few jabs.
Carini was hit in her face by one or two jabs from Khelif, and that was it.
If Khelif has any advantage, over other boxers, why wasn't she winning every match? In Tokyo Olympics, she was out during the quarter finals. Khelif is not that high ranking in the world, plus Khelif never underwent any procedure to change her gender, and she has a vagina.

When I first encountered this story, I was furious, wondering how the IOC could allow a man to box a woman. If the claim by the IBA that she has XY chromosomes is true, then "she" is not a biological female, although she may have been socialized as such.
As for your statement that "intersex are still male or female" that is not true either: Turner's syndrome (X chromosome) present as female and Klinefelter syndrome (XXY) present as male, but conditions like complete androgen insensitivity (CAIS) can present as female externally yet have no uterus and internal testes which produce higher levels of testosterone.
As long as women continue to act like this issue is less important than their own individual performance record this will not stop.
