I had a gay couple as neighbors in the 80's. They had been together for 17 years at that time. The 2nd or 3rd year of the local pride parade, the 3 of us decided to go. Neither of us had been before. When the guys saw the half naked people marching in the parade, Jeff said, "Let's go, this is a damn embarrassment and will do nothing to help with how people see us" That was the last pride parade I attended.

My husband and I wld go for a walk w/ kids on a popular street, we didn't know it was Pride Parade. We stayed. I liked the footwear..it was a good vibe, nothing obscene, a lot of leather but so what. My 6 yr old daughter disliked the colors GAP for kids had for girls, pale blue, pink, lavender, she'd go pick out a hoody from " boys " side, colors- navy, red, green. A salesperson said oh sweetie, your clothes r over there, and I said, she can wear whst color she wants. She wanted to be in boxing. So I put her in boxing. She's a gorgous high maintenance ($$,) nails, long streaked blonde hair, gorgous, who's been with same guy 7 yrs. She's straight, has gay friends. Oh and she's a roofer. I don't believe in gender colors, toys, (btw, she can carry the 70lb loads) but I do think men are bigger, stronger, faster, and that a man is king of his castle. She does the cooking/ cleaning, and pays half the rent. There's so many, if u watch y/ t, entitled young women, I can't wait til they're 30, I'm 55. I'm invisible, but, I had my day in the sun, now it's my daughters turn. They both hsve conservative, but open minded, loving ❤️ 's. I'm really proud of them. My lesbian friend plucked up the courage to join in an Australian pride parade a few years ago. She found the whole event confronting, utterly vulgar and distasteful. She described the participants as narcissists and not appropriately costumed for the many children watching. Brilliant discussion. I am a woman doctor and recovering Catholic. The latest buzzwords for caring for the underprivileged is to say that you " walk with" the victim. The local archbishop advised school teachers to " walk with" trans children and their families. I replied that " you can walk with them as much as you like but this is child abuse." To his credit he left it up on his website. Thank you both for your common-sense answers. The more we call out this culture of misogyny and child abuse in the charity, politics, education and commercial spheres the sooner we get over this madness.

Douglas Murray - you are one of my intellectual heroes. A person's value doesn't derive from their looks, sexuality, skin color or anything other than the content of their characters and the sum total of their efforts and achievements.
The way I see it, even a person who is born severely disabled has value, even if their achievements are very limited because of their disability. They are still a human person, and therefore have intrinsic value, as they are made in the image of God.

While I do agree that the attempted "erasure" of sex has been aimed squarely at women ('birthing person", "front hole", etc), and that women are more clearly under attack than men, I do have to push back on your blanket statement regarding MEN's acceptance of effeminate men. Bullying is bullying, and gay-bashing has been steadily on the decrease since the 80s. There are male subcultures where homophobia is still rampant, but they are firmly in the minority, and most are at least smart enough to keep that stuff to themselves when interacting with the general public. Being openly anti-gay is not acceptable in our society at large, and most people (man or woman) will push back against that kind of talk or behavior.

I am a 43 year old straight man, who stood (literally) arm-in-arm with my gay friends in the 90s. At times, we stood around them because people wanted to beat them. We have all fought so bloody hard, and accomplished so much to get to a place where homosexuality was finally accepted in society. The "alphabet people" have torn that apart and act in a way that is an insult to everything that was done. They are creating intolerance toward the LGBT community; hatred has increased toward the community. The arguments and accusations made are a slap in the face to every gay man, lesbian, etc that went before them.

I was behind a guy in Santander (or Abbey National, as I still call it) yesterday and he was having a rant to a cashier about the panto dames reading to young children in schools. He had been set off by all the Pride flags decorating the place. She said there was nothing she could do about it, but understood how he felt. I had a gay couple as neighbors in the 80's. They had been together for 17 years at that time. The 2nd or 3rd year of the local pride parade, the 3 of us decided to go. Neither of us had been before.
When the guys saw the half naked people marching in the parade, Jeff said, "Let's go, this is a damn embarrassment and will do nothing to help with how people see us"
That was the last pride parade I attended.

My husband and I wld go for a walk w/ kids on a popular street, we didn't know it was Pride Parade. We stayed. I liked the footwear..it was a good vibe, nothing obscene, a lot of leather but so what. My 6 yr old daughter disliked the colors GAP for kids had for girls, pale blue, pink, lavender, she'd go pick out a hoody from " boys " side, colors- navy, red, green. A salesperson said oh sweetie, your clothes r over there, and I said, she can wear whst color she wants. She wanted to be in boxing. So I put her in boxing. She's a gorgous high maintenance ($$,) nails, long streaked blonde hair, gorgous, who's been with same guy 7 yrs. She's straight, has gay friends. Oh and she's a roofer. I don't believe in gender colors, toys, (btw, she can carry the 70lb loads) but I do think men are bigger, stronger, faster, and that a man is king of his castle. She does the cooking/ cleaning, and pays half the rent.
There's so many, if u watch y/ t, entitled young women, I can't wait til they're 30, I'm 55. I'm invisible, but, I had my day in the sun, now it's my daughters turn. My lesbian friend plucked up the courage to join in an Australian pride parade a few years ago. She found the whole event confronting, utterly vulgar and distasteful. She described the participants as narcissists and not appropriately costumed for the many children watching. She said there was no sense of celebration or acknowledgment of how far their rights had come.

I think it was a very important point to make that trans-critical men like Douglas don't get anywhere near the threats and harassment that trans-critical women like Julie do, and I applaud him for bringing that to the fore. Trans activism is rooted in deeply held misogyny, and they prove it time and time again.
Women have zero boundaries and limits and society doesnt hold them back from going after children. There are literally 28 year old women who "identify" as gay, trying to shame, humiliate and groom gay boys into having sex with them. Pretty sure AGP's arent allowed to do that, but ok.

Why shouldn't someone feel disgust at flags representing perverse sexual behaviour lining their local streets or any sexual behaviour for that matter? Its not something most people want to think about when walking about their local area with their family and possibly young children.

Brilliant discussion. I am a woman doctor and recovering Catholic. The latest buzzwords for caring for the underprivileged is to say that you " walk with" the victim. The local archbishop advised school teachers to " walk with" trans children and their families. I replied that " you can walk with them as much as you like but this is child abuse." To his credit he left it up on his website.

Douglas Murray - you are one of my intellectual heroes. A person's value doesn't derive from their looks, sexuality, skin color or anything other than the content of their characters and the sum total of their efforts and achievements.
The way I see it, even a person who is born severely disabled has value, even if their achievements are very limited because of their disability. They are still a human person, and therefore have intrinsic value, as they are made in the image of God.
Douglas is so funny and extremely clever. I tend to be left of center politically on some things … yet I often agree with him on many issues. He has a lot of common sense. Much appreciated.

This is because women are more easily bullied into accepting these things. They are the more socialist and collectivist of the sexes. Not all, but that is the trend. It’s why they weaponize compassion and social ostracisation to manufacture consent. Most men, who no one gives a fuck about, don’t give a fuck. Feminism has always played these social constructionist games, along with the rest of progressivism. For all the good these things have accomplished, they are co-opted for this madness.
Women are a easier target, that’s why. Look at bud light, it was mainly men who they targeted.
While I do agree that the attempted "erasure" of sex has been aimed squarely at women ('birthing person", "front hole", etc), and that women are more clearly under attack than men, I do have to push back on your blanket statement regarding MEN's acceptance of effeminate men. Bullying is bullying, and gay-bashing has been steadily on the decrease since the 80s. There are male subcultures where homophobia is still rampant, but they are firmly in the minority, and most are at least smart enough to keep that stuff to themselves when interacting with the general public. Being openly anti-gay is not acceptable in our society at large, and most people (man or woman) will push back against that kind of talk or behavior.
@@subliteral1380 I agree homophobia is thankfully decreasing, but that still doesn't account for the larger numbers of men not feeling part of malehood. And not all effeminate men are gay, and many of the men who don't identify with being male are still attracted to women. Many of them have decided that they are now lesbian, and many bully lesbian women into finding them attractive and wanting to sleep with them. There is blatant sexism and misogyny going on here.

As a straight women I found this conversation fascinating. I have many gay friends who would feel the same as Douglas. They are not part of some random grouping with people speaking for them! They don’t need that, they are bright, witty ( like Douglas) and very capable of speaking for themselves. We must stop putting people into boxes where they clearly don’t belong.
What's weird to me is how some folks treat this gay thing to be something so significant. These days, it really isn't. Most people are like "okay whatever" now. I am a 43 year old straight man, who stood (literally) arm-in-arm with my gay friends in the 90s. At times, we stood around them because people wanted to beat them.
We have all fought so bloody hard, and accomplished so much to get to a place where homosexuality was finally accepted in society.
The "alphabet people" have torn that apart and act in a way that is an insult to everything that was done. They are creating intolerance toward the LGBT community; hatred has increased toward the community.

I was behind a guy in Santander (or Abbey National, as I still call it) yesterday and he was having a rant to a cashier about the panto dames reading to young children in schools. He had been set off by all the Pride flags decorating the place. She said there was nothing she could do about it, but understood how he felt. He apologised as he was leaving, but said he had been ''triggered''. We are going to be seeing and hearing more of this...
