PROPER Leg Day Workout with Dumbbells | EPIC Endgame Day 1

  • Exactly as it says… it’s all about the legs and a PROPER good leg day!
    This is day 1 and we will be completing mainly compound movements to recruit more muscles, so we work a lot of muscles even though this workout consists of a smaller number of exercises!
    These are my favourite key exercises for the legs… over the next few weeks will come so many variations and formats!
    The staple is high squats! Lower slowly, gaze straight ahead and chest up throughout! Avoid excessive jarring of those knees at the top!
    All you will need for this leg day workout is a pair of dumbbells, a yoga block and your mat for cool down!
    The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 10kg each!
    A longer duration per exercise however that will not necessarily mean more reps completed… you will notice I am focused on each rep and taking it slow and to the best range of motion I can whilst controlling the movement… and no jerking! No excessive locking out of knees at top of movement. Aim for smooth transition between the rising and lowering portions.
    You will also notice during the RDLs, I really slow this down. 60 seconds is a long duration so pace yourself but use this opportunity to really ‘feel’ the hamstrings lengthen and aim to increase the stretch gently with each rep but retracting shoulders even more, chest more proud, hips back & up!
    The timer will be on for 60 seconds per exercise with 30 seconds rest inbetween!

    x100 BODYWEIGHT HEEL ELEVATED SQUATS!
    IMPORTANT:
    You will notice I complete the 100 rep finisher in my own time. I pause when I feel my next rep will not be performed correct and even though aiming to complete a number of reps, I am under no pressure to complete in one go. I would stress the importance to perform this to suit you.
    Options include to complete the reps in a time that suits you so this may be slightly quicker than me or longer. Or you may wish to follow me and complete as many as you can with great form and simply finish with me irrelevant of number of reps reached.
    This advice applies to every finisher within the EPIC Endgame workouts.
    This was a lot of reps within the 40 minutes so I will be resting my legs with just a relaxed walk today… so I am feeling ready for glutes on Wednesday!

    I have to say the 30 second rests were such a luxury 😆 and don’t appear too often in Caroline’s routine! I loved this one so much!

      Ha! I thought the same thing. It felt odd to rest so long, but It was nice.
      I was running back and forth between the kitchen, prepping my post workout smoothie.
      Then the finisher came and I died a little. 😳

    Those 100 repetitions of heel elevated squats killed me! I got lightheaded after that burn out. I tried to follow your pace during the last set of heel elevated squats but I needed to take a pause at some points. Then I followed the optional add on which is an abs workout. I am excited for the upper body workout tomorrow!

      I felt light headed during this too, but that's probably because I forgot to eat before taking my Adderall. Either way this was a hard one!

      @@realizedreams6183 so true! I aim to dielectric weight that I can perform each set safe and correct but I could perform this workout with 2 x 15kg for example but just because the weight increases, doesn’t necessarily make it more work on the muscle. Sometimes that lighter weight allows for even more intensity!

    As someone who is a little obsessed with running and have avoided strength training, I can't thank you enough Caroline. I'm in the final year of my 40s and know that I can't be complacent about maintaining muscle strength to keep running for as long as possible. Your previous EPIC programmes have been amazing and I know I will stick with you through this one too.
    So this is a message to anyone else out there like me who wants to keep active for as long as possible to take up strength training. The added benefit is that you will have a hotter body as well as a result. What's not to love?

    I just finished EPIC III and coming into Endgame a smidge late, but I am so happy to be here! This one felt like a test of how far I had come, and I PASSED!!! I tackle these classes a little differently than scheduled and I don't do the HIIT or strictly cardio classes at all because I also train in other ways aside from this series and that's covered there. I also hit the gym equipment 2-3 days a week in the evenings. I am sooooo much stronger than when I first started working with Caroline's classes. I was traveling this weekend and had access to a full length mirror in the hotel. I don't own any at home. I can see this work in my body too. I am so grateful. So grateful. And it's FREE! Caroline, thank you for your work. It matters a great deal.
    I used 25s for this and 30s for anything containing an RDL. It worked out great!

    Dear Caroline and friends,
    I just finished epic III and I felt so excited to begin with endgame, even when you released the videos I thought I won’t be able to think in finishing with 100 reps of anything.
    So, today is the day… like many of others, these days haven’t been easy and today I was considering to put off the endgame and try something easier. The long story short I really could complete the 100 reps and the whole thing. I just wanted to thank Caroline again

    I’ve been having a bit of a tough time lately and really wanna get back to the workout rhythm I had before. Going to jump into this challenge with thousands of wonderful people and my goal is to finish it, even if I take longer to do it. I think this is just what I need. Let’s get stronger!

    i'm a free weight enthusiast who travels for work. hotels usually have nice dumbells - but not barbells, so i started endgame and it has been fantastic. The diversity has enhanced my primary workouts. Thank you, Caroline - you are inspiring.

    Loved this so much. I live in the town in Colorado USA that had the horrific fires last week. We weren’t able to come home, then had no heat or water. This was the first workout I did since we evacuated last Thurs and it was so nice to see Caroline’s voice and start the new EPIC. One of my friends who just started with Caroline and was planning to do this series, lost her house and everything in it. Devastating.

      I can’t imagine having to evacuate my house! Meanwhile we’re in the middle of a cold snap where I am (between -20 C and -30C, sometimes even colder). We are getting lots of snow too. Weird weather patterns across North America!

    I just did it !!! My first workout EVER, sinve quarentine I began to feel sick and weak, unable to eat properly, just watching youtube and avoiding work. I'm so so proud, and amazed by your self-control while doing this stuff ! Can't walk right now 😆 Thank you so so much

      I’m pregnant and just starting to feel a bit more human and was given the green light to train like I always have but with lighter weights Lol! No need for progressive overload, just maintaining strength and getting some energy

    I woke up this morning like I was going to open presents, because I am really excited for Epic Endgame and, people, Caroline doesn’t disappoint.       I also aimed to do just 50 of the burnout finisher but pushed through and did the 100! Such a sense of accomplishment! I got slower and the reps got harder but I did it! Great job to you!

    I’ve been counting down the days to Epic Endgame! Just to contract a tummy bug and still recovering on day 1 😭 its tough for me but i need to accept my body needs rest and care.     During most of the workout I was like "oh that's good. We learn the essential leg exercises slowly with focus on good technique. I can feel my legs but they are not bursting. Thats really good and not so frustrating". After 100 Reps of bw squats (I did it without the elevated heels because it felt better for my knee) my legs were finally bursting and I do not know how to stand up from my mat again today. Thanks Caroline! I love that feeling (: ♡

    For me, this is the best leg workout ever. Series are at a slow pace, so that we feel the muscles working, but very intense though, which makes the series very efficient. The finisher is high intensity, making the heart rate rise to high level for a few minutes only. Excellent for hormones. Congratulations Caroline for such a masterpiece ! ❤️

    Been refreshing the channel to finally be able to see this!
    I AM SO EXCITED TO START THIS. Prior to this I have only completed Epic Heat, so yeah this is gonna be new for me! But I am all about challenging my body.. and the progress that I can feel in my body with just 50workouts is unbelievable. CG's workouts give me something to be proud of.       Haha same! That's when I decided I would pause to *really* go at my own pace. I think it took me like 5 min, but I did it! I mostly used my arms going down the stairs later to get my laundry because my legs were NOT there for it.

      Morning Matthew....all done, wow, half way through instead of focusing on the workout, I was wondering how am I going to do this for the next 10 weeks???? As soon as I finished, I was glad that I pushed through. Must admit that I only managed 82 of 100 elevated squats in the end. Thank you Caroline for this new programme. You are truly a wonderful and kind soul. Looking forward to tomorrow. X

    First day is done. I love every single second of this workout even lunges. Finally, I was able to do all the lunges without pausing. I cannot even express how happy and thankful I feel for being able to work out with Caroline.

    Hii Caroline.. this past week you've made me realize that I am like a child who shouldn't be left alone with sweets .. I did 108 suryanamaskars for 2 days back to back and my hamstrings divorced me 🙃 Then I took it easy all week .. I am so thankful to you .. I'll start EPIC Endgame after coming back from my Job Training 🥳 Happy New Year everyone

      Oh I 've just looked up surya namaskars, it's the sun salutation! I did that when I was practicing yoga! I had a hell of a time trying to remember every step of it🤣

      @@matthewalmond8274 Hi Matthew.. Thanks.. yeah it's going well so far 😌 being a teacher is a big responsibility I've realized that now .. Oh Well Suryanamaskar aka Sun salutations are in total of 12 steps and we have to do them at sunrise or sunset .. I did them while following a video and it was fast lol .. I came back from Near death .. 5-10 reps is suggested for beginners but me being an absolute douche did 108 of them which is for advanced yogis 😂

    12:30 at night hear on the east coast in the USA but I had to take a leak at what I am gonna be doing as soon as I get my 8-9 hours 😃 So excited for this .     🥳Day 1!! I can already tell this program is going to be something special! Today was SOLID! I enjoyed the challenge of the longer sets. Really gave me time to focus on good, quality reps without feeling rushed. I got a lot of good focus in 👊🏻! The staple was great to continue to push throughout. Really enjoyed the RDLs, lunge to RDLs and staggered RDLs to staggered squats. Then the finisher😳🥴🥵. I had to pause several times to give my legs a chance to start functioning again😆..but the feeling of completing those 100 reps is unbeatable!! Feeling amazing and my legs are dead! 😁 Day 1 ✅ ! My husband is joining me for all the fun again🥰. Thanks Caroline for providing another amazing series for us. You rocked it today! See you tomorrow!😊

      Solid leg workout is correct. I also agree on the layout. 60 seconds for each exercise allowed me to feel comfortable slowing down and performing each rep with the best form I could, my legs and I had a good connection today haha. After the last set, I'm not so much looking forward to all the 100 rep finishers though lol.

    Dear Caroline, all I have to say that it was a great start for the epic endgame. The exercises seems simple when you read the description but they are really effective and you get a proper leg workout if you do it according to your tips. Keep on doing the good work! I felt the burn and got tired after the workout but I also feel energetic for the rest of the day and that is exactly what I needed. Thank you very much for it!

    I can’t believe how much I’ve learned and how far I’ve come because of these workouts. It took me longer to complete epic 3 because of different things but I’m so pumped to get through this programme quicker. Todays lower body day was tough but I don’t stop as often as I used to and I wouldn’t have even finished one programme in my earlier years never mind epic beginner, 1, 2, heat and 3!!. I’m always saying it but thanks you so much for coming into my life. 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌

    Day 1 of EPIC Endgame Done! I'm so excited to start this program! Woohoo! Loved this workout session. I always love a good leg day workout and especially seeing those RDLs. My legs wow were definitely shaking with the RDLs and 1/2 RDLs. The 100x finisher at the end yikes! I did it though! Love the way every session is designed! I see a difference! So grateful. Thank you Caroline

    I got to 90 when Caroline reached 100 heel elevated squats, and I felt so damn proud of myself because I was almost able to keep pace with her! (still finished off to the 100 during the cool down)

      I just started mine today and I couldn’t even make it past the first 15 minutes 🤣 I almost passed out. But we press on. I think I’m going to repeat week 1 until I can finish the workouts and even do the optional add ons. Push through! You’ve got this💪🏽
