I absolutely love "who do you think you are taling to old man, we're the jokerz" sure you are. Noone would know the real joker better than anyone besides bruce wayne. love it
I like how the animators said "You know how we could REALLY drive home how much of an asshole Nelson is? Let's make him the guy that wears sunglasses at night because he thinks it makes him look cool."
This whole sequence shows just how well Terry is suited to become the new Batman. First, we see that he's got combat skills and he knows how to use the terrain to his advantage. Then, when the rest of the gang shows up, he leads them on a chase, keeping the crowd out of danger and also, inadvertently, thinning the Jokerz' numbers. Terry also demonstrates fast reflexes, dodging traffic and later Bruce. He thinks Bruce is just an old man getting in over his head and tries to get him out of the way, again demonstrating his desire to keep innocents out of danger, but when Bruce shows how badass he is, Terry recognises what a huge advantage he's got and takes on half the gang while Bruce handles the other half.
+Shadowhawk28 If anyone looks up the clip from "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker," called "Joker kills bonk" then he would see that's exactly what the real Joker says when he reacts to these cheap knockoffs.
"We're the Jokerz!" "Sure you are." Lmao Bruce was probably thinking, "this has got to be some kind of an insult, 30 years later and the original Joker still puts them to shame."
+gorrow1990 To be fair, that cane's probably worth more than a few of those motorcycles put together. He probably has some military-grade shit goin' on there.
I'm 44 and love this show still and have it too plus the movie the unedited version that is. When I first watched the movie on VHS back in 2000 it was the edited version yes but it was still good but the unedited is way better. I like how on this cartoon we had two Batmans. Bruce may not be able to fight anymore physically because of health reasons but his detective skills are still top notch and he's passing on his knowledge to Terry. Bruce on this series is like Obi Wan Kenobi was when he was training Luke.
+One Nerd95 Same sorta logic people have for idolizing the likes of Hitler or Charles Manson. Some people are just fixated on people like that. Having people like that in the comic world only makes sense.
Joker: Who do you think you're talking to, old man? We're the Jokerz. Bruce: Bitch, please. I've fought the Joker. You're just a wannabe fanboy in a Halloween costume.
when you think about it, Bruce taking a jab at these wannabe's is the closest thing to respect he would show to his eternal enemy, especially when you consider ALL the damage the Joker did.
I love how Bruce stood up for terry and said “sure you are” because he knew the real joker better than anyone else, and they fought together so well, I also love how Bruce took down the one joker without even having to turn around or anything, just like he used to do when he was Batman, man he’s still got it even after all these years 😂😁🥳
I believe that Nolan looked at all of the Batman property, took what he liked and made his movies. The fact that "The Dark Knight Rises" is all about an aging Bruce Wayne looking for a new replacement Batman is almost kinda like the subplot of John Blake
"Who do you think you're talking to old man? We're the Jokerz!" "Sure you are." That smirk. Bruce knows the real Joker. These, no pun intended, clowns can't even hope to compete against that madman.
+Dylan Rifkin going to get some groceries then suddenly a mugger walks up to you asking for your money. 5 minutes later h is at his friends house covered in bruies yelling through the letterbox to let him in before YOU find him!
what makes me smile is that Bruce has got to be in his 60's at least, has a heart condition and a cane and still owns the a bunch of punks with some help
***** Yeah it makes more sense for Bruce to be in his 80's at this point. Epilogue takes place 15 years later, by that point Bruce looks to be close to 100.
actually at the beginni of the first episode it says 20 years after the jlu, and by the enf of that he was 45-48, so is he is 65-68 at the beginin gand still batman, kicking ass. he thenhas a heart attack and sued a gun, and I think it jump ahead and ways either 15 or 20 years later so he is anywhere from 80-88, probably around 85 here. but an 85 year old batman is a much better fighter than a good 25 year old fighter. hell if he wasn't on his heart medicine and get pain after 4-5 minutes of fighting, even at 85 he would be kicking arse even more than he is here. in fact, the only reason he had the heart condition wsa because of 45 years of putting top level stress on his body
Yes in the opening scene of Rebirth Part 1, Bruce is in his mid to late 60's. Fast forward 20 years later when he meets Terry he's about 85, Epilogue takes place 15 years after that and Bruce is close to 100 by that point. Yes after 40+ years of fighting as Batman eventually you're body is gonna wear down and even a Strength Amplifying Suit won't be able to stop the inevitable, he either had to Retire or someone would finally manage to kill him.
batarang 87, I always suspected he was 85, yes it was 20 and I think he was 65 at the beginning. but I was under the impression that bruce was 103 years old in epilogue. because I suspected it occurred 15 years after Batman beyond, which lasted 3 seasons. thus bruce was 85+3, +15 years later = 103. what is your though on that? beyond that though he was still alive so I wonder just how long brurde actually lives. probably 150 years. the man just doesn't give up at all
The moral of this clip? Once Batman...ALWAYS Batman. No matter how old you are, whether or not you're wearing the costume or not-- always. (I especially love how at the end, Bruce does the traditional Batman 'offhand backhand* trick -with his cane-.)
I like to think when Bruce said “sure you are” he was really thinking: “Kid, I knew the Joker, I kicked the Joker’s ass more times than any of you are mentally capable of counting too and let me tell you, none of you are the Joker”
Too bad, the Batman Beyond movie (Return of the Joker) already happened, and Kevin Conroy still voice acted old Bruce, not Clint Eastwood. Your purpose is defeated, kid.
He'd be good but I doubt he's interested in sci fi. I mainly prefer Keaton or Lee Majors. Those of you not familiar with him he's best known as The Six Million Dollar Man Steve Austin but I see Lee as Derek Powers more but I do see Lindsay Wagner aka Jaime Sommers The Bionic Woman as Comissioner Barbara Gordon and Adam Driver as Terry, and Kristen Kreuk as Dana
I just love this Bruce wayne is 85 years old and kicking butt. But later in the episode when Terry sees all thebat costumes "no wonder" but bets lines all by bruce wayne "leave him alone, and get off my property , your tresspassing" we are the jokers "sure you are" lol
magmablock I’m sorry for Adam West death I couldn’t his autograph in last spring at a comic con event in Hanover it’s crowed that I was so close I didn’t make it I was heartbroken
The real reason old Bruce fights with a cane? Age has made him so powerful that it's the only weapon so weak it's considered non-lethal in his hands, even his bare fists could accidentally kill someone if he used them lol
been so long since i saw this i had forgotten terry could kick ass before he even became batman. i mean the stuff he pulled was definitely not normal. it seems like the only thing stopping him from becoming batman without bruces help is the fact that hes not rich
Terry gets into trouble with the Jokerz. Old Bruce steps in and beat the tar out of them and later takes Terry in as a protege. That may well look like another interpretation of "The Karate Kid", but this is more badass. Because it's BATMAN!
It really escapes me that people actually look up to the Joker as a role model, let alone the fact that he even left any legacy behind after he died. Especially since Batman (Well, until Terry finally took his place), Batgirl and Robin all ended up washed up and divided after what happened to Robin
It's ironic how in TDKR Universe Batman retires and later comes back and inspires a gang to be like him (Son's of the Batman) but in the Batman Beyond Universe Joker dies and later comes back which inspires a gang to be like him (The Joker Gang)
I like how whenever the outcast or nerd does something awesome like iono...fight real good or show extraordinary athleticism, the bully or jocks always call them a freak or loser.... C'mon if I saw a guy single handily beat a bunch of thugs on motorcycles then I wouldn't talk shit.
I know it isn't really a reference because this was the first time they said it, but still thumbs up for the guy who said "lets out a smile on his face"
"Lets put a smile on that face" and "Get off my property, you're tresspassing". Both excellent lines later used in excellent movies ("The Dark Knight" and "Gran Torino").
"We're the Jokerz"
Bruce: *Bitch please.*
edward18517 yeeeeep
Dude knows how to defend himself, gets called a "Freak job"
That's only because Nelson is jealous!
@@5Mariner You said it! I'd be envious as heck if I saw that, but I'd at least pay him a compliment
More like badass
Called a freak job by the guy who wears sunglasses at night? I don't think that counts.
5Mariner Exactly. He’s never gonna admit that Terry’s a much better fighter than him.
He’s nothing but a loser.
"Sure you are."
wesgriff1 Bruce Wayne at his finest
Greatest line from this series.
When you actually fought the real deal that line is kind of expected.
What Bruce was thinking when he said that: "Oh, please. I fought the real thing, and you're literal bad jokes compared to the original."
I absolutely love "who do you think you are taling to old man, we're the jokerz" sure you are. Noone would know the real joker better than anyone besides bruce wayne. love it
John Adams I swear this guy I'm show u on the link looks exactly like the first jokerz that appears ruclips.net/video/diwr47lEjN8/видео.html
in a very weird way, Bruce is actually showing respect to his old nemesis by spitting in that knock offs face.
And that real joker is Heath Ledger.
even if you take away that he is batman, he still was around during all of his antics, gasing gotham, the laughing fish, the christmas special
Harley would also probably know him pretty well. Different perspectives but both rather conscious of the Joker's mentality.
I like how the animators said "You know how we could REALLY drive home how much of an asshole Nelson is? Let's make him the guy that wears sunglasses at night because he thinks it makes him look cool."
Or have him eat an apple
Ding
Cinemasins would agree
You get a like sir, because that was the funniest thing I've seen today.
Just like Albert Wesker.
Heh, love how Terry runs over to Bruce after he knocks J-Man around, like "welp, I've never seen anything that awesome, I'm on your side"
Jokerz: We're the Jokerz!!
Batman: Sure you are....
I wonder how the real Joker would react if these posers confronted him?
+Kevin Murphy
He'd hit them all with laughing gas and then show them how it was *really* done before they all died laughing.

At 3:12 Bruce should've sarcastically said "yeah, and I'm Batman."
Of course, the irony is that he IS Batman... or at least he once was.

Once a Batman, ALWAYS A BATMAN
Punks getting beat up by an old man with a cane is one thing, but all the background information in this context makes it so much more.

Out of all the Gadgets Bruce had used, his cane is the most dangerous of them all.

Kyran Sawhill no but this guy looks like the first jokerz ruclips.net/video/diwr47lEjN8/видео.html
@@tbducky4136 Yes. This is the joker I though of when I saw him.
Fun fact the chase scene was a reference to akira
Jokers: "We're the jokerz"
Bruce: "Sure you are."
Joker watching from hell: "KICK THEIR ASSES BATS"
More likely from Tim Drakes subconcious.
When Cartoonnetwork used to be good.
Don't fuck with the oldman.
2:50 so that's where Heath Ledger got his line from
Producer: "yes.... YES. Now let's get it without a southern accent."
I wouldn't be surprised if Christopher Nolan and his bother watched this scene and heard that line when they wrote The Dark knight script
Even in his later years Batman can still kick ass.
Well it's easy when he's facing people who don't know how to really fight.
If you got beat up by an old person the only way it wouldn’t be embarrassing is if it was Batman

Still badass after all those years.
I agree, R.I.P. Kevin Conroy.
Besides the amazing voice actors and animation another great part of the Batman cartoons has to be the music
Oh my god, that off-hand backhand with the cane was AWESOME!
Lol hits the booty with that cane at 3:40
Must've HURT, man! That thing is made out of a carbon fiber titanium alloy (with a bit of kryptonite on the end)
Got a spankin'

This scene alone makes the pilot episode of Batman Beyond one of my favorite pilots of any TV series.
When Bruce Wayne says get out of his property, YOU DO IT!!!!!
Jay Kelly NO SHIT! HE'S LIKE 80, 90, OR 70 AND HE'S STILL GOT MO-O-O-O-VES!!!
I love how Bruce does a cane version of his backhand punch at the end.
Just goes to show that Bruce Wayne (retired from Batman or not) never stops kicking ass.
every time i watch a scene of batman beyond, it makes me want to rewatch the whole series.

0:30 this entrance is iconic af don't lie💯
I love how terry still puts his helmet on 🤣
Safety first!
This is the three minutes that got me hooked on the series for life.
This is where, "Let's put a smile on his face," originated.
Yeah, i'm sure that Nolan watched this episode before writing the script.

Terry gets into trouble with the Jokerz. Old Bruce steps in and beat the tar out of them and later takes Terry in as a protege. That may well look like another interpretation of "The Karate Kid", but this is more badass. Because it's BATMAN!

What was Bruce doing in the middle of the street, anyway? Walking to the corner store for a gallon of milk?
It was his property. He came out after hearing loud motorcycle noises.
"We're the Jokerz!"
Bruce: Kid, I fought the real Joker back in the day, you are fucking Bozo compared to him
