There are moments when Dirt 2 looks better, especially at the start, but when you're in areas with a view of more than 50m like with the big valleys and opposing mountains, you just see silhouettes of mountains and.... Fog, but in WRC you see actual mountains with forests and trees, you see valleys with rivers. Once I noticed it, I can't unsee it. Dirt 2 is pretty, but lives in a small world and artfully hides the short draw distances. WRC has beautifully fleshed-out vistas.
My only real complaint about WRC when compared to DR2 is sound. Graphics I can let go. In DR2 engines sound so much more mellow, and you can sense much better when to shift gears based on the engine sound.
Dirt 2 created a tunnel of trees in most tracks to hide the fact the draw distances were short. Look at 2:00, the opposing mountains in Dirt 2 are just flat silhouettes, but in WRC they're textured mountains with forests. Other D2 tracks make use of 2d textures to represent distant trees, but I've never seen that in WRC. No doubt, WRC is weak graphically in some ways especially with reflections and lighting, somehow the flags are way better in Dirt 2, and D2 had glorious god-rays, but the worlds are full in WRC when they're tunnels in Dirt 2.
i'm hearing ya . I sweated so many hours on the original Pikes Peak in DIRT😂 I wish someone would make that track again for modern cars ...... proper dirt track
as someone who lives in a really snowy place the DR2.0 snow on the ground is exactly like in real life. I dont know what they tried doing with WRC maybe showing more asphalt to make it more realistic for it to be grippy IDK but it doesnt seem real
I'm actually curious if maybe this has something to do with run order/track degradation. Like more/less people racing before you, the more the track changes. I'd like to see 1st to run, mid pack, and last to run to see the difference.
I couldn't stand the heavy snow fall in WRC, its so weird it actually hurts my eyes, Like it feels like it from a 90s era rally game where they just throw a filter over the screen, its not real at all.
I think I finally understand my problems with WRC 1. The steering wheel just not lining up to how I like it when I play on gamepad 2. The horrible replay camera In DR2 with how the wheel is animated on gamepad inputs it feels like every input results in something happening in the game (i.e you turn the stick, it turns the steering wheel and the car) but in WRC the steering wheel in game has less/choppier movement. This just takes me away from the game and distracts me at times. I've tried turning off the wheel animations in game but it just doesn't feel right. As for the reply camera, it just looks horrible compared to DR1, D4, DR2. The way the car looks so stiff, the particle effects look so janky, and the camera angles are just so bad. I don't care if the scenery looks great, I want to look and enjoy how cool my run felt no matter if it was fast or slow.
EA WRC looks better. Especially in interior. More detailed both the cabin and the stage Dirt Rally 2.0 has more spectators! Comaprison could be better with similar conditions (like both with fog or without fog for both)
I went back to DR2 after a month playing EAS WRC: - Graphics: DR2, hands down - Variety: EAS WRC - Physics: DR2 - Fun: EAS WRC, being more forgiving. It's interesting that one month in EASWRC made me better at DR2. I don't know, it gives you confidence. I feel like EASWRC is to DR2 what Doom 2016 is to Doom Eternal, if you're into shooters.
wow you'd at least expect some tracks in the snow patches on asphalt in this modern era of graphics -it looks so ..... i don't know , undercooked ?..... just ordered DR 2 game of year edition on steam 39 clams !
Yeah I feel the same, but you go over the WRC discussion on Steam, people will claim its the best dirt physics int he industry and will argue with you about it. WRC feels much better on asphalt than DR2, I will give it that. But snow and gravel idk, it feels off.
I really like the dirt physics in dirt 2.0... but i dont like the tarmac physics... with wrc 10 i liked it both but to grippy sometimes... i have the new wrc ea game.. but i need a better graphics card.. i hope its the best of both
Honestly, I found that most graphic options for this game do not change the outcome. Even on ultra low everything, 1080p with no upscaler, it ranged from 98fps to 125fps on my system. It's just poorly optimized, unfortunately, because I really am enjoying the overall gameplay
3090ti and a 5900x here and WRC hardly touched my graphics card, get over 60 probably 80% of the time, but there is a bunch of areas I'll see 40 fps or so, DR2 I run that game well over 100fps at 3440x1440.
I just got ea wrc 24 yesterday.i have to say it's much more fun than dirt2.0. Car settings are much easier in wrc.cars handle much better in wrc.if ea worked on car sounds and improve graphics.dirt2.0 would be in trouble for sure.
Dirt rally 2 will always be special but ea wrc plays better in my opinion. The visuals and sound overall i think i prefer dirt rally 2, but gameplay ea wrc
Technicallly i think EA WRC is doing more, like higher asset quality and lighting generally, but I find that some of the DR 2.0 stages have a more natural look, like there's more variation in the texture on the roads and environments whereas WRC is lacking some of that, like they created higher resolution assets and made more environments with them, but they look kitbashed at times, whereas in DR 2.0 it seems like they had a more time to make individual details for each track.
Dirt Rally 2.0 has better graphics and better sound. I haven't played EA Sports WRC but looking at this comparison I also see better physics in Dirt Rally 2.0. This has probably been Codemasters' worst year because F1 23 is also horrible. I don't know if EA Sports is involved in all this.
Nah bro physics in dirt rally 2.0 is really bad. They made rotation point in the middle of the car, so it feels like your wheels turning. In wrc they fixed that
I've played hundreds of hours of DR2.0, I think WRC's graphics are getting a bit of a bad rap. I think the car models are clearly better, it is especially the interiors. The environmental graphics are definitely a very mixed bag, though. Sometimes it looks really nice and other times it looks worse. The driving feels really good to me, though. Performance is by far the biggest issue, though, and is not in a great place.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is WAYY better than the new game. Huge bummer on how unrealistic EA Sports WRC is.... slamming into walls to slingshot yourself around tight turns, indestructible cactuses, the tuning does not reflect correctly according to adjustments made. The game is a Flop. its horrible
I don't like it either, Even the damage models suck in WRC. But DR2 they have them White reflectors on Australia stages, I've totaled a car on one of them before lol, Idk what they are made out of but they hurt.
That's what you get when the biggest companies buy out the smaller developpers. The gaming industry is fucked. Such a huge market and you can count great racing games on 1 hand. I'm thinking about selling my simrig because playing the same games for years on end is getting boring AF!
Smaller developers? 700+ people isn't by any means small, Ghost Games had 85+ employees to make AAA game each 2 years, Playground games used to have 200+ employees in 2017, you're delusional.
@@yowhatsup9909 Either way Im sure it was EA's push to use the Unreal Engine even though they stated it was to make the stages longer rather than just working with Codemaster Ego engine.

Imagine Dirt 2 with WRC draw distance in Virtual Reality
You can hear wrc has way more mid and high frequencies while dr2.0 has a lot more bass
My only real complaint about WRC when compared to DR2 is sound. Graphics I can let go. In DR2 engines sound so much more mellow, and you can sense much better when to shift gears based on the engine sound.
Absolutley true. Besides the sound i absolutely love wrc 23
Excellent side-by-side!
dirt rally 2.0 for the win
Yep, dirt rally 2.0 wins here, although graphic looks nice in EA too
Yep, EA WRC is just a downgrade with more content lol

Yep Dirt rally 2.0 is still the king !
If I wouldnt have known any better, I would have sworn DR2.0 was the next-gen one. Damn lol
Honestly, i think we just need more content do dirt rally 2.0, more tracks and cars 😂
imagine if dirt rally 2 had mod support
The lighting is so much better on the new WRC game it's not even comparable. Especially on the interior.
Both games are awesome Im having a lot of fun playing WRC right now but dirt rally 2 is a legendary game, definitly gonna revisit someday
Still missing Hillclimb from DR1. Had high hopes that they extend this Section with Mt.Washington and more
i'm hearing ya . I sweated so many hours on the original Pikes Peak in DIRT😂
I wish someone would make that track again for modern cars ...... proper dirt track
DR2 is the winner clearly, despite being 5 years old
ea wrc is more close to DR2.0 or to dirt4 from handline/physics point of view?
DR2.0
4 years between those games... barely noticable.
I like the overall look and (speed) feeling of Dirt Rallye 2 more.
His FOV is quite smaller in WRC internal cam, though, which greatly affects sense of speed.
@@pbakai182 even 3rd person looks worse

I honestly don't know why they don't just use photogrammetry to detail the terrain.

dirt 2 by far
Nice

To me wrc is just an arcade version of dirt rally. the sounds are a bit better on wrc, but handling on dirt rally is way more simulated.
Yeah I feel the same, but you go over the WRC discussion on Steam, people will claim its the best dirt physics int he industry and will argue with you about it. WRC feels much better on asphalt than DR2, I will give it that. But snow and gravel idk, it feels off.

I have a 4090 and get FPS drops, usually in a turn or a mild collision. It is very weird, going to play with the graphical settings though.

The detail on track its better on WRC
The exhaust flames in 2.0 were definitely better
codemasters simulates even climate change
The lack of individual ice patches in wrc 23 is a huge step back imo... Feels like some lazy programming to me...
The whole game feels like lazy programming. I played it alot when I first got it, but still find myself grinding community events in DR2.0 instead.
Would really like to know what platform these are on
Both are on PC
Why it's snowing in DR2 at this stage? There isn't such option in my version of the game. Is it a wheather mod?
No mods, specific stage and settings in DR2 are Col de Turini Depart with Sunset / Light Snow / Dry Surface conditions
EA WRC looks so much better in this video! Dirt 2.0 isnt horrible tho.
Unreal engine,makes this game unreal
Where did you get the red paint in WRC?
When selecting the car, on the bottom right it shows the controls of which 1 is for liveries, can change it then
Dirt rally 2 will always be special but ea wrc plays better in my opinion. The visuals and sound overall i think i prefer dirt rally 2, but gameplay ea wrc
Wrc by kiloton is better simulation.
Dirt is more arcade style game
Asphalt stages still feel wrong to me.
2019 vs new game and dirt rally is so fucking better
Dirt Rally 2.0 look and play is more realistic.

Dirt rally 2.0 > Ea Sports Wrc
WRC feels like a hybrid between DR2.0 and Dirt 5 . They toned down the simulation aspect
