To this day it still baffles me that Ark wasn't given the ability to break the 9999 damage limiter like that one summon from FFVIII... Eden I believe it is? Considering how long the animation was, I feel letting it break that ceiling was the bare minimum xD
In the FFIX alternate fantasy mod Ark will strike twice if it does the full animation and it will almost always be 9999 damage on both hits if they don't resist, nullify, or absorb shadow
Its the moogle an eidoleon pretending to be guardian mog. If i remember right all her summons can do two different attacks depending on which gem she has. The moogle does a holy attack and cant remember the other.
FF9 is my favorite number entry on ps1. Only tied with tactics as my favorite final fantasies for the ps1. My second number series. Just behind my favorite in this series, which is FF6 ❤. I love how they brought back medieval times in this game. Callback of some of the originals. The music is very superb. The story is very meaningful and outstanding. The summons and magic are not overtop like FF7 and FF8. Each character is either very likable as a hero or very hate able as a villain. Sadly, the only thing I hate about this game (more questionable approach) is the final boss. However, I still love this game what it is as it became for the fandom. A great callback of some of the originals.
Man I don’t think there’s ever going to be anything that recreates the astonishment we felt as kids the first time we saw summons (from ff7 to ff10). The aesthetics could not be topped.
The first time I triggered Eikos Phoenix flame Rebirth summon was on my very first play through in the fight against Necron. I was stunned and freaking out at how gorgeous it was. It literally saved my ass and let me deal the final damage to win the fight. For the longest time I thought it was part of the story lol!
We NEED 8 & 9 given the 7 remake experience and they need to STAY as full turn based games. I will die happily if it ever happens. Also would love a FFX full remake but that wouldn't really make any sense until PS6 or PS7 lol.
Sometimes I wished for FF9 for the plot instead of kidnapping Eiko to extract an Eidolon because what happen to Alexander kuja would just have the characters collect the Pumiece pieces to summon the ark which is a powerful Eidolon.
I always found it odd that the ps1 version had times where the frame rates were increased, parts of Madeen, Ark and Odin’s summons (as well as Meteor and Holy/Flare) seemed to run at almost 60fps. Yet the remasters slowed all of that down? It’s just laziness on Sqaure’s behalf. Especially given what fans/mods are able to show off in awesome videos like this!
The parts that were faster didn’t have the battlefield being rendered, so the GPU wasn’t taxed as hard. At least for the PS at the time of release. I dunno how the game is being run on modern hardware, either a port or emulated PS
Well, all the summons/eidolons for Garnet & Eiko is based on Items, the accessories, there some that can be acquire through the main story, while the others u must put some efforts for the sidequest or the hidden exclamation For the Carbuncle to change skills effect, Eiko must equip accessory like Moonstone, Emerald, etc... So does for Fenrir to change from Earth to Wind, eiko accessory equipment is the key
So summons from Terra are Fenrir, Phoenix, Madeen and Ark; while Gaia have Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, Leviathan, Odin, Bahamut, Alexander, Carbuncle, and Atomos?
Summons were pretty lackluster in this game as far as gameplay was concerned imo. Carbuncle and Phoenix were the only useful ones. The offensive summons just did too little damage compared to physical attacks of Steiner, Zidane and Amarant. Vivi also dealt better magic damage than most summons.
They hit really hard when stacking their jewels and using the right skills and equipment to improve magic and elemental attack. Also, summons have always been just for show. FFX i.e. they are basically the plot, but any other attack can overshadow summons, are they lackluster? That happens on every FF
@@gabosilva4608 They are somewhat half of the plot in FFIX too, Eidolons are the centerpiece of some of the most memorable cutscenes. They just aren't important in the late game anymore.
