J class boats are THE sailing boats. They are fast, but not fastest. They are elegant and beautiful. More than 60 years ago I saw a picture of J class boats and felt that they were the sailing boats. The feeling is still alive.
Miss the days i worked on the old Bystander, owner and family of Velsheda, where the best people i ever worked for.. Those where 5 years i still think and talk about..
20 years ago I worked on the support vessel bystander (for Velsheda).. sailed on Velsheda often, she still looks as good now as she did then ...miss those days..
@Truthhandler 1 hey, no not in 97, I joined them in 98 or 99.. officially joined them in Tahiti, when the owner got there, but was on it race week before that in Antigua..I was permanent crew on Bystander those days..
there is an excitement to watching the cat's wiz around the course...however nothing compares to the majesty , power and elegance , of a J Class ...... in flight !!! it's breathtaking beauty and stature is the stuff of dreams !!!!! a bit like trying to compare an Eagle soaring... with a hummingbird .
I rather see an Americas cup class with these beautiful "Jays", than the vessels of today.. The catamarans nowadays can newer compete with these classic designs and not to forget what I would call true seamanship.
As A classic yacht admirer, Lovely to see the real classics Endeavor and Shamrock in the company of their newer sisters, I do seriously dislike the black sails on these magnificent designed hulls!? These Yachts became legendary in their portraits made by Beken of Cowes, when Egyptian cotton was the luxurious material to sport. Would You change the body of A classic blue Bugatti or A red Ferrari into A black carbon fiber?
The stunning Beken of Cowes photographs from the back in the day are lovely, but Egyptian Cotton is heavy sh- er, stuff, especially when it gets wet. Considering the size of a J's sails, using modern, lighter materials is understandable. I was just thinking that the Black Sails have a certain beauty of their own. I was pairing that thought with "aren't we lucky to have even one sailing example of this amazing class, but it seems there are at least five now." I'm confident that a photographer with sufficient artistic capabilities could discover beauty in the carbon black sails.
I have zero desire to race. My idea of pleasant sailing is entirely different. But it's undeniable that these J class yachts are the absolute pinnacle of elegance and beauty. If I was Bezos or one of these other mega rich people I'd have one built just to grace the earth. Forget the space dildos
If I am corect Svea was drawn by Tore Holm a Swedish boatbuilder that had his workshop in Gamleby on the east cost of Sweden some 300km south of Stockholm.
Ok, go to www.theamya.org , click on class boats "J Class" .We sail 1/16 scale radio control models. My Shamrock is seven and a half feet long ( 90 " ) weighs 82 lbs , has a 10 ' deck stepped mast. in the classifieds there a J is for sale-4K.
They need to go back to the Js as the new America’s cup boats....these foiling things are the dumbest idea going, no tactics, why do they even need rules, there’s no close racing. No tacking duals...it’s boring....bring on the J boats
Given the significant international presence, the lack of diversity - in this case meaning persons of color - is truly impressive. Considering that the territory- Bermuda - is majority black, this is perhaps the greatest display of "modern" segregation. The regatta would be more impressive with greater colors, beyond those flying on spinnakers. #racebetter #bebetter
Maybe people of colour just are not into yachting??? I dont see any reason why they cant participate, there are alot of rich people of colour. We are all one race dont encourage racial divide under the cover of "racial equality."
Oh, here we go again. Boo Hoo. And more impressive with people of color on board? Who the fuck cares what color the people on board are? Obviously you do, but most don't. White, black, ethnic...I don't give a hoot cause I am not racist. The only ones that give a hoot are the racist.
Fuck off and quit being a racist, no one feels sorry for you. Quit acting like some victim. I bet you are not trolling the NBA wanting 80% white players since that would better reflect the US population....are you? Stop being a hypocrite!!!!
The J-Class is by far the most stunning sailing vessels ever built.
I cannot imagine anything more spectacularly beautiful in sailing than these boats.
Big, powerful, and stunningly beautiful boats - the pinnacle of sailing !
I like the lying on deck part, the rest of it looks like really hard work.
Sailing. Pure Sailing!
No other words needed.
If you know that feeling, there is nothing better in life!
J class boats are THE sailing boats. They are fast, but not fastest. They are elegant and beautiful.

Al AC races should be sailed in these majestic boats. What an incredible beautiful site to see them sail... I agree, no other words needed.
I love the blue-green bottom paint against the dark hull.
Truly, works of art.

They are amazing indeed, whoever designed them. Well fucking done.

Don't worry there will be plenty. 12 Meter boats too.

absolutely fantastic!
It's about time. Grace over tech. I'd rather go slow in beauty than fast and ugly.
All show, no go.
Just stunningly beautiful. J-Class Rules
How majestic.

The smiles on the people's faces say it all
THIS IS REAL RACING!And very beautiful..mindfulness
Multi-Hull America's Cup boats are grotesque!
Yes. Agreed. I'm glad someone else is saying it. Why not bring back the J and be done with the multihull gorgons?
Love the J Boats...……...So elegant and fast...……...
Why isn't Endeavour being raced? I would so love to see that!
Because she is super Special and basically the most original J Class....
This is what a yacht should be. Ellison ruined the whole thing.

The competitive materials dictate the color. But I happen to agree with your aesthetic objections ;-)

What a sight!!

The movie 'Captains Courageus' shows what these majestic boats were really made to do, not just race around bouys.
actually the film was about Grand Banks fishing schooners--nothing to do with these America's Cup sloops.
Love these boats but I felt the editing was too brief per shot. A few seconds each would have helped.
Lord! These are all beauties!!
Aquatic ballet with over $100m worth of nautical beauty ❤👍
The best is Reliance, this is the sloop.1902, Charlie Barre
WOW WOW AND MORE WOW!!!
Oh great now i want a model.

SailorAllan cool thank you.
A living hell to watch. I quit.
To many hectical cuts with many unimportant scenes!
Wrong form of "to" should have been "too many cuts"
@@lukedubois7679 You sound like a 13 year old school girl.
👍👍👍⛵
The video editing is absolutely terrible. There is simply no time to really see the boats because all takes are cut too short.
A lot better than I could do
you can say that again! just stoopid!
I kept having to hit the pause button just to get a good look at the boats
Yes, typical of an editor 'doing his own thing' He thinks it's artistic. Needs to be properly directed
agreed--what works for a teens music video does NOT work to show the majesty of these yachts.
I wish ..
Bloemsma ''s finest
J boats almost justify unbridled capitalism. Almost.
Lol, that was funny. You have no idea how many not wealthy people enjoy these kind of events. Enjoy the dark side😅
They'd go better in the Gulf of Maine

Bloody irritating these short clips. Looks like it's edited by someone who doesn't have a clue what sailing is all about.

Let me guess. You were always the last guy picked in a dodge ball match. #getalife

Maybe you should stick with what you know best. Playing basketball and selling drugs on the corner. Diversity is the death of culture.
