Wow, around 1:20 when the narrator is speaking of the emotions at the start, people wiping their eyes, I was too. I need to think about why this race excites me so. This is only my second Vendee race, and the first time I watched from Day One. I've only sailed a couple times in my life. This is about the only sporting event that really excites me. I like motor racing, but this is the ultimate.
Great video again Matt. I was on the pier Sunday morning, arriving at 6:00 AM but too late to have a premium seat! Some of the crowd spent all night there, then the second wave of fans came around 3:00AM, but what a great memory.
In the meantime Boris shot up from 29th to 3rd, probably happened after the release of this video, hope it will be covered in the next publication. That surely was a heck of a ride.
It would be nice to have a media class before the race to advise all the skippers to keep their phone on landscape mode, to look at the camera, not the screen so we don't have a close-up on the nostrils! it would be more pleasant.
They have a diesel engine + generator, as well as a hydrogenerator (i.e. a water turbine). The Vendée-Globe organizer announced that they want to ban power generation from diesel from the next race. If you want an example on how dependent they are on that, you can watch this video of François Gabart having a breakdown when his engine failed to start in the middle of the ocean on his Macif trimaran ruclips.net/video/PJCrWMlFDhk/видео.htmlsi=JD_TgcINCfuaILPn
Somonce again big risk for all involved. No sleep and no rest all the time.Am I talking BS or this is not normal. How can they get permission to sail.Is there any control. Not only this sailors but everyone on the sea is put in danger.

this open vulnerable must be very very cold and uncomfortable out there. Good luck Boris, good luck Niocola
The Vendee Globe is just about superlatives, the longest, the hardest, the biggest, ......just the top of the best
Great coverage and specially the graphics. Loved the animation.
On the downsize why only interview english speaking skippers?
Q: How do they produce electrical power to the autopilot and instrumentation?
They have a diesel engine + generator, as well as a hydrogenerator (i.e. a water turbine). The Vendée-Globe organizer announced that they want to ban power generation from diesel from the next race. Do the competitors have some sort of satellite up link? Strange to have on board commentary of solo sailors.
Starlink mini
@blackfishexpeditions6954 thank you
Bon chance¡¡¡
Du Québec de vrai champion
How can you keep track of one boat? Where are the Chinese now? Why are all the ropes on the floor? Isn't it dangerous? Thank you. Happy wind!💖⛵
Monohull 24 hour distance record 🤔 But are foilers really monohulls
Amazing😂
Go Pip Hare!
At 12:48 one can briefly see another person on the boat. A ghost?
Stock footage/b-roll. Either from a doublehanded or crewed race or from tuning or test sailing when shore crew is often on board.
I wish it could all just slow down a bit again...! 🤣
Do we have a South African competing?
👍💙🤭😇👍
microglobesail : la Vendée globe en 5mts.
No Windvane Steering?
It cannot cope with the speed of the IMOCA.
