I hold my breath whenever I see those monster waves building behind the IMOCAs. Just amazing footage and to be able to hear from the sailors onboard is so interesting. Matt, you are making the Vendée Globe more and more accessible to the sailing community! Thank you!
Thanks for your coverage. Not only AC should recruit you, but VG as well 👏. I hope we‘ll see some coverage about Justine Mettraux who does just fantastic on her first VG ever.
I heard her say "jury rig" and thought.. wait.. isn't that "jerry rig"? Nope. jury rig is the nautical term for an improvised sail, and the latter seems to be related to the former and well as possibly "jerry-built". Learn something new every day.
To wear or not to wear a harness on these boats is a big topic of debate .......Some skippers believe that being dragged along behind at 20 knots doesn't offer much prospect of getting back on board
It was always going to be luck that des ides this race! If you lose a foil it's down to luck, masts breaking, and can not be forseen. Life's a bitch then you get marrisd! Doh
Thank you Matt Sheehan for the excellent explanation
You're very welcome...glad you liked it
A great explanation about OD masts, and class rule change in 2025. Thanks once again, Matt!
A pleasure Nick

Thanks for the mast load analysis and rule change info. Very insightful.
These sailboats are the coolest looking things in the world. I would LOVE to go sailing on one of these bad boys! Yes sir ree!
Your weekly updates are the best
I Love It! Stormy Monday !!!
Holy smokes, things are getting intense with the teams!
The sailors have amazing endurance 😮
Best updates, vielen Dank!👍
Lots of feeling surfacing here after my GSC attempt last year. Itching to get back. Love seeing the southern ocean again..hehe
one arm, I am a sailer who lost use of my left arm, I could never sail now. GOOD MAN
love the simulated graphics

Could almost taste the joy of that guy when he fixed the rail on the top of the mast
Bon courage tu est la meilleure 😂

No harness on bow not so smart with only one hand to grab that rail! One odd wave or swell and your gone!

@@PlanetSailOnline Good point! Valid! Sobering, I see why they like not to go on bow as little as they can!
They should maybe create some tech that turns the boat to wind if the crew falls in
Within a couple days everyone looks ten years older and stressed and depressed and regretting it

This is 2 days after the event !!!!!!
The clue's in the title......'Week 6 Review'
very few actual footage, only random fills. Just the typical worthless Vebsdee Globe video. Gosh this race is uninteresting.
