I watched the Twilight Zone on TV last night and this song was in the last episde. It is a very beautiful, haunting song about lost love and loneliness. It is a wonderful song!
I hope I don'r spoil this song too much for you. I love it too. There are many edited/drastically cut versions of the original song. In its original version (I found on lyric genius) It's about a homeless silver-tongued psychopathic stalker who becomes obsessed with a young girl, kills her young boyfriend, takes off and in the process F- Up the impressional young girls notion of what 'could have been'!
"In retrospect, it may be said of Mr. Floyd Burney that he achieved that final dream of the performer: eternal 'top name billing'- though not on the fleeting billboards of the entertainment world, but forever recorded among the folk songs....of the Twilight Zone."
Just saw her on 'The Fugitive' episode, a surprisingly modern take on California farmworkers. Owes something to 'The Grapes of Wrath'. An early 60's countercultural babe/icon. Bob Dylan confidante, married Hugh Romney if I remember correctly.
Baby Reindeer brought me here
Same here, if the scene just hit for you the same way Im sorry... sending love and healing.
Me too. I remember it from an old Twilight Zone episode. Very haunting but I love it.

AWWW.....so sadly written 💔😢
His name isn't even in the song though.
The Twilight Zone episode was about Mr. Burney looking for an unheard folk song for someone to record as a hit record.
I thought this was an old 60’s classic that I had somehow missed. It has an eternal and haunting beauty that touches my soul 🙏
It is tho?!
It's from the 60s. It was first featured in an episode of the original twilight.

Haunting and beautiful at the same time
Love the song, the lyrics! Love verything that has to do with Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone"

Such a pity that she no longer has sung songs, so a special voice.
