    Great, careful step-by-step tutorial Biltwell crew. Sound is good, lighting is good and the VO is great! Saving this for future maintenance!

    Thank you so much for this video. I have an 883 hugger that I have on a motor mount right now and I have been wrestling with the idea of doing the gaskets myself but I question my skills. This is a confidence builder for sure. THANK YOU

    Great video , Just a quick question.
    I have watched other video’s on this and most say to remove the plugs and rotate the rear wheel while in gear to find TDC to take the pressure off.
    I am curious as to why you do not do this ?

    Surprised you didn't first find top dead center to relieve the pressure on the rocker box before removing the bolts. Also surprised that you didn't line up the new gasket before putting back the lower valve cover on it.

    Great explanation, but make sure the gasket is sat correctly before tightening up.

    I need that tool for that rear rocker cover with the short 3/16th hex head wrench, where was it purchased and who makes it? My 3.7 fuel tank has a support bracket right above this hex bolt and can't get it out, even with cutting down a 90 degree Hex wrench to fit in it still can't get it out, maybe they previous owner used red lock tight or something on it.

    What kind of wrenches? My cheap socket set and torque wrench doesn't fit under the backbone. Maybe need to upgrade to snap on?? Nice explanation and video btw.

    • @BiltwellCycleParts
      @BiltwellCycleParts  5 лет назад

      This is the tool Rob uses to get those bolts under the backbone:
      www.jpcycles.com/product/910-880/kastar-rocker-box-cover-wrench-replacement-bits?mrkgcl=444&mrkgadid=1000000&Google+Shopping++-+All+Products&product_id=910-880&adpos=1o1&creative=278659151686&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KCQjws7TqBRDgARIsAAHLHP5RdBRgOQ7m2ZkBpWbOMWcT-yjJC85LBuW6B2hffX432maz4a-fnMMaAuEfEALw_wcB
      If you don't have access to one of those, you can trim down a regular allen wrench to fit it under the backbone.

    There may be less pressure on the springs if you turn the engine to top dead center

  • @robertkrieger8394
    @robertkrieger8394 5 лет назад +1

    It's this guy would put the Piston up on top dead center both valves would be closed and you wouldn't have that pressure on the valve springs then you wouldn't have the pressure when you take them bolts out for the rock armsthen you wouldn't have to worry about criss-crossing your bolts as you take them out

    How are you supposed to torque the rear bacj rocker cover bolt when the frame is 100% in the way . Dude didnt even torque it right in the vid, how tf do you fit and tool town there

    Hi do you need to set bike into gear and find the piston on the top position? Thanks

    • @rcanoli99
      @rcanoli99 5 лет назад

      I thought so too - you roll the motor over till both rockers are flat, which tells you the valves are closed (or nearly closed). Here it seems he just loosens the 4 bolts slowly and evenly and apparently it does the trick.

    You’re not even showing how to remove the rear temp sensor. You can’t even take off the rear rocker cover without doing that.

    I’m pretty sure the reason he is not explaining TDC is because if you don’t already know this then you shouldn’t be doing the job. IMHO
