In their acceptance speech, when they won an award for this tune in Norway, they said it was simply meant to be a video on their live talk show, that it’s a really stupid, lame song that started to live it’s own life, and they were kind of left on the sideline, watching it going global like a couple of parents who were both quite embarrassed, and a bit proud. Their follow up video was “Massachusetts” because they would not go along with those who were expecting a “What does the hippo say?” or something along those lines.
Ylvis asked the Stargate production company to repay a favour, and the joke was to produce a high quality music movie with a terrible idea, and before they could give that punchline on their comedy TV-show, it went viral and ruined the joke. Absolutely brilliant!
I heard about that too, they were being silly and wrote the lyrics in less than an hour. It was supposed to be an humour sketch by two brothers and the thing gone viral lol. But can we talk about their singing? apart from sounding like animals, they can sing.

Can't believe it's ten years now since the song came out! I was around 21-22, and it was always fun out drinking and just yelling out singing Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow! and see who would join in and how long it gonna last. More and more join in, suddenly everybody singing 🤣fun times

Stonehenge by Ylvis is just the most funny. You need to listen to the lyrics. These two brothers have had a lot of shows and their own talkshow in Norway. They are comedians and brilliant singers/ songwriters😂❤

LMFAO, great reaction. I heard this song years ago and honestly, I was flabbergasted by it and I watched it several times and now I absolutely love it. Today I decided to watch some reactions to it just for some giggles, you did not disappoint, you held a straight face and did a bang up job of breaking down the very difficult lyrics (LMAO) for us all. lyrical dualities. Ylvis is genius. Listen to Weezer’s Green album. It sounds VERY commercial, but Hash Pipe’s, “you got your problems, I got my ASS wide”. The vocals are slightly doubled, he says ass n eyes at the same time. Hashpipe= ass pipe, meaning he can take it. Rick Rubin saved so many artists from themselves n is a genius in fooling the haters.

Shocked 😂 On a serious note, I actually really love Ylvis (they are comedy brothers and they have been around wince 2000, longer than the American Lonely Island which they are somewhat similar too). They have had different humor shows on TV for many years, and the songs on YT included this is mostly from their Late night talkshow (from 2011-2016). I watched that talkshow for years, and I dont think I have ever laughed so loud and so much as I have done with all of their shenanigans, schetches, satire, parodies, jokes ….. everything about their humor I love.
….and their songs/music videos on YT which they mostly for their late night talkshow are all great. Its always about totally random stuff and in different musical genres. They have really good voices too and could have been pop stars if they wanted. There is so much fun stuff from Ylvis on YT and you should react to more of their songs. Massachussetts, The Cabin, The trucker’s hitch, Jan Egeland, A capella, Work it, Engine for Gabriel, Old Friends…. Their series «Big in Kirgisistan» when they went there to become pop-stars is so funny….
«The fox» was meant only for their Norwegian audience in their talkshow but it went viral almost over night after they published it on YT. They even were invited to several of the biggest talkshows in USA and performed all over 😉 The song is acrually produced by the world-renown Norwegian production company Stargate. They have produced songs for several international artists like Rihanna, Ne-yo, Katy Perry, Sam Smith etc
