The great thing about Ylvis is that they're not through-and-through just funny and silly. This is basically about the destructive desperation that comes out of a loss you can't cope with. (He lost his wife two days ago, remember?) Most likely, "Francis" doesn't even exist. (Unfortunately, the - in my view - important final scene in the video is hidden by RUclips trying to advertise two other videos. There you see just the two hats floating in the air inside the car. So he's probably just a personification of the narrator's sadness and anger.) But of course, the song gets even better by being funny as hell on top of all the sadness.
"I'm doing just fine on my own"...maybe there is just "Francis". ;)
Maybe people need to remember that they are comedians !!!!!
The last scene in the car, there are two hats floating aside, nothing under that. Two video banners cover all of them. They appeared to be ghost all along.😂

They are comedions with a lot of black humor.....I love them YLVIS forever.......they, sing, write,makes shows,makes music ...simply ......they do evrything.....but not for real....just for fun..😊❤

You may be looking too deeply into this comedy duos "meaning". Creating surprising stories and expressions can give new perspective and maybe even insight, but I think these guys just like to make people laugh. If anything is "said" in this video I think it must be that old people are still alive, so maybe we should think of them that way until they die...maybe? eh? Apart from that "maybe" I feel that the shock factor is just supposed to make you laugh.
Ylvis have a long career of sketch humor and pranks, and because they are talented in music they sometimes choose to epress their humor that way. Mabye this is just my opinion, but I appreciate them for their ability to just make people crack up. Their music videos have a surprisingly high production value, but there are also a lot of prank and sketch videos out there. If you like to see some extreme shock factor you can look up their "Ylvis Gullruten 2011" sketch, that they performed at an award show.

I like you dont see them as inly comedian. They are very talented musicians.
Some times this darkness comes out in their work. Also they did this classical song while they were like "murdering" each other. I don't entirely know why they do that. Ylvis just hit the nail on it's head. You reach an age when all things are boring. So you seek out the thimgs you never did...I have passed 50 now, by some years- I don't care anymore. Not going to shoot any horses or throw rocks. But I know the feeling. Why the hell not!! :)
But admit you WOULD shoot some horses if you knew you would get away with it?

If you look closely at the car at end of the video you will notice two hats just floating around in the car,
meaning they are ghosts and that none of the things they did actually happened.
So it was basically themselves who had died and not their wives, and now they are ghosts who found each other.
