@@alancarter41 I can relate to Jari on his creative kicks, once you get into that phase you create like there's no tomorrow and in Jari's case it's majestic, once it's gone you just have to sit back and wait for it to come back. Even the perfectionist tendencies that he has for the mix and all that junk, i can relate to 100%. It's like i'm looking into a mirror with the exception that Jari's musical creations are WAAAAAAAAAYYY more elaborate and better than my own. I can understand very clearly why it takes time for Wintersun albums to come out.
Cosmic vibes is what I get from these guys. Absolutely stellar composition/execution. Can't get over Kai casually playing his signature 4/4 over the 6/8 rhythm, the usual sick syncopation & permutations and when Jari deploys his magnificent fry scream at 4:20 .. I'm being taken up and carried off to a place beyond time. I know many will ask for the third big one and rightly so. These are absolute masterpieces. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
So I heard Teemu say in a podcast that 2 of the guitarists in Lorna Shore are his students. Teemu plays the blue/green guitar with 'Time' written in kanji on the fretboard. I notice you haven't had Lorna Shore on your channel yet but if you hear them you will appreciate just how talented they all are. Says a lot for Teemu's abilities. All of Wintersun are just off the charts though. This is one of my favourite songs. Enjoy hearing it in your head for the coming days lol.
Yes you got that right. This is an awesome journey, it gets you far away, if you will. Thank you for you comments. Greets from the land of metal music; Finland.
I've just recently discovered Wintersun. I usually turn off a song when I hear the harsh vocals but Jari's enunciation is so good I can actually tell what he is singing, and the harsh vocals he uses add to the tone and meaning of the song. Still not a fan of them, especially when they serve no purpose, but Jari mixes them with clean vocals in a way that makes sense. Add in the awesome musical ability of the rest of the band and you have something really special. Great reaction, looking froward to more. Keep rocking.
Notice how at 2:53 Kai plays in the standard right-hander way, and then at 3:09 just as easily switches to a leftie style. Saw the same thing in "Sons Of Winter & Stars". As a leftie myself who learned to play like a right-hander on a standard kit, I noticed Kai's ambidexterity right away. Could be wrong, but I think he's a leftie by nature.
If you like Wintersun, you might also enjoy the Finnish "Folk Metal Big 5" and their "forefather" Amorphis. Kalmah included for the sake of slight likeness in appearance between you and Kalmah frontman Pekka Kokko: Turisas - Stand Up And Fight Ensiferum - Into Battle Moonsorrow - Kylän päässä Korpiklaani - Beer, Beer Finntroll - Trollhammaren Amorphis - On The Dark Waters Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony
I play quite a few bands on my radio show that are from Finland, a lot of amazing music comes out of that region. Thank you for the suggestions I will check them out for sure!!
Next songs to react to: Wintersun - Land of snow and sorrow - Live rehearsal @ Sonic Pump Studios ruclips.net/video/cZB6JVllJSg/видео.html Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter) Official Lyric Video ruclips.net/video/qIiZFpOQnd8/видео.html
Nightwish actually didn't raid the Wintersun roster intentionally. Juka picked Kai based on their friendship and mutual respect, and then Kai recommended Jukka for essentially the same reason. If Tuomas had just poached Jari's rhythm section I would have been pissed, but it happened organically through friendships.
I guess many have suggested Loneliness(Winter) I really think you should react to whole album, only 4 songs(seasons). Fucking amazing work by these guys(Jari) and it should be listened in order.
I don't know how much post production work was done on these recordings, if any. But they could pass for studio tracks, they sound so perfect. You should work your way through the Forest Seasons album, four songs, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. And there is a great live performance of an unreleased song called "Way of the Fire", which is supposedly for the next album "Time II", which fans have been waiting ten years for so far.
I'd wager just mixing and mastering were done afterwards. Having seen Wintersun live, they do sound like this live, albeit with different mix, obviously and no Kai, :(. Teemu even nailed the Winter Madness solo, 0 mistakes.
People are gonna tell you to listen to Loneliness (Winter), it's a big fan favorite, but it's the last track on a concept record, The Forest Seasons. If you're down, do Spring Summer and Autumn first. Also, arguably Eternal Darkness (Autumn) is the best track on that album.
ah cool thanks, Iv actually been wondering the best way to tackle that one, they are such a technical band with a lot going on with a concept on top of it all
Hi! Couldn't find more than 2 Wintersun songs on your channel... My goodness, check The Forest Seasons, 4 relatively different songs in just one lyric video suite. I don't know why, but I'm obsessed by it, listening to it at least 2-3 hours every f**g day during the last few weeks. Comes to my mind every morning when I'm getting out of my bed. (Maybe this is not healthy if it continues for longer). The video I'm talking about is a little less than an hour, but every song is clearly separated from each other. Not much to see in the video - except that it's a lyric one. Occasionally some really hard-to-get lyrics that make you... confused. Still extremely powerful. ruclips.net/video/ZFfN3G2vjqM/видео.html
The only complaint I have about Wintersun is that they have not published more albums 🤘🏻🖤
oh yes... and Time II is still in the making... since years
According to their fakebook page, Jari is working on 5 (yes 5) new albums and Time II should release in 2023.
Cause Jari is lazy as hell and can't focus in one single album
@@KreshDraven6 Or perhaps he has a polyphasic personality.

Thank you again. Other bands hear and see this and just must think we will never be this good!
they certainly have raised the bar thats for sure!
Thank you this was my first time hearing them and added them too Spotify and fb
Glad you like them they are incredible for sure
Wintersun, Loneliness...
Loneliness is good and should be done, but first finish this session with Land Of Snow And Sorrow. Too many people skip this.

Couldn't agree more! They take you on an epic journey, I love it, its so awesome!!!

Some incredibly talented musicians that is for certain
I played the keyboard in a metal band for a while and out other guitarist had some lessons from Teemu as well.
@@annametsapelto3870 Nice!
Just awesome! 🤘🤘❤❤🎶🎶 Land Of Snow And Sorrow (TIME I Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios)
Yes you got that right. This is an awesome journey, it gets you far away, if you will.

Thank you, they are an incredible band
My evening just got better 😀👍
Thank you, this is something else
My head spinning it's so technical I call it math metal takes on a journey love it rock on
Althought it is very technical, but it has not take away expressiveness. They are in balance so to speak. There is a lot of emotion in their music.
I could just listen to that intro for hours and be happy 😁
Such a beautiful guitar duet!!

Wow that is crazy!!!
Kai is leftie so you are right.

I concur🤘🏻🔥
React to last one of this same rehearsel "Land of Snow and Sorrow", amazing track and very different from other 2, but it kicks some serious ass!
Thanks for the suggestion I will be checking out a lot more of these guys for sure!
Thanks I will check that out
These guys once toured with Jinjer. An interesting band from Ukraine you probably should check out. Pisces (Live Session) is a good starting point.
Great suggestion thanks I'll check that out!

Are you aware that the music video sound is compressed? Maybe a setting in RUclips.
Thanks I'll look into it
Nice beard , and pretty good song , isnt it ?
Thank you and yes this is amazing stuff, Im looking forward to checking out more from them!
Why is it peaking or flooding? And how would you fix that?
what is it you are referring to?
Is there some kind of loudness equalization going on here?.. Sounds very strange.
Only on your video.
Not sure, I'll look into it, thank you!
Land of snow and dorow isnt that bad
