Informative and amusing video, Nathan. A suggestion for a future video: How about explaining the different nicknames watches have acquired like Pepsi, Batman, Hulk, etc. Also stuff like how a “tank” watch got it’s name, what a “small seconds” dial is, and the like.
I never realized how many times I looked at the date on my watch until my Explorer II was in for repair and I was wearing my Daytona. It drove me absolutely nuts not having the date on my wrist. Thankfully, the Explorer got back after a few months and the Daytona went back to the safe.
There is a difference between dual-time zone watches and true GMT watches. Most noticeable are a 24-hour bezel and the day/night separation. A GMT watch can display 3 time zones at once. And a tachymetre is not restricted to miles or kilometres, there is a very good video about it on Peter Kotsa's channel.
Wow, thank You. I've been a follower for several years. However, I've lapsed until I found this practical video. Huge Thank You. You are now again on my video feed. Thank You. Jeff ECK
I'm not a freat watch enthusiast but did see an amazing complication on the Antiques Roadshow. It was a full automaton scene of a woman spinning yarn by a fireplace. The spinning wheel forming the main focus and most traditional feature by nature of already being a wheel.
I like Seiko’s day-dates Skx and 5 Sports, Early in the mornings preparing for work, I like to quickly be on top planning things. I have higher brand watches I wear after work and on the weekends, but it’s G-Shocks for gym and Seikos for work.
I used to go to an Amateur Astronomy club on when younger to look at telescopes weekend nights. they would cancel view nights when a full moon was expected because the glare prevents the faint objects from showing, maybe a moon phase complication is a good excuse for amateur astronomers 🤷🏻♂️
I have others, but my go to watch costs $9 at Walmart and gives me the magical ability to catch buses without pulling out my phone in the rain. It's complication is a second hand. But, I do like the easy to read simplicity, even my nice watches are simple
I'm a watch lover. I own 5 automatic watches. And they need service once in a while. The cost for a service for a watch with complications is high, believe me.
Thanks for that. Watch novice with three watches (Apple Watch, Tissot quartz and my favourite Frederick Constant automatic) I always found the complications confusing but understanding their history and where they come from makes it clear.
Personality styled for yourself... Some like Dry Martini, some like Benny Goodman or Pre - smoked pipes or Havana cigar.. Thanks. Royal crest, masterpiece jeweled.. 🍃🦋🍃
This is not the norm for this rather good channel in that I cannot see why it was produced or to whom it was targeted ? I am a watch person so I cannot see that it was made for me as it’s far too shallow and incorrect in at least one area. The tachometer is not a complication. I fail to see how this would assist a rookie to the hobby either as it is somewhat disjointed? It’s well made and well presented I just ask why it exists? A video of this nature is needed, many all ready exist however there is room for another if targeted correctly. Sorry to knock a very good channel. Kindest Bob England
Great video. I hope one day you do a collaboration video with Federico. I am a huge fan of the moonphase not for its functionality but for its romanticism. A great GMT watch btw that can pass as an elegant dress watch IMO is the Grand Seiko SBGM221.
I actually am still wearing a pocket watch from 1856 made out of bronze because I don't like my phone in my pocket and I haven't worn a watch in a long time
I don't think chronographs don't work as dress watches. There are very nice ones and everyone who knows his watches, can appreciate a nice watch, even if it is not a plain watch face
For a dress watch below $10k I'd avoid date complications and just go for a time-only dial. The majority of options do not have matching date wheels and make even relatively expensive watches look like cheap mall buys.
I dislike complications. Imagine having to change the date every other month or so. Within a few months, my watch would be permanently showing the wrong date. I think I may be a very lazy person... ...and I just like watches clean and simple. Black (roman) numerals, white dial, hour and minute hands, that's the watch for me... But it's a good video -- I will admit that the moon phase did have me reconsidering. I recently saw an old (18th Century?) French clock that showed the tides of the river Seine. Since it was in York, it had been altered to show the tides of the river Ouse. Now that's a complication.
Why is this guy telling us to watch him in full screen? What gives him the right to make such a random demand from his viewers? I smell extreme entitlement
As a Watch Enthusiast, This Video Is A Blessing...you should make more of it. Keep it up 💟
A watch video! Good job gents!

Most honest part of the video right here.

Love seeing a fellow watch addict on the channel! Nice!
I never new watch "features" were called "complications". Thanks Nathan!

Great addition to the team! Watches go hand in hand with mens style.

Excellent explanation, Thank you

Do a tier list video on made-to-measure suit brands! Indochino, Oliver Wicks, etc. The off the rack one was helpful.
Fascinating video. Thanks. I have a 60 year old watch my father left me. It doesn't go at all, but at least it is 100% accurate every 12 hours!!
A Ford Pinto (1:25) for a comparison, "Love It." I'll take a watch over a smartphone any day for the time.

Informative!!💯
There is a difference between a caller gmt and a traveller aka true gmt. Also center seconds and hacking are very common complications too. ;)

Fell in love with moonphase 20 years ago. Got a few of them 10 years ago. Love them every day.
I just think of salvador dahlis memory of persistance time is surreal
You’ve missed the G-Shock’s Barometer complication
the ressence type 3 watch has a temperature complications, because the watch dial is filled with oil and it works best in certain temperatures
A watch is a great way to avoid taking out your phone. A date complication helps too.
The tourbillon was useful for pocket watches.
How about the Navitimer by Breiting or the Chronomat
Do for shoes, motorcycle, cars too
gentlemen's gazette, and if I have long hair, to the waist; And I dress like this, what hairstyle do you recommend? by the way new subscriber 🧐
Great to see you highlighting that sports watches are NOT dress watches - irrespective of what Bond wears! 🙂

We need a video on vintage pocket watches.

How did he know that I was using other apps while having the player in thumbnail size?

@@LatimusChadimus Good man.
Nathan is a great host.
Beware of fashion watches. Movements can be had for $5 or so. Quality isn't necessarily part of the mix.

Speaking of Treasure Trove I stopped at that jewelry store today and bought some more silver coins
I wear a egin dress watch in gold fil in square Case
👍 Thank you

"Starting to heat up here in Minneapolis?" It's 92. 😁
Welcome to Minneapolis
I'm not a big wristwatch guy, I'd prefer a pocket watch
Rolex daytona 😍🥵

1:34 - привет, Владимирская земля!
You can not afford 95% of the watches shown here.
women have the real complications
Can you please cover how a gentleman would remove nose hairs?
