Nathan, I enjoy these chats with Federico. It's always good to hear insight from a dealer/merchant with the knowledge and experience that Federico has. Nathan, you are a terrific interviewer. Great job!
Full agreement except for your discount comment. I hope for and usually receive 10% on watches under $5,000 and 10-20% on watches between that and $25K. Over that price, I have too little experience, and suspect there is quite a variance. I would walk away from 2-5% unless it's a hot item or new issue.
I bought my Rolex GMT at Fourtané Jewelers in Carmel during car week for retail. The sales rep called me and said one had just come in and if I wanted it I needed to come in which I did and got the watch.
It makes sense. If you invest in a product, you need to trust the brand. If a brand has been making great watches for ten years, you can trust them, as opposed to a newly emerged kickstarter campaign. Of course, it's not linear. It doesn't make a difference if the brand is a hundred or two hundred years old.
I recently subscribed to your channel and love the watch content. On a future episode, could you and Fed talk about how to match a watch with an outfit for formal settings, business casual attire, and jeans? Do you match the dial or the strap to your shirt, jacket, or shoes? When do you where a leather strap versus a bracelet? Etc.
I just got the Casio Databank that Marty McFly wore in Back to Future 2. I'm having so much fun with this watch for 39€. I'm back in the 80's when i was a kid. 😎✌️😀
Are they worth it is subjective. Are they worth retail? No, considering even some independent retailers get 60% discount off retail so that just goes to show how much they’re fleecing people at retail stores.
Duping people that they're on a wait list when they are not is some seriously scumbag behaviour. Just tell them no and they can make alternative plans rather than wait on something that's never going to happen. For some people buying a watch is a major, once in a lifetime purchase, maybe someone put money aside for years to buy a grandson a graduation gift or something and lying to them in order to make it seem like your store has better customer service than it actually does is not gentlemanly in the slightest. It's fine for businesses to reserve items for regulars, but lying to people that are trying to spend thousands at your store isn't ok.
i liked this video despite the fact I'm not really interested in watches... I have totally taken Svens view on this, but its just not something you really see with suits, unlike shoes which are always seen.
The waitlist works this way for Ferrari as well. They want to you buy a few used ones and have service performed on them before they will let you buy a new one.
I realize that a luxury watch is a fashion accessory and not a time piece but I haven't worn a watch in over 10 years. Like everyone in business, my cell phone is my watch. I don't have the money to buy one of these watches but if I did and went in a store and was not treated like a customer, I would never ever go back.
I enjoy these discussions with Federico about watches on this channel. Federico is a dapoer dresser and looks the part of a successful businessman. However, I have noticed one detail that needs to change. This is the third time Federico has been on the channel in the past few weeks. Can we get Fed another jacket that is not orange? Just saying…variety is the spice of life.

You're quite lucky to have Federico as a guest - he's one of the few that tells it like it is, not pandering to the masses and their biases.

This was extremely helpful!
Great interview! It was very insightful.
Love the end when you both present your outfit 👍🏻
If you must sign up to a waitlist, then move on to another brand. Don't propagate that nonsense through society.
Let’s face it. The only people who do that are Rolex buyers because they know nothing about watches.
@@iio58nah not the case at all. in fact, there are some of us watch nerds that know exactly what we’re after and getting.
You guys need to do a review on Optimo Hats! I think we'd all love to see a video review on them.

Love these conversations, Fed is absolute class!
It’s the brand which gives the watch value. If I made a killer watch it would depreciate like crazy once bought at the authorized dealer.
Unless you price it at $50M . Limited to 3 pieces..

You need to match it to your moustache.
Love the watch contents! 👍🏼
Can’t wait for Rafael and Federico’s watch and style discussion.
Cheers 🥂
Great video with Federico. Honest no nonsense questions and answers👍
Nathan’s losing some weight, good for him. Great episode, reminds me to learn more about watches.
Thank you gentlemen for telling the truth ❤

Keep up the gentleman watch content!
Honest, excellent content
Federico rules!

Can you guys do a video on western wear/traditional Latin American wear?

Why don't you make a "Ranking men's RTW trousers?" video?
Is Jovial a decent swiss watch ?
By now, Federico is an honorary member of the GG team.

Very informative
what about 'Van der Klaauw' watches?

Glad to hear you've enjoyed the videos so far, Danny! Federico visited us for just a short while, so wasn't able to bring a whole wardrobe with him.
Frederico! Looking great!
Fed makes such good content
