Building a classic menswear collection is an ongoing journey and today, Preston walks you through his wardrobe and shows you the purchases he built it with over the years.
00:00 Introduction
By walking you through Preston's wardrobe as it currently stands, you’ll get some insight into how he made purchasing decisions over the years, what he likes and dislikes about his options, and what gaps he hopes to fill in the future.
Preston’s Closet Tour
02:04 Jackets
03:52 Full Suits
Wardrobe Gaps
As far as gaps in this part of Preston's wardrobe are concerned, he would like to add some more full suits to his collection - single and double-breasted styles, two-piece and three-piece, probably some incorporating more patterns. Most of his suits are solids, so, he would like to add some of those, perhaps a medium gray suit that fits well would be one that he would like to acquire.
05:47 Shirts
08:07 Short-Sleeved Shirts
09:05 Polo Shirts
10:27 Trousers
12:47 Sleepwear
13:59 Shorts and Undershirts
14:34 Casual Trousers
14:48 Sweaters
16:07 Large Hall Closet
19:22 Formal Wear
21:16 Other Pieces
22:59 Shoes
Additional Wardrobe Gaps
Preston would also like to get a few other overcoats in the future, and as mentioned, more odd jacket styles, which were also covered earlier. But with that said, that basically covers Preston's whole wardrobe as it stands currently.
29:54 Conclusion
As Preston alluded to with the pieces from Hawes and Curtis, his wardrobe does continue to change and evolve over time which, in essence, is one of the broader themes of this video.
So, whether you’re just starting out on your sartorial journey or you’ve got a well-stocked collection that you know like the back of your hand, chances are that there’s always room for at least one new piece or for a new combination of pieces that you hadn’t considered before.
And if it’s been a while since you’ve done a thorough evaluation of your own wardrobe like Preston did today’s, we’d suggest that you do so. You may find garments that you’d like to toss, repair, or donate or you might just come up with some new ideas for how to put your wardrobe elements together. Хобби
This is a dream come true, maybe a sign of hope that there will be a " Raphael's grand closet tour" in the future to come. I don't mind if it's hours long.
@NRx pilled That's what she said
"Hello and welcome everyone to our 24 hour Gentleman's Gazette livestream. Today I'll be giving you a closet tour, and then hopefully we'll have time for a few shout-outs."
This was my immediate thought.
ahem, cough cough ... days
@@wasekhasan1094
Wardrobe tour for days, I'm in 😎
Gentleman's Gazette is a bingeworthy channel. Has helped me come a long way.
I misread that as cringeworthy and was prepping myself to fight you 😆 But yes, I agree.
Video title: “What’s in Preston’s wardrobe?”
How I see it: *Shopping list*
If you decide to remove the military buttons, PLEASE hold onto them. That era and style of coat is growing more rare and so are the buttons. As a reenactor i always advocate for preservation of pieces as such.
i find a lot of prestons wardrobe quite pleasing on the eyes, the off white shirt with the navy suit in particular looks good on him.
I agree, the subtle colors look best
Preston you have such a sweet personality and you are so natural on camera, even in this less scripted style. You always brighten my day.
With that jawline and height, this guy has to be the evolved form of Reviewbrah
He is young gigachad
I would love if both of them sat down and had a nice chat
@@timboi3399 they have
@@watcherwlc53 video?
Reviewbrah: "Even that isn't my final form!"
I am a huge fan of gentleman's gazzete and this is my humble request, can you please make a video on walking canes?
Great idea.
Perhaps one with a concealed sword blade could accompany one of Preston's vintage suit. Phil.
@@phillipj.moodie3077 I could not have agreed more.
Excellent idea.
Good idea
I love the subtle humor you started to use in your videos. Also, I adore that madras jacket. What brand is it?
Preston tell the people we want to know where to aquire that jacket
@@miskatoniclibraryreference3002 I think it's Brooks Brothers.
Only on your channel I watch videos of that length, just because it is always both so entertaining and informative and the it stays on that level throughout the whole video.
Also, Preston's eloquence is a big reason too.
I'm looking forward to Part 2 and maybe more wardrobe tours in the future!
I would’ve love to see you get into the brands of each piece. I had the assumption that you guys only wore bespoke stuff but I am pleased to see you make a American eagle blazer look 10x more expensive
So I noticed that Preston has a lot of secondhand things.
If I was to go to other videos from other RUclipsrs, you could probably find some expensive suits and a lot of people kinda boast about it (that and contemporary fashion). As a man who was once a poor boy, seeing Preston with a lot of second-hand things goes to show you that all you need is knowledge, a good tailor, and confidence in what you wear; that will make up for everything.
He’s just got the personality of a teddy bear. Somehow is so cuddly
Preston’s Polo in this looks strikingly similar to one worn regularly by my late grandfather, made me smile.
Fantastic video as always gents, would love to see some more similar ones of these from Raphael and Kyle in the future!
Happy New Years everyone!
Thanks for letting us peek into your wardrobe, Preston!
Wow - you lucked out with that camel jacket - looks made for you.
Thx Preston, enjoyed the tour, looking forward to Kyle’s tour.
I'm really hoping this is a 3 part series.
yes, I really hope Rafael and Kyle make one.
This was an excellent video, it really shows what is a very thorough but not overwhelmingly large wardrobe. Preston is a terrific host/tour guide. I look forward to part two!
Thanks for the video, Preston. One small comment: While I do appreciate most items that make up your current wardrobe, I would say that most lapels are a little too slim, thus emphasizing your slender build.
Happy new year to all of you! Greetings from Germany
I'd be excited to see a Hawes and Curtis review, an excellent suggestion! I have previously bought a few shirts and neckties from them, and been impressed by the selection of styles and quality
1:25 Back up! Preston has Wife!?!?!? (I mean this in a good way btw lol)
@NRx pilled I dont recall but ok
I like these videos quite a lot. Preston talks intelligently...no slang. He has great values...very positive. Just received my shiny suits....one of them is blue. All go very nice Edmond tassels loafers. With shut downs here in Staten Island....more determined than ever to look positive
Shiny suits?
Thanks Preston I needed ideas of what to store in dressers, i only had sweaters and socks, this has gave me loads of ideas. I saw a beautiful set of antique drawers that's pulling action felt like it rolled on air but didn't think i would be able to fill them given the prevalence of hangers for shirts/trousers/jackets.
I must say that i quite like the evolution of the video making, one sees that you are tyring to improve steadily and you see those changes every time. Your videos helped me a lot in the past year trough my journey to more classic menswear. Thank you! Greetings from Austria and a happy new year!
Can you do a video on how to dress like a 1930s fashion illustration?
I would recommend watching vintage burcshe. He goes into depth about style in the 20s and 30s
@@willtaylor8702 Excellent suggestion. I too highly recommend Vintage Burcshe.
@Hiro, it's not cheap, but I highly recommend Gentlemen Of The Golden Age - Ebook available on the Gentleman's Gazette website. It is full of vintage illustrations with descriptions and explanations of how to achieve a similar look.
Beautiful collection of everything that you have. I didn't get bored at all watching the whole thing.
What a cool fellow you are. This is one of my favourite Gentleman's Gazette videos! You've given me an idea on how to deal with my crowded closet. You don't keep shoe trees in all shoes. Tongue pads? I have never heard of those......I need to get some!
I see Preston and I click! He has great style and I love his personality. Happy New Year!
I really enjoy the vintage clips that your team weaves into your videos.
We use either full zipped dust bags or 1/3 plastic shirt covers for every garment in our wardrobe. They are incredible. They prevent garments from rubbing against each other and keep the dust off
I have needed this for a long time.
Never knew Preston was married. We learn new Things everyday
I LOVE the oatmeal quarter zip!
Thanks and happy new year to all ✌️
I've been collecting classic garments for three years now. I would love to show you my wardrobe. Great video!
Very interesting thank you Preston. The Parkhurst caught my eye and will be my next shoes/boots. They are made in New York I believe, and are of very high quality. Happy New Year! You have been a great addition to the Gentlemen’s Gazette.
one more of these for kyle and the trilogy is complete
This video was long overdue 😊! Also, so happy for you that you got married! I'm getting married to my fiance in June of this year! Best of luck to you Preston! Love all the videos you are in
A very nice wardrobe indeed! Thank you for the tour/presentation :)
Thanks for inviting us into your home. I imagine it's a little scary to open up your privacy like that to the ever polite RUclips but I enjoyed it. Thank you.
hello preston..........nothing better than a well turned out man . i have grown to love the style , of the casual unmatchy look ......very nice . great share , thank you , for sharing...........
Great video! Thanks for sharing and fun to see and pick up a few tips! Oh yeah, Go Yankees! 😊 (Always enjoy it when Twins come to town, good team! Cheers!)
Those space saving hangers are now in my shopping cart kn Amazon! Thank you Preston!
Concise , to the point and real life practical advice. Many thanks.
Always upvote Preston. Great video.
Some in-depth advice on shoe care would be great! Including suede care.
@@henryw.elliott499 Thank you very much for this excellent recommendation! It is highly appreciated.
Happy new years to all members of the GG!
Don’t ever change, kid.
Can you do a video on how to keep moths out of your clothes? Im having a hard time with them. Already lost a few sweaters to them and I am terrified about my suits.
In Germany we have "moth-paper". And pheromone traps.
Happy New Year!!
Thank you Preston for the video. The Gentalmens Gazette has inspired me to dress up more when out with the ladies
Happy new year!
Great video. The beginning was great. 👍👍
Preston is a great guy!
Austin Powers said that you can never go wrong with twins. ;) Thanks for sharing Preston, great to see your entire wardrobe. All the best for the new year.
do a series of closet tour for Preston, Kyle and Raphael
Great job Preston, love your style!❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍 Cool review.
I would love to see a video about the different types of fabrics available for garments (cotton, wool, silk, linen, cotton, Egyptian cotton, tweed, Oxford, etc., etc.).
Great video! Would you be up to doing a video or telling us how you repair satin lapels. My tailcoat lapel is in desperate need!
Those Ace mark wholecut shoes are jawdropping.
Loved the opera pumps ! Finest shoes in existance for black tie events, I have seen them in british high end series and movies 😊
That intro! :D Your wardrobe is very good!
Gotta love a well dressed man. Brilliant.
I personally like to see people enjoying what they so and following their passions, keep it up guys 😁👍
Delighted to see so many Charles Tyrwhitt shirts - I didn't know the brand was available in the states.
Late comer to the GG table....Preston, I want a magic wand that would morph your wonderful wardrobe into a woman's classic wear wardrobe!! Thank you for the thorough informational and enriching video 🧡
The bold checkered sport coat (I have two) and the ivory double breasted dinner jacket are my favorites.
I'm personally selling clothes and shoes that either don't fit me or are gathering dust persay. Recommend clearing out the closet regularly to make room for new pieces and minimalism. Feels good to get rid of them too.
if i reviewed closet, it would take hours. but i love every article. beautiful collection! we need an update
Great to see Preston's wardrobe! Love the camel jacket! You're a top fella and I anticipate positive comments after anyone seeing your video. You, Sven and Kyle are real gentlemen. Some people will always post drivel or incendiary comments from afar; if they do....may all the world's moths converge on their wardrobe!! ;-)
Best
Tony
I'd like to say I constantly go about in a vintage raf greatcoat. It's easily my most complicated coat and I've never once been accused of stolen valour.
Instead it seems to bring fond memories to people so I wouldnt worry too much about that :)
Great video, thank you.
Kyle, you are now on deck.
Very interesting! Thanks Preston! 😃
Preston, your a cool dude...thanks for showing us through your wardrobe.
You mention doing some restoration work on the silk lapels of your dinner jacket. Would be very interested in seeing a video on this. I have a dinner suit and one of the silk lapels is showing some wear and tear but I have no idea where to start!
"you guys should all make a house tour.!!!"(pleaseeee)
I realy enjoyed the tour :)
The fit of those Hawes and Curtis jackets looks really well on you.
Great video!
I'd love to see some more brand reviews (maybe T.M. Lewin, Hawes & Curtis, Turnbull & Asser, Carl Gross, Hugo Boss...)
That first jacket was so sick! Major want lol.
Happy new year Preston....
Great wardrobe
Hey Preston! great stuff as always. I have been wondering about the bows because i see many vintage pairs suffering from the same reddish hues. I don't think it's the end of the world, but I would be curious to see how one would go about re-dying them. Cheers!
That was fun thank you Preston.
Can you make a video on classic mens fashion that teenagers can wear as teen use slopy clothes for me polo I's too casual dress shirt too formal can you help?
There is nothing in between a polo and a casual dress shirt in terms of formality, so depending on the weather, I'd just wear the casual dress shirt (let's say a button down ocbd) with a jumper on top. If you are in the warmer months of the year, just wear a simple polo tucked into your trousers or shorts.
Very insightful, it's interesting to see you buy quite a few English items 👍
I love Preston so much
An insightful tour of your well rounded wardrobe. I observed that three piece suits particularly favour your slim form, as do cardigans. I can see why the wine is a favourite.
Please resist replacing the buttons on your trench coat, they display the heritage of the garment. While commendable, the suggested stolen valour is irrelevant as it is a vintage piece. I removed the original brass buttons on a magnificent West German Navy peacoat and regret it deeply.
Consider a Crombie overcoat (their herringbones are most handsome) to compliment your attire.
All the best Preston.
Thanks for the video Preston
I'm rather surprised that Preston does only have a rather small amount of suits, trousers and odd jackets, and such a large collection of shirts.
However, I have seen some pieces that I really like, in particular some more casual sport coats. I totally agree that you can not have too many of them.
I remember Raphael make a video about how to combine orange but you could probably make another video showing how to combine that orange vest with other garments
nice stuff. did you have the vintage items tailored?
hey Pres!
Thank you very much for the video, I really like that you are the young man on the team, if I can give you some advice, it is that your body type can get more out of it, that jawline is very enviable (of a magazine model) but those hair entries take away points, I think that if you change your hairstyle (something more modern and harmonize with your type face), maybe fix your hair entries that age you, you would look very good and it would give you a lot of confidence.
Very well made video.
Preston, can you talk about the round you have, i like em. Which brand is that??
Can you make a video about Filson wool jackets? Especially the Mackinaw Cruiser? Are they worth it? I trust your opinion
Ready for prep indeed :)
Nice story about a wardrobe that I could easily wear and live with. Phil.
Those space-saving hangers are SO more practical than mines. Wouldn't mind knowing where you got them.
