remove the bike reference.... you were walking in circles and standing in the middle of a bike lane. What do you think would happen if you d do that in the middle of the road in any US city? Makes you look like a..... fill in the blank yourself

Fun fact, there is a hotel/hostel in the Rotterdam cube houses. This is also the cheapest place to sleep in Rotterdam. Standard price of 30 euros per night in a dorm room!
You might have missed it but Rotterdam is a city that was bombed to the ground in WW2, so almost every building you see is made after that with 2 exceptions, the two oldest football stadiums in the netherlands where spared. The oldest being from 1916!

the dutch system allows you to use a contactless card to check in and out so no need to grab a metro ticket - also whilst the thalys/ic direct is quicker most of it is in a tunnel - just use a normal ic train take a seat on the top deck and watch the world go by it takes about 30 mins longer but is only around 17€ each.

Thalys is (was) actually a Belgian company with headquarters in Brussels. However, some of the Thalys train sets are owned by the Dutch state railways and actually carry the NS logo. Furthermore, the term Bullet train is being used here as a generic name for high-speed trains. Thalys/Eurostar reaches 300 kmh between Schiphol and Rotterdam, as well as from Rotterdam to Antwerp. That is not an unusual speed for high-speed trains, including Japanese Bullet Trains.
So, to me it seems not that hilarious to refer to this train ride on a Dutch high speed railway line as a Dutch bullet train.

The Thalys is a French TGV, its top recorded speed is 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph) but of course actual service speed is limited in order to not deteriorate the infrastructure. Also, Thalys only reaches its top operational speed of 300 km/h in France, as the NL and Belgium decided not to build dedicated high-speed lines because of their small size. Thalys is now merged with Eurostar, but will likely keep its own branding for now.

    • @aadmannee3928

@@Sayitlikitiz101 The Netherlands has high-speed line, HSL-Zuid. Max speed is 300 km/h (190 mph). Two SNCF TGV Thalys PBKA trains are owned by NS (dutch railways), but part of Thalys (now Eurostar).
