The GT350 is the only Mustang with the flat plane crank, correct? For the guy's who know, how's the reliability of the flat plane crank? They sure sound sweet AF.
@@slickrock1371 Seeing that the engine is special, a lot of people have problems with blown engines, likely because they don't pay attention to oil temp or oil pressure. If you take good car of the engine, you'll be just fine.
After seeing what Ford Performance did with this car...I had to have one. So I bought one and I’m loving every minute of it. Im not a ford or a Chevy guy, I’m really more of a Porsche guy. This car represents a milestone in American sports car manufacturing. I’m not sure I have the cash for a complete carbon conversion, but I know it would make it even better. The car is special...it’s a gem.
AlexCoronaPhoto you Can't compare the 2. The GT has always been a Ferrari beating race car. The mustang was an every man's fast car. one is expected to be expensive and the other expected to be cheap. Opposites in many senses made under the same badge.
There's a guy that lives near me with a GT350R, and it is BY FAR the best sounding Mustang I've ever heard in person. I mean I've always loved the sounds of a Terminator Cobra, but man. This thing. Amazing.
AceDeuce221981 i drive a 1990 camaro v6 and it looks badass one day this stang was at a light next to me and i already know im not winning any races so i just went normally but he floored it and took off and that stang sounded soooo deep and lumpy and great
Jay: "How much weight you have saved on the Mustang with this?" Guy: "We have saved 650 pounds on Hellcat!" He is true businessman or politicaian this guy... :-)
Yeah, it would be pretty awesome. Weight is definitely the enemy of performance. My question is if Ford can make an aluminum F150 why wont they make an aluminum Mustang?
Jeff K Probably because the next GT will be made with both Carbon fiber parts and an aluminum chassis. Development costs will not be cheap and be in the billions because the assembly line will require a complete overhaul to accommodate it. Mass production aluminum welding is just beginning and Ford is a leader in this area in the U.S. Europeans have been doing it for 15+ years. It's expensive!
I guess the onus is on every car company to make something faster than what has come before it, horsepower without any hybrid technology has hit the roof of what it is capable of for production cars at the moment before F1 ignition technology trickles down, only way were going to see a faster next gen Mustang is through weight reduction as you said
Lower on the totem pole for fleet CAFE standards, would be my guess. F150 is their workhorse. So you update the techniques on one line, and seeing how repair, paint, and performance issues turn out over a few years, then you take it to other models.
C Brooks Under the current President, CAFE standards are sadly, to be removed. Ford is not building Aluminum chassis yet, only truck body parts. But you are correct, they will learn best in class manufacturing techniques. Carbon fiber is the future for monocoque bodies if weight reduction is the goal. Large cargo trailer chassis made from carbon fiber with full structural engineering is likely, reducing its weight by half.
i swear... watching jay's show always leaves me stunned at the detail, professionalism, ingenuity and just the engineering technology of our current generation. especially because jay always shares how it was back in the day. very intriguing for me.

Hideous job if you ask me....Give me perfection or put the steel back on. Zip~

Ah Jay, I love watching your video. I have a question ? Is the automotive advertising on the walls of the big dog garage original ? Are they reproductions ? Would a video on how you acquired them and what are you favorites, pique your interest in doing and presenting to your fans ?
Thank You Jay for living our dreams... Hey can you please set up microphones near the exhaust and a camera on the gauges for every car. Right when you say "Lets go for a ride" then start them. Then we can hear the exhaust sound and get the full picture. That would make this perfect show, perfect ;)

The panel gaps seem to be off to me. Like they are bigger than the factory gaps. Also I'd like to see the crash rating for this car compared to the factory metal.
Jay, The price for a GT350R fender from ford is: RH is $1,372.12 and LH is $1,143.43. So the Carbon Fiber fender is a fair amount less $$ than the OEM. A door shell is 1,082.20 for RH, 1,101.23 LH. Hood is $2,203.02

not really

Naa he bought them to makeup for the exhaust on his Ford gt

They are smooth from the coating.. they just don't bend in the joints..YIKES
Literally loll'd in the office. Amazing, love it!

A prefect start to this Monday.

Yeah. I noticed that gap too. They messed up with that one.
I was thinking the same thing! That must whistle at high speed
And I imagine they realized that when filming and I figure they picked the best angle to film. The other side must be the same. Check out @ 14:44.
Looks like a standard Mustang panel gap.
The gap is for quick tune ups, just slide your head and arms in and do your adjustments. Easy.

Actually, the last plasma TVs were made by LG and ended in late (I believe) 2014.
I love the SpeedKore stuff.
They need to do this on a Tesla P100D
Glenn Watkins 100% agree. But for that matter I think all electric cars should be using carbon fiber as standard practice. Give it another ten years and carbon fiber will be nothing special in automotive use as the price and process becomes cheaper to do.
Glenn Watkins there’s a company already doing that
Teslas are almost all aluminum already so not really as worthwhile like on this dinosaur car.
Commercial planes are typically aluminum. The 787 Dreamliner has some very significant weight savings through incorporation of carbon fiber. The tensile strength-weight ratio of carbon is simply incredible.
Like the car reviews.... not the overblown commercials for car parts.
Love to be able to remove 500 lbs off my 2012 Shelby GT500. 🙁
Icruz210. Ahhh shut up. LoL.. But ya..... Lmao.
Remove the engine.
Then add Vtec.
Stock Steel 2016 350R 3800lb as tested by Car and Driver. So this is said to weigh 3400 to 3200 lbs
Bruh there will be rotary lambo why not lawnmower crowd control.
BLOODY BRILLIANT...!!!
Why didn't you take it to a truck scale. For $20 they will weigh your car.
Holy cow.Stronger than steel.
0:49 rebuild title or eBay 🤔🤔 lol
If nothing else the look is amazing!
"We have a group of artisans...that's part of our secret" Sorry to say but you should use those same artisans to solve that panel gaps issue....
Like he said earlier, they can do that but customer wanted it "COMPLETELY" stock.
Jay has the best hobby in the world!!! 🙂🙂♥️
1: it's ludicrous that this guy doesn't know how much weight they saved on this car.
2: Jay didn't mention acoustics

up early J ?

That's what happens when Chevy owners drive a Mustang. They're not used to all that power.
Love this car and this series.

Well, it's already got the duroplast panels, might as well sound the part.

That car is gorgeous

That’s amazing how what carbon fiber do in the auto world, when price comes down we will see more in the future.
You should've asked about how these carbon fiber panels handle high levels of sun exposure to avoid epoxy yellowing. Is there some sort of UV protectant in the epoxy prepreg?
