      @@NoNonsenseWhisky I totally agree. The previous labeling was very artistic and gave a feeling of higher end quality. This new label looks like something from the old days and very boring.

    I have now had the Benromach 2009 vintage open for a few months.(batch 4, 57.2% abv)
    It is one of my favourites and shows many different sides when you add some water. I can do more than an hour with a dram of this on an evening. Truly a great whisky.

    At last getting to Benromach🙂 I really like this distillery, they have lots of great bottlings. I hope you will do more. The origins series is amazing. I actually bought this one at a whisky festival right after tasting it. It is so good.
    I don't really care about the branding. Sure the older edition looked better, but when the whisky is this good, I don't care.

    Hi Vin, that was quick, thanks for the review, much appreciated. I like the new design, the old one looked like organic / artisan wine to me - nothing wrong with organic wine, but it didn't work for me as a whisky. I recently took part in an online tasting with a number of their releases - the 10 CS is by far the best in my opinion. Amazing whisky, and affordable! Will definitely replace my bottle when gone. Interestingly there is now a 2012 batch 3 with a different ABV, but I haven't seen batch 2 - perhaps for a different market?

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  Год назад

      I think you might be right, it's often the case that a different market will just straight up get a whole batch. Probably for the best. I hadn't even seen a batch 3 release!

    Not got round to exploring Benromach yet. The triple-distilled edition sounds interesting. I thought it was a new release, but I have seen reviews of it from when it had the swirly branding.
    I'm only familiar with the new branding. I'm afraid to say it puts me off because the bright red and white makes me think it's going to taste like cheap candied cinnamon. I have no idea why!

  • @marclambert8596
    @marclambert8596 Год назад +1

    I liked the artisanal wine design and just hate the rebrand as it screams Cold War at me BUT it’s the juice that really matters. What I haven’t gotten from the non-CS Benromach is the “Springbank of Speyside” I keep hearing in the Whiskyverse so maybe the funkier side comes out only with cask strength?

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  Год назад

      I really like this but the springbank comparison is a bit much I think. I don't get so much funk from it. Classic, but just great quality

    wonderful whisky, but have you tried the 2010 batch 1 cask strength? I'd say it's a bit more rich than this one.

  • @josephjvr6509
    @josephjvr6509 3 месяца назад +1

    Quick question Vin - do you drink your cask strength whisky with water or without. Strongly considering picking this up after I fell in love with the 15 - and then had the Laphroaig CS blow my mind... i found the Laphroaig really came into its own with quite a bit of water (maybe 4 squirts) and im confused by alot of reviewers looking at CS whisky and never adding water - is it a bottle by bottle thing - or just mere preference?

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  3 месяца назад +1

      On a personal level, I basically never add water to whisky, which is why I never do it on screen. That said, if I don't enjoy a high abv (rare) I will experiment with a drop or two but it almost never happens

    Rebranding doesnt do it for me....I have the old bottle box here & it just oozes class....used to stand out on the shelf from everything else too. Nothing else had that style. Love the Whisky hate the rebranding....its now a nothing & doesn't stand out on the shelf. Inoffensive to the point of boring. All a bit sad really.
