It feels so wrong for there to only be one major Direct. I think its really time Nintendo created a smaller presentation for first party stuff if there's supposedly not enough to fill for a full Direct. They could have easily put together a small thing featuring Zelda, Mario Party, the Splatfest Grand Festival, and Mario & Luigi updates. I've just grown tired of just dropping the first party stuff on social media with no hype, then having a Partner Showcase.
That dam of info bursting yesterday made everyone go crazy. But waiting all day... only for Nintendo to post a fairy, and announce a whole lawsuit was genuinely one of the most insane Nintendo community moments lol. They truly are unlike any others.

But not only was this timing especially close, but I don't think they've ever formally announced a freaking lawsuit on their social media lol. Unless Palworld got them feeling extra petty.

I feel like every week of the entire switchS life cycle has been rumors of an up-and-coming console, I've completely dropped out until we actually get a reveal its so exhausting. I understand that it's actually 100% happening now but man am I burnt out
I keep seeing people say that there's been rumors every other week, but I really haven't seen them on this scale since 2022 when the OLED ended up releasing
I just don't understand why they're still holding off.
Given the pace of leaks (some credible and some not), if they hold off until early 2025 to reveal, we're going to know everything about the console before Nintendo says anything about it.

I would disagree the main selling point is the new games anyway and Nintendo's upcoming games are much more secure from leaks than the factories making the switch 2.

To put a silver lining on it, since the normal Nintendo Direct times are gone, the reveal can be at any point now. Maybe even any day.
Which will probably be true until the end of October, at that point 2025 seems more likely.
I just hope people aren't too disappointed if it ends up not getting announced this month. I get that this rumor had people hyped, but Nintendo never said they were announcing the platform in September. Heck it could be early next year it gets announced for all we know. The only thing we have to go off of is that it'll be announced before the end of the current fiscal year, which gives us till the end of March 2025. So, its coming kinda soon regardless, but we can't get over hyped just yet.
The day isn’t over, to be sure. But I’d say they could easily announce the Switch successor any time between now and next Tuesday, or even at TGS for that matter.
Nintendo rarely attends TGS, they only show up if a partner is making them a game or just support by being in the business area but they never show up aside from those things.

I never understood the fascination with the console revealing in september when the more likely answer is they repeat the switch formula with october unveil and a first half of the year 2025 release. I'd love to be proven wrong mind you, but it just didn't make much sense.

With Nintendo not dropping or announcing a presentation after the insane leaks the last few days, it gets me thinking that maybe it wasn’t as accurate or important as we’re making it out to be? Idk, hopefully there’s more to the system that we’ve yet to see like a new ui, new joy con functions, etc.
Even if the leak was real.. so what? They only shows how the console looks. An screen and joycons. Nothing unexpected honestly. What the public is really interested is in the games that the new console is going to have and how well it will run on it. Also it is impossible to know if the new joycons have extra features.
A new Zelda Switch is why you should know there is zero chance of a switch 2 reveal. Use your noggin people

my going theory rn is about a week after zelda. theyre going crazy for this games advertising and i feel like they wont be doing anything before release, and i feel like they dont want sales to drop bcus of a new console even if its backwards compatible
I feel like they were at least planning to announce it soon, maybe they still will, or maybe they've delayed it at the last minute. The NOA developer event, prototype leak, cram of information in August, mass production start date, allegedly filmed commercial, its way too much smoke imo.

I'm fine either way, although it is weird to reveal Switch 2 BEFORE Zelda and Mario Brothership gets released. Like... here's our new system release in March... anyway, buy these games. I mean, it can happen, like PS4 still release game after PS5 released, but it's strange for FIRST PARTY to do that.

Would like to mention that the Switch 1 announcement tweet was posted in the middle of a 2016 Presidential Debate. Maybe Nintendo has changed their minds over the years, but I imagine American politics are not a factor to impact the timing of a switch 2 reveal

Like, right now, my focus is on the stuff that is actually tangible video game products I can purchase with money in the year 2024. I’m looking forward to Mario Party, Mario and Luigi, Donkey Kong, and whenever I get to it, Ace Attorney Investigations.
There has been some news of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam potentially doing major damage to the Foxxcon Switch 2 manufacturing line there quite recently. I wouldn’t be too surprised if the reveal was originally planned for this week but last-minute they had to push it back to next month if these events meant a slight internal delay for the console itself.
If switch 2 gets revealed next year, all the parents who bought their kid a Switch for Christmas are gonna be pissed off when their kids start asking them to buy them the Switch 2. I don't think Nintendo is this dumb.
Edit: Just realized they announced another Switch Bundle for this fall. Maybe they are that dumb.

There are games past February. Prime 4, Pokemon Z-A, new Professor Layton game.

@@xAfroMetalHead1990x zero chances of release in 2026. The CEO promised announcement this fiscal year, which ends in March. So if it gets revealed in March, at latest release is in september. They are not gonna announce in March 25 and release only in 2026.
Did I miss something I don't ever remember Nintendo saying they moved up a presentation. They Just put two presentations into one, indeed it's something they never done before. But once upon a time they never used to do presentations, maybe this will be the norm going forward it's not like they merged a main direct just a partner and indie which once they never used to do them either.
I still think October at the earliest I personally don't think it will be big, just a teaser for a full direct in the new year. Which I think will be March time.

The Nintendo Switch announcement was because of a financial issue (the Wii U situation).

You say that but the timing of most Nintendo announcements are pretty predictable. Directs are usually in February, June and September and if they aren’t they’ll just get leaked anyway. Why would the Switch 2 be any different? They aren’t just gonna move the date out of spite.

No way Nintendo was going to reveal the Switch 2 before a brand new Zelda with a special themed lite system. Even if yesterday’s leaks were accurate, we’re all expecting a beefed up Switch anyways. Nintendo will make their presentation whenever they are ready. Let’s get back to focusing on the games. We got echoes of wisdom coming out next week. Brothership in november. We’ll probably get a reveal early next year and I’m fine with that.

Nintendo clearly stated their goals for this fiscal year.. they are going for 13m switch 1 sales. That’s their intended financial goal.. there will be no switch 2 reveal until January.
The only thing Nintendo is going to drop this year are new switch lites and an OLED bundle.. that’s it.. they’re focused on holiday 2024.
