Dude, you just saved my life. I had a bum window motor and tried to pull the window up with channel locks, shattered the damned thing. Went to a junkyard and got it done real quick
Nice job. I watched a couple other videos but once I saw you had one, I went straight to it because I know your instructions are good and simple. I'm ready to do this when my auction truck arrives tomorrow. Thanks.
I have a 1992 F150 needing a drivers side glass (grass guy shot it out for me!). I was actually looking for a window installer until I found your video. Now, I'll be doing it myself! Thank you!!
You cannot "just turn the vent window frame" like that on earlier (pre 1992) F-Series trucks. The '87-91 Trucks have a rigid vent window frame and you have to also remove the two screws on the door frame lip that hold it in place, THEN work the whole vent window frame loose, lift and pull back slightly and THEN carefully rotate it. The later post 92 models were different and much simpler, as shown in this video. Good and very helpful video though, just that us 87-91 owners (and earlier) wont have it quite this easy... still easy though.
After watching this (and a few other videos) I decided I'm going to attempt DIY glass replacement on my 93 Bronco XLT. Broke it myself when something happened to the gear (wouldn't raise all the way up) and like an idjut, I put a piece of cloth on it and tried to raise it with needlenose pliers...POW! Shattered. Thanks for this video.
You’ll be fine with this DIY. It’s pretty straightforward. A little lithium grease makes the track attached to the bottom of the glass slide better. No problem Tina!🤙
I didn’t replace the seal when I replaced the window but I did replace the lower seals a few years earlier. New seals is always a good idea, especially if yours are original.
@@TheMinuteMasters Yeah I’m not sure about the condition of mine they look OK but when I roll my windows down they get hung up and I usually have to push them down from the back. My passenger door got hit by a deer and I've got a new salvage door. My glass is tinted, the salvage is not, so I need to take the glass out of the salvage door to paint it. The glass is all the way up. How do I get the glass down to take it off the regulators with it not being connected to power on the truck? Is there a pin-out diagram I could use to hook a jump box up to the switch or motor to bring it down?
That's a good question. I don't have an answer for you, but I may be able to point you in the right direction. Assuming your driver's side door is powered and I good working order. I would use a test light and figure out the pins on that door. You would use the test light as a jumper wire between the harness and the window controls. If the test light lights up, then you have found at least a power wire. Then you could then use that information to hook your donor door up to the battery and lower the window glass. Otherwise if you are on Facebook, join "OBS Revolution" page and post your question there. Someone will be able to help you. Crazy idea, you could plug the donor door up to the driver's side harness and lower the window glass that way.

Chase Evans It’s funny you as because I want to change my water pump soon and that would be a good time to do it. However, the trick is to clear out as much of the stuff in front of pully (radiator if you can). Once everything is out of the way you can have easy and direct access. Used an impact gun to bust the big bolt holding the pully on or a breaker bar. You have to keep the crank from rotating. Then rent a set of three prong pully pullers and remove the pully. You want to take the serpentine belt pully of the front of the dampening pully in the beginning. That’s pretty much it. Hopefully that helps ya until I can get a video up!👍
