    I definitely needed to see this video. Been suffering a lot of tilt recently and it’s purely ego related. Learning to lose at anything in life with grace is a skill in itself.
    I sat and jotted notes about my own gameplay as I watched this and feeling a hint of eureka creeping in.
    I have a terrible habit of changing my character instead of doing to work to reach that next level. Tricking the brain into thinking you’re always developing when you’re not.
    That and having blatant holes in my gameplay that I’ve been avoiding.
    Good vid man.

      @marvelo_vs  Год назад +1

      Absolutely. Very common to just say, "I don't like this character" when you start losing, cause losing isn't fun, but overcome those losses and winning as a result? Cosmic level omega fun.

      @rubo8925 Год назад

      @@marvelo_vs I wouldn’t even be blaming my character on my losses, I would with Millia but not with Baiken. Just the thing of learning new combos and then executing them in game would feel good.
      Then you wonder why your main is suffering. So I abandoned half the cast and I’m flat out on the samurai lady.
      Literally just, as you said, whiff punishing and anti airing. Seeing progress immediately.
      So easy to just auto pilot then tilt like a mofo when your ‘strong options’ aren’t working.

    The last one is huge and I'm working on it a lot lately. I played a game, and my brain literally reacted to someone doing one thing but my hands were already committed to my (incorrect) autopilot option and I realized how hard that was going to hold me back as a player.
    Also liked hearing about your backstory. Having siblings that play is OP in fighting games.

    Good vid! it helped me alot to see A few things I could improve on! one thing that might not be as important but I want to say it having a supportive family! that at least understand your hobbies! (I know a few people that even if they are on their phone to their family they are wasting their life away)

    thank you, this was a really good video. I think my biggest issue is 1 and 3 because I really do tell myself all the time how terrible I am at x and y, and it bleeds into other things too, not just gaming. it's really frustrating that I can't take my victories or progress as good enough and I struggle with that. I think that I'm not as competitive as I should be. I don't think to myself often that I "want" to win, and I take a lot of my losses as just being outplayed or outskilled for the most part. I don't have that drive or anything to "do better" but yet I do spend a lot of time watching lots of videos and labbing stuff out. I completely avoid online rankings or anything, but I love going into discords and asking for tips and advice. I don't get it.
    I do think I'm really good at realizing my mistakes or having the time to ask someone to practice with me and work on those mistakes. I definitely feel like I want to be better, but I'm missing a lot of key things to be better, which is hella just mental stuff. This video really helps me feel like, not as claustrophobic about improvement in fighting games. One thing I really wanna do more is go to locals and talk to more people irl and improve more with that kind of environment, but I'm honestly really scared haha. I don't think it's the losing that scares me, but part of me feels like I'm wasting my time, and I don't want to think like that.

      Thank you so much for watching and that you found it helpful. A big part, I've found, in improving is overcoming those hurdles you mention. I remember when I finally said, "fuck it", and went to my first local and loved it. I really recommend you going, it'll change your life and you'll improve at an even faster rate! You got this. 🙂

    Man, are you THAT Marvelo that sticks to Chipp in Strive and is so awesome to watch play? Thanks a lot for the vid, I am used of this stuff but it is nice from time to time to take a step back and get a new view, most of us keep playing by muscle memory at some point and reach a plateau.

    i had a similar journey through gaming and love of fighting games. i was the runt of the litter in my family so i would get stomped in SF2 as a kid and rat carried until i met you guys in high school where our mutual friend who lived near me lent me cap v snk2 and i spent the next 3 days nonstop playing until i got the hang of at least one character. I learned by playing against you and everyone else in that circle until i became the best SF and GG player in my circles in kendall which is saying something sinxe I'm likely still the worst one in the crew we were part of lol

    I think the only tip I slightly disagree with is practicing for hours and hours a day. A lot of us don’t have that kind of time. I think in that case, practicing consistently and mindfully everyday would also be helpful.
