Thanks for letting me host this week's episode guys! Had a blast.
Glad to hear it!
- Javert
Pretty educational tutorial and I like that he uses a very well pronounced and clear language.
That means a lot to me since English is not my mother tongue...
@@FilmEmpireTV Your Dutch accent is definitely showing, but the information is properly flowing.
Framing's a little creepy though.
That was a nicely-paced tutorial. Thank you. I love the other tuts from HF, but they all seem to be in a race to get through them. It's nice not to have to back-up and re-watch to keep up!
Appreciate your kind words!
Jon McPhalen I get that they are kind of trapped though too slow and people won't watch, too much production value for tuts and they don't have time to work on the actual product. I think it's a platform issues though with RUclips not having better interactivity
Thank you again Jamie 👍😊
Thanks for the tips/tricks.
Real helpful, thanks.
Great tutorial for a feature I need as I have quite shaky hands. Thanks a lot!
Glad you found it useful!
- Javert
thank you for the video
Thank you.... I had some doubt earlier regarding tracking points... now its clear.
Great to hear!
- Javert
Another cool thing you can do with this is animate the parent point layer across the screen to create a perfect camera panning motion from footage with an imperfect pan.
This technique doesn't get rid of "jello effects" often introduced by jittery footage. You need a professional stabilizing tool like Mercalli which incorporates CMOS correction. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for - especially if you're working on commercial projects.
Hey, Jamie. Good job, and I did not know you could create a point to set the clip to to re-position it. Very useful.
A small yet useful trick. Those are the best ones. Glad you enjoyed it!
Took me so long to figure this out!

excellent tip video for what I do!
Love your teaching style and your voice! I am not sure I get what is it you track? For instance at 2:29 - do you choose objects that should be 100% steady? Could you explain a bit more about this part about what you would select when you try to stabilise a clip? Thanks a lo in advance! If anybody has valuable links to the topic, please share (much appreciated🙏🏻)
Yo I always see you on the forum but I didn't realize this was who I was talking with, glad to see you on the fxhome channel :3
I'm on Reddit a whole bunch...
@@FilmEmpireTV that may be where i recognize the name then lol (knew it was either reddit or the forum but had to take a shot at which)
Cool!
I tried this on some drone footage from my sons cheap done. But the pictuce is tilted after I have parented the clip to the tracking layer. Is there any way to fix this?
Wow. This is great stuff. I have the Sony a6400 and the Ronin SC....going to do some video just to practice this. Thanks for the video tutorial. I really like the presentation.
Glad it was helpful!
- Javert
Very clear, concise, and articulate! Great presentation voice. Consider relaxing a bit - I'd like to see how you teach when not in full Professional mode. :)
Fantastic!
Thanks for your kind words Jay!
@@FilmEmpireTV Of course!
I really wish you would get the Mercali stabilizer like Corel VideoStudio has. I used to use videostudio for everything and honestly, that stabilizer was the biggest reason I hesitated to switch. I really wish FXHome could integrate it to hitfilm.
Not perhaps the best option but you could use resolve to stabilize/color correct your footage as it has top of the line systems for both. Then just export for use in hitfilm
How do you export the clip after the stabilysation ?
Can you make a tutorial where you either use the 3d model feature or just the particle system?
They've already done that: ruclips.net/video/MSSXbS3iQSQ/видео.html
@@Quesbe Thank you :D
Is there any way how to stabilize motion videos from my bike? There is no single point visible through the video, so I am only able to stabilize the video part when something specific is visible.
hey I have a problem that after I resize the clip the clip still moving
Bedankt man topvideo 😉
Ontzettend bedankt Mike!
But what do you do if you have a video that shows 270 degree surrounding? Like if you turn your camera from front to 270 degrees right...
Hello! What if I have a constantly changing scene like walking? There is no steady point to track.
I love user made tutorials!😁
Appreciate you too my man.
@@FilmEmpireTV It was a really well done tutorial 👍
Good Video. Relaxed, methodical. Good first effort. Features are explained well but a bit too brief for my taste. Another example would be good, along with solutions to anticipated problems that might come up. Again, you did a very good video. I hope to see more from you.
Thanks for your feedback Chuck! Will keep that in mind.
Great tutorial :)
Glad you liked it!

Is there any way to stabilize moving shaky footage? I don't have money for a gimble
What if you have a moving clip? Lets say you’re hand holding while walking instead of just a stationary shot?
Interested in this as well (like the electronic stabilization of a camera)
I would love to know that too. From what I've understood, you would track one or two points as long as they are in the view, then move the boxes to two new points that are far in the distance. And then keep on doing that for the entire clip. Don't know if that's how you're supposed to do it, but I will give it a shot (pun intended ;))
How to stabilize GoPro footage in Hitfilm?
Great job and good to see you on FXHome. Fish at 03:32?
Thanks a bunch! Good eye though, can't really figure it out myself...
NEED HELP: Hey hitfilm crew I got a problem. So my 4K 30fps go pro footage won’t load in the program. It only shows my audio. How do I get my footage on there?

Is this a HitFilm Pro feature or can I do it for free?
Stabilization is a completely free feature, making it also available for use in HitFilm Express.
It's available in both versions!
impressive
Glad you liked it!

How do you get the hitfilm to have a black theme color?

This is perfect for a static shot. But what about a panoramic shot? (Thanks for the video anyway!)
For a panoramic shot you can select one point and track that. If it's about to go off screen, hold ALT and drag the two boxes to a new point to track. Holding ALT applies that tracking data of the new point to the old one. Then select which axis you want to stabilize. If you're doing a pan, stabilize the Y axis. A tilt would require the X axis.
@@FilmEmpireTV Sounds great! i'll try it! thanks!!🙌🏼
I just upgraded to hitfilm 14 after having used an older version for over a year. It worked well at that point but now that I've upgraded, it lags a ton and it crashes when I try to export anything. It's not like I use any different settings from before, so what might be the cause? Have you had people ask this question before? Is there anything you know that might help? I was in the middle of a project so this is kind of a big roadblock for me right now. Whould appreciate a response!
It might be a good idea to contact FXhome's support on fxhome.com as they will most likely be able to help you.
Do you use a Windows 7?
@@ColtonBeckwith Hitfilm doesn't run on anything below Windows 8. Unfortunately this means that you won't be able to run Hitfilm on a Windows 7 computer. I hope that this helps you.
@@NDPProductions I was asking Timelim if they were using Windows 7, because I used to use Hitfilm on a Windows 7 and had similar issues with exporting.

please make a transition tutorial
I'd say this one covers the bases a lot better than the other video on the same thing, but I keep ending up with the footage comeplete spiralling out of frame and spinning wildy - hardly stable - I can't say I know what's going wrong.
Is it possible to stabilize footage using Mocha?
Not that I know of, Mocha HitFilm is good for camera solves/tracks and rotoscope splines but I do not believe that stabilization is an option for your use case.
In mocha pro you can

Da Vinci Resolve is free and stabilization is best in class with single click
frustratingly complicated and didn't at all bring the desired results. wish it just had a built in feature for this.
HitFilm Pro has the Auto Stabilizer effect, which is just drag and drop: fxhome.com/pricing
I see how this can work for static shots, but many people are shooting handheld pan shots. Don't see how this technique can be used for those shots which is the main use for stabilization! Each frame has a different position and size when shooting handheld pan shots. Please try a handheld pan shot and let us know if Hitfilm can actually help stabilize these shots. Good tutorial otherwise.
Not so "simple" and acurate, especifically with paning/rotating footages such as hyperlaps for instance. In this case hitfilm stabilization is a nightmare. I regret that for such an important feature, premiere, final cut and resolve all have a totaly automatic stabilization one-buton. And with hitfilm, you still have to track 2 points and hopping a mediocre result with paning/rotating shaky footages. Sorry i'm becoming each time a little bit more desapointed with HF pro. Speed ramp FX is a pain, no h265 import, no adjustment layer to color grade in the timeline... The software is good but behind competition. Hurry FX Team, competition is going fast...
I agree with you, Damien! I am deeply disappointed with HitFilm after I struggled to figure out to do how to stabilize the shaky video, and make the animation of fuse effect all night without a success. HitFilm has a fantastic VFX features, but it has a lack of automatic VFX features that made us a headache to create various effects with a load of complexity works. I decided to go to DaVinci Desolve, and it is much easier and flexibility. It is similar to old Premiere Pro CS6 that I love. Smile!
Agree, though Hitfilm has some nice visual effects - not sure about other programs
@@3313xx that's why i use resolve with ignite third party plugin to get all the fantastic VFX visuals... Both best features in one tool... Fantastic 😍
@@damienmayoussier4447 Resolve isn't free though? And you use a plugin so you can access the effects of HitFilm?
@@3313xx exactly. Resolve is so much powerful for editing. Ignite just allow me to speed up my vfx process with nice easy to use vfx plugin. But if i was not so lazy i only would be using fusion... But I'm lazy...
Warp stabilizer is way better...
Warp stabilizer does work pretty well in some cases but serves a different purpose. Warp stabilizer smooths out motion but can get some pretty funky artifacts when moving rapidly. The stabilize function in HitFilm is more to keep a certain feature stable in the frame.

You can save loads of time by just using a tripod....
This is true, but I have been in positions where I had no tripod with me and stabilizing it afterwards saved my shot.
This would be a better tutorial if the screen grab wasn't so unclear. I could barely make out what drop down menus he was sellecting. A sharper screen greab and close ups would be very helpful please.
Could we have one on removing stupid background music?
