The BEST for family stuff! So easy to flip out, film some quick stuff, then jam back in your backpack side pocket so you can have two hands to wrangle the kids! 🤣

The Smatree 3 Way Foldable Pole/Monopod. This is what I use which is essentially the same design. The big difference is that it's made of 100% aluminum and cost less. Way less. $30 less. And constructed way better than GoPros version. I have stopped purchasing a lot of GoPro made accessories as they are often made very cheaply.
I'll add that you please look at it. $30 cheaper and made better with better materials doesn't usually equate in real life. This is the exception. I've bought a few things from Smatree.
The Smatree even looks better. Although I love that it's just made better.

Great tip thanks...although its impossible to maintain that when walking a 6 mile hike in nature. I'm at my wits end! I purchased a backpack strap mount thinking this was the solution but I still have bouncy footage. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, blue button is so that the thing doesn't accidentally fold up and crush your fingers. If you're holding the handle, it will only close to a certain point, then you need to press the blue button so it will close the rest of the way. Seems they must have had some finger incidents in the testing phase!😂

Have you tried the new 3 way mount it’s so much better because it has a bigger tripod built into the stick and the grip when collapsed fits together perfectly making it really nice to hold :)
Fantastic Tip... Don't really shoot in selfie mode, but I do lots of follow shots of the kids. You know what would be better than that? Maybe the same mount with a camera on both top and bottom. Then you can flip between the cameras in post from the same exact shot.
I feel like I've seen something like that before. But if not, it would be sweet to make!

Yo David, so can we expect to not see you replace the Gopro as your go to action camera? Especially cuz you were on the fence at one point to replace them
For now, I'm sticking with the GoPros and occasionally using the Osmo Action. I have the Insta360 One R, but my preproduction model isn't working right now. Hopefully soon!

I love the tip, Thank you. When you had this on your gear list initially, it was $69 which I thought was a little high for what it was but then I got one for 29 and now Amazon has it for 41 so not sure why there is so much fluctuation but it has become my go to mount.

Might HELP on a switchpod, but the weight of the switchpod probably won't cancel out the weight of the camera. With the GoPro being so light, the long handle that weighs almost as much as the camera, does an impressively good job at this!

Any tips on ninja walking with the Karma Grip? Still getting that bounce!
Here’s another 3 way trick: you can fold it up and use the folds to grab onto a sternum strap of a backpack, and then you have a temporary chest mount. Great for blogging, just go around with a three way, and when you need an extra hand you fold it and stick it in the sternum strap, really seamless

Hey man! Thanks for that! I have been contemplating getting one of those and now i’m for sure getting it! You should work for Gopro! 😂😂😂 I do have a question though! I have been trying to use my hero 7 black to record sunset vlogs and I do it in 1080p at 24 frames and it comes out fuzzy... what am I doing wrong?
Hmm... Sunset as in you're filming the sunset? Or as in you're shooting around sunset so it's starting to get a bit darker? The stabilization on action cameras struggles a bit in low light. You can either bump to 30fps, which is where the stabilization is most optimized, or just really focus on keeping the camera steady.
Also check to make sure your ISO isn't going to high. Try setting your Max ISO to 400 and see if that helps. I would guess that it's your ISO going too high that's the issue

Nice video! Since the GoPro filps the footage around for you, just turn the camera upside down, then you can still hold the handle!

I like it. Thanks. Got HERO 8 for Christmas... Surprise! so naturally a youtube channel is in the cards. I wish GoPro had developed a quick release system for one device to another. I use the bike mount which involves the QR foot but then if I wanted to quickly switch to the 3-Way its a certain amount of screwing going on.
Wish I had a 3D printer
A quick release would be sweet! BUT, it would have to still give me the same amount of confidence that it was really secure and wouldn't pop off while I was surfing or snowboarding. Great idea man, you should work on that!

Try hitting up GoPro support! Someone else on here mentioned that GoPro sent them a new piece to replace their broken bit. Might work for you too!
