Have not been able to use the speed effect in anger for quite a while so this will certainly help. The 'Show waveform' is, I guess, a 2017 feature. I don't have it in Hitfilm Pro 4. It would really be useful. :-)

How did you make your clip move up and down when the beats come. Is it in the clip or you add the effects. And what is thrt effect you used to move your video to go like up and down.

What FPS were your clips shot at? Does a higher FPS result in smoother slow motion?
Every single time i speed a video up it gets really blurry- Like motion blur and horrible fps
PeskyHuman it’s simply your computer not being good enough
Is that in playback or after render? If it’s during playback then your computer just can’t handle the playback correctly. If it’s after render, then your render settings are messed up.
Would Capture Card make the PlayBack Better? And what size. For a 8gb ram Laptop

You need to preview it in hitfilm's compo shot. it should'nt be laggy after that

I have Hitfilm express 13, and don't know how the prerender works in that version. It's propsbly just a little bit different than in 2017 version but it's still a big problem for me. Hope you can help!

I only came across Hitfilm by mistake. It is by far the most powerful free video editor out there, with options to upgrade as you go along. I'm so excited to explore the possibilities of it, and finding your channel has inspired me even more!

Sooo is there any way to do this but with audio? I tried to do so but audio can't use the speed effect, or it's the version I'm using
every time i add the speed effect it cuts out my video for no reason even though i do all of the steps correctly. send help plz
EDIT: I fixed it, but now it cuts out the sound

Soo what do you do about the blank space?? My file is bigger than it actually is then and exporting takes an unnecessarily long time...
voice got so much deeper than a year ago...
Does it mean with multiple tracks you would have to stack parts of your shot to get it to play through till the end?
How did you get that city sprawl thing to pop up so you could keyframe it and change the speed.I dont know how to open up anything besides the editor because nothing is there.
just right click your clip in the editor timeline and choose "make composite shot". From here you can add effects and keyframe the clip

You should do the same just with syncing your gunshots search up for hitfilm express velocity
So I'm trying to make the video fast then slow on the gunshot but every time I render it, it just stays the same speed even tho I made the middle point slower.

Shiny Films no I honestly can’t thank you enough. I wish I could somehow show my appreciation. I literally wouldn’t even be editing in the first place if it weren’t for you. When I downloaded hitfilm months ago after hearing it’s the best free editing software I had no idea what I was doing, it was so complicated but you simplified it all for me and now I enjoy making tons of edits. Hi ShinyFilms and everyone ! Can someone please help me ? Whenever I do this and play it back there are parts when the screen is just completely black . It plays the clip and then just stays on a black screen . Hopefully someone can help an thank you for making this video ShinyFilms . Keep Grinding ! :)
just delete and reinstall (i subbed mind doing the same? :)
Add another key frame slowing it down after and there should be a black screen because it speeds up the whole clip but doesn’t shorten the physical clip layer

Please HELP.. I tried multiple time to set the key frame for speed ramping.. but as soon I do key frame than half of the composite shot goes blank . I tried to re download the program but it does the same.
it does that for me too
so i set one keyframe at 1.0 speed, moved forward 3 frames and set the new keyframe to 5.0, but when i play it back the speed ramp happens way later than where the second keyframe actually is. what am i doing wrong?
Threre are differnt keyframes so look wich one u using I hoped it worked

So I made a smooth transition to a 50% Slo-Mo but now my clip is too short and the end gets cropped off my project. How do I avoid this?
Worse if I speed up and I have "black" at the end because I now don't have enough footage for the time that is occupied in my timeline?

You must click in the window "Edit Speed/Duration" on the button with two circles and the sparks between those beside the entry fields. When it is a lying 8, than it should works.

Make a keyframe to slow it back down to 1
What if you slice your clip instead of trimming it to get rid of what you don’t want.

i try this with gameplay footage from cod f.e. and i did not understand how the slow effect worked because every time i put the keyframe to 0.5 it was out of sync with the end keyframe ..
what do you do if the you've added music to the clip and when you go to composite shot it plays the video without the music

If your clip is too short than speed effect would simply end it early and give blank output for the rest of the time

This works nicely for video, but is there any way for this to affect audio as well as video? It's irritating to not be able to use the speed effect because it desyncs audio.
