Ive been a fan of tierzoo for years and just recently discovered your channel. I watched all his fishy tier lists and also your reactions to them. I love this channel so much. I have been interested in marine life since I was like 2. I know a lot about sea life. Used to have my mom read me an exert out of my ocean dictionary instead of a bedtime story every night
Seahorses are incredibly successful for their niche of ambush predators with a 90% catch rate. Not many predators can attest to such success, the closest you could compare them to is perhaps the great white shark with an 80-85% success rate. So by survivability alone I’d give them about at least a c+ or a b-. But in terms of everything else but maybe weirdness& cuteness I’d say they’re below average at best. They’re weird, they’re dumb, they’re possibly maladapted, but I love it.
As their tails are longer and bigger, the top speed of the fish might be faster but the speed that the tail is moving side to side at is lower meaning they don't make the cavity bubbles. I'm no biologist but I would imagine that's why they don't make the cool cavity bubble things
As someone with kind of a fish phobia you are really helping me appreciate them a whole lot more Also even with the crippling fear of everything that lives under water, moray eels are sexy as fuck
Seahorses actually have super interesting adaptations that make them incredibly effective predators in the niche they fill, what have the babies done to you 🤧
@Shasvin Puvanesvaran they cant swim well because their prehensile tail is used to grab onto things, helping them remain stationary and unnoticed by their incredibly fast prey as far as I understand. But in all fairness, fish are just about the animals who’s environment and evolutionary pressures I know least about lmao
That big peak in the amount of cod caught, just before the first big crash, coincides almost exactly as to when reliable fish finding sonar became commercially available too.
Just found this channel and I’m loving it! When I was little I wanted to be a marine biologist, and now still I find marine ecosystems fascinating! I’d love to see a video on fish intelligence, as I’ve recently found myself interested in it, especially in just how much it seems to vary from fish to fish. For example, my pet rasboras seem like basically mindless drones, while my betta seems incredibly intelligent in the “dedicated couch potato” way. And hearing about groupers learning to eat invasive lionfish is cool! I’d love to learn more about the broad spectrum of fish intelligence!

"The Jeremy Wade episode" every time he's in south America he catches one and it talks for 15 minutes about how it's a potential suspect in a death.
When he says “I initially suspected pirhana/catfish, so I set off for [location] to investigate” he really means “I want to show you some pirhana/catfish to fill screen time because I already am pretty sure it’s [fish] and am worried we won’t get enough footage for an episode if we go right for it and also there is a remote chance that maybe it could actually be that anyways”
You literally give a carp rotting mud and he makes proteine out of it so for me straight s tier
This makes me curious where you'd put the pupfish (and specifically the Devil's hole pupfish). Are they S tier for being one of the only fish adapted to survive in an extreme specific environment, or F tier for their entire species staying alive only by human protection, being unable to survive anywhere else, and still struggling? That'd be an interesting video from you in general 👍
my adhd didn't do me very well that video while you are playing the themes of my favourite animes in the background. But i love it
Ive been a fan of tierzoo for years and just recently discovered your channel. I watched all his fishy tier lists and also your reactions to them. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with your critiques. I don’t think anyone is perfect, especially with complex topics like biology. My thought the entire time watching your reaction was “you two would be best friends irl I swear.” I really like seeing both your perspectives on these overlapping areas
Love hearing the thresher shark appreciation. My Finnish buddy called them fox sharks btw and I thought that was a cute name plus a great example of the importance of scientific naming
I love how much eels are hyped up on this channel, they have always been one of my favorite animal groups and I always feel like they are underappreciated. I would like to see some more squid content though, they are also like top 10 animals to ever exist for me.
The OFFCIAL Sea Monsters Tier List when?
Sea Cucumber S++ tier!
crabzilla is s tier for sure
I cannot express how much I love this channel. keep making great content!
I was lucky enough to find your channel when you were at 3k subs. I'm happy to say I watch all your videos and they bring back my nerdy science loving self.
me, who has never had an interest in fish till this channel: yes, i totally agree
relatable
7:43 Tokyo rangers op was playing in the background. You have my respect.
Edit: and AOT as well.
Heard fire force as well
also dr stone
JJK too
SAO too
Its a lofi anime ost mix and its amazing
This was great! Would love to see another tier list that goes over marine mammals and reptiles
I don't get to see many tier lists that are not only good opinions overall but the type of one where it's in order in the tier itself. Good tier list, love your videos.
I love fish - sand tiger sharks are my most favourite animal - and I've always wanted to learn more about them, but it is hard for me to sit down and do research and read, especially when most information is available in English and not my mother language. Makes names, terms etc. kind of hard to memorise in multiple languages. So I find your videos extremely helpful and easy to watch, and I learn something new every time. Thanks. :)
I grew up rural australia, the European carp has invaded our rivers and dams, I seen one survive multiple weeks in a puddle no bigger than a small bucket, they are tough as
Carp are built different
I could’ve gone my whole life without hearing “I’m about to give an “ I Have a dream level speech about how much I hate seahorses” but I’m glad I heard it , it fucking sent me 😂😂😂
I actually love Pleco, my favorite aquarium fish. Growing up, my dad wouldn't let us keep pleco for a long time because he said they would grow too big and I always dreamed of having a big pleco in a tank. If only...
Aren’t certain billfish considered faster than tuna, notably the Sailfish?
I think so.
As their tails are longer and bigger, the top speed of the fish might be faster but the speed that the tail is moving side to side at is lower meaning they don't make the cavity bubbles. I'm no biologist but I would imagine that's why they don't make the cool cavity bubble things
sailfish are actually highly derived marsupials
Be careful with this upload schedule. You seem to be doing it every day and that's usually going to burn you out. Love the channel tho
The big man himself has finally dropped the ONE TRUE fish list. That's quality.
13:44 the pufferfish is staring into your soul when AVNJ is explaning.
Bro not only is this dude teaching us so much about fish, he’s got lofi hip hop covers of anime tunes. Keep doing what you’re doing AVNJ
“Only the strongest most adapted make it back to the greeding brounds to breed” 23:37
Ayt either you’re weeb or your editor is a weeb
Either way, respect
As someone with kind of a fish phobia you are really helping me appreciate them a whole lot more
Also even with the crippling fear of everything that lives under water, moray eels are sexy as fuck
You ranking carp and bass so high made my day. Show love for the strong bois.
I get genuinely excited when I see that you have uploaded a new video
I dare you to review and put every water type/fish based pokemon in a tierlist
S Tier - Relicanth
F Tier - Horsea

I never imagined that watching someone talk about fish while listening to music from Attack on Titan could be so relaxing
The whole playlist he was listening to was "Anime but is it ok if its lofi" by Kijugo
He was so hurt about the sunfish but it’s a bad fish dude.
This channel is growing so fast, congrats dude.
I love that you always listen to kijugo! Great underrated artist!
Jokes on you, fish aren’t real. They’re actually many different cells that form an organism that swims in water. So yeah, pretty bruh moment.

Before watching the video, I'm going to predict S tier for the moray eel. I'm surprised he hasn't replaced Soph for it yet.
