- The Supra has been around for 5 different generations from Toyota. This Supra Turbo is a Mk3 and under the hood has a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will notice pop-up headlights, 16in wheels, and 3-piece factory rear spoiler. On the insde you will be greeted by an array of analog gauges. Is the 1991 Supra Turbo the BETTER Toyota to BUY than a 2024 GR Supra?

Old is gold!
I like what you did there!
factual
Old cars are one of the best cars ever made even better than new ones.
So very true! Especially this one!
I second that 👍
100% Bro 👍
You don't get to say that with a roblox profile picture LOL
Prove it.
Love seeing these older vehicles so well cared for...sometimes less tech is better..thanx for keeping the past alive.
Ironically this was a technical showcase at the time. It was WAY ahead of the curve on all the options it offered and they didn't didn't spare any expense. But it's also fairly simple at the time same.
Leased a new 1987 Supra Turbo. Pearl white, 5 speed manual, optional anti-lock brakes. Best car ever. Not one issue. Drove to California twice from Florida. 125mph cruising in the southwest desert. Hatchback made it the shaggin’ wagon, too. Turned it in after 5yr lease for a Mercury Sable Wagon, and a family. Should have turned in the family, and kept the car!
Should have brought the wagon for the family and kept the Supra for yourself...
I love my 89 Supra 1Jz Swapped 5 Speed , all 730HP of it. Love this video , Thanks Joe
Oh man! You have a beast on your hands!! Thanks for the support
They use a 730hp 1jz to open the gates of heaven.
I’d love to see it!
Post videos or it doesn’t exist
I love old Supras. I had an '84 that I bought with 182,000 miles on it. I drove it for 7 years and put another 100,000 miles on it and the only repair it needed in all that time was a $90 sensor. The body on these would rust out before the car stopped running.
I love older cars like this because you have to actually drive them and do so properly. No nanny-state tech to interfere with the experience.
Ah yes, like you’re forced to drive with the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist engaged all times 🙄
@Kilaueaorph4n
It’s okay if you’re too young to understand.
I haven't even owned any cars newer than 01' (That's my Celica GT-S and to me it feels like a modern new car.) Do not in the least care for infotainment or modern designs due to safety standards. MK3 is the most raw driving experience you are going to get for the money, all I can ask for.
Plus ya'know, I like to work on these things myself and you can actually do it without a $7,000 scan tool lol.
It made me emotional....i used to own one...same color same year same everything...😭😭😭😃what a ride
Love hearing it!
2:36 that example is a vampire meaning it’s not abused it has the same OEM parts the paint hasn’t faded the wheels and tires are not damaged so it’s nice
Great car. Appreciate our talk earlier big guy, you truly are a impeccable car reviewer 👍
That means the world Noel!
Beautifully done👍
30 years from now…”What!? Toyota & BMW made a Supra together?!”
Joe; “Hold my beer.”
You are awesome man!
For sure not 😂😂
Scotty Kilmer approves this message 😂😂
I had a 1984 Celica/Supra back in high school, later owned a 1989 Supra Turbo. Then a 1993.5 Supra Targa Twin Turbo - miss them all…. And deeply regret years later selling my MK4 back in 2006. True memory makers.
Always been a Toyota and Lexus guy…
Daym dude respect
What cars you have since then?
Currently own a 2019 Toyota 4Runner, 2023 Lexus LC500 Convertible, and an inherited from my late father his beloved 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (38k original miles and condition.) I just early retired, so these vehicles will probably be my last.
@@90Z321 wow please tell me you’re going to make some videos. Those cars are really rare and the world needs more quality inspiration like that!
A car or a pickup that is paid off and still in good shape and you can get in and you know its going to start and is reliable even for a trip are worth their weight in gold.
Awesome car! I’ve been friends with Eli since High School. He is the biggest car nut I know. We spent all our time looking at import cars and going to NIRA events back in the day. Thanks for showcasing his passion on your channel! I enjoy your car reviews as well. In depth and fun.
Thank you brother! We had some great times with cars!
This video is really well made. Thank you for your effort.
That is really fantastic of you to say! Thank you!
The old school paved the way to what we drive now....old school was original, stronger, brand defined ...less technical complications... Very easy to work on
Hi Joe, I love the 1991 Toyota Supra & even though these were low in tech by modern standards I love it.
Great Car Joe. You did a Supra job on Eli's Supra Turbo. Just amazing condition. Thanks for showing us this great vehicle.
I love what you did there! You are so very welcome!
Amazing how timeless the overall design vibe is (interior and exterior)
I had an '87 MKIII for two years that had an electrical problem I was never able to figure out. Countless mechanics looked at it. Changed out so many things. One day it ran perfectly, the next it wouldn't run at all. It was the car I learned how to drive manual on though.
Weird! Electrical demons are the worst!
It might be corroded battery terminals. Just get them cleaned with some brake cleaner. That would be nice
Love the Celica and the Supra. Was that Eli lurking by the tree. He probably was watching you to see if you were going to do some burnouts. 😂😂😂
I had to make sure he brought the car back!!
Joe ! Are you doing 5 reviews a day now? Or does it just seem that way? 🤣. Nice car ! Beautiful shape ….love interior
You guys deserve the best Tom!
The name Supra means " above" "to surpass" and "go beyond".... Did they live up to their name? I say "yes indeed". ☮️
You hit the nail on the head
Love it! I had an ‘87. One of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned. Had it 5 years… wish I’d kept it. Great video Joe…brought back some great memories!
Joe is so incredibly knowledgeable and absolutely crushed it as always! He’s a natural and an even better person!
What a car. Still looks and sounds as awesome as I remember them. Thank you Joe and a special thanks to Eli for letting us see his beautiful example.
Thank you for watching!!
Keep up the great work sir!
Would love to see you review the 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX. Another iconic 90s classic!
Yes of course Joe & I will buy this classic car.
I can see you driving this one!
Hey now! Haha
wow you found my Ex's old Supra! 😅 same exact color, accept hers was like a 89 i think, then in 91 she traded it for Mits 3000GT VR4. but was a nice ride, had some fun in that old Supra ☮
Man your ex had a good taste in cars!
Is she still single?
@@JP-cu2gm lolz, no
Man I can feel the compassion for this supra in his facial expression nice to see another supra lover
The sheer build quality and especially the interior cannot be beat. Most comfortable seats ever. No ABS, no TT, no bs. It's a straight up luxury ride. The new one is an uncomfortable cramped sports car with fake vents.
Drive mine multiple times a week in this season. This is IT.
Since I already own a '92, yes, it's a better buy!
You have a keeper on your hands
You learn something new everyday. Today I learned that the word Supra is Latin, meaning to surpass, go beyond.
I love the old school, especially the color and how clean like you said take it on the twisty roads would be a blast. Good old '80s and early '90s
One of my dream cars from back in the day. 😍I never got a Supra but I did own a 5spd manual RWD hatchback Toyota Celica. It was my first car when I got my license at 16 years old.
Few will recall how good the Isuzu cars were, but I had an 85 Impulse that was a pleasure to drive, looked great, and got good mpgs. If you find one, Joe, please show the viewers.
Joe did you know that the "New" Supra is a BMW? 😯 I like when you review and drive your friends, close associates cars especially older ones. Continue to incorporate that more on your channel . I guarantee you will see an increase in subscribers
Giving you a thumbs up Raiti since i dont remember you reviewing older vehicles as much (though not as many cool new ones to be fair) so keep em coming
Haven’t followed you because I didn’t care about the other cars but for this review of our beloved mk3 supras you have a new follower
He’s one hell of a follow and an absolute encyclopedia of automotive knowledge and experience!
Been considering getting a 90's JDM car to have for the warmer months here in MI. Toyota and Honda being at the top of my list. This is definitely a sharp car!
This car means a lot to me bc growing up my mother had a 82 black on black Supra with the digital instrument panel, my father had a 83 blue on blue 5spd. later on in life my dad had a red 92 turbo targa top and finally when i brought my first car it was a blue 89 turbo targa top.
Love this!
The parts added to this car are what we call BPU (basic parts upgrade stage 1). My car is on the heavy end. Pretty much loaded. The Eibachs were a little stiff for me. I went with Tein coilovers.
When I think about mk4 Supra I don’t think about Fast & Furious… I think SUTUTUTU
This looks like the exact Supra I used to have. Same color same year and a Turbo as well. My favorite feature was the pop up headlights. I loved that car and I'm still kicking myself in the foot for selling it. I wish I still have the car now.
I owned an 89 N/A and that convinced me to never buy the low end version of a car again. Of course, now there are great cars that aren't the top car, but the power differential and other issues like the freaking head gasket were disappointing. Still, a lot of fun to drive!
Lovely car!. I did own a 5 speed manual Celica 1986. The first model year for the front wheel drive.
Moms had a 1979 celica supra. Brown in color with the rear window loovers back in 83. And she also had a 1985 supra with the 1jz.
I know somebody that used to have a Cressida. She said it’s the best car she’s ever had. She’s had a bunch of older Camry’s since then
I have driven the 1986 Supra when I was working in a garage back then. It was a souped-up Corolla at that time, but how things have changed between the two since then!
Joe, are you going to hunt down a Honda nsx of the 1990’s to add to your list of retro cars ?
I would love to
Buddy had this Supra in a fiesta red Targa. Badass!
You can keep these old school vehicle reviews coming crew, I absolutely love them!!!
That is so wonderful to hear Gary! Stay tuned man!
I had 3 Mk3 Supra Turbo at one point, best decision was I sold all of them and bought a Mkiv Supra Turbo and never regretted it
It would have been nice Joe if we could have seen the supra without its targa top on. Beautiful supra
Great video Joe.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this one Sonal.
New here from CANADA
Love that Supra the early 90's cars were the best also late 80's
Love to see a Nissan 300ZX also 200SX I owned a 1985 Coupe red with huge 200SX on the doors it was red powered everything sunroof pop up headlights I miss that car the 1991 Supra is way better than the new version today
The one you are talking about right now it would look great with white rims
For some reason the front of the Supra kind of looks a bit like the BMW 850i kind of the same shape I have a 118 scale BMW 850i here and comparing the fronts
I have to check your videos have you done a BMW 850i 90's
Great Video
Thanks for finding up Jay! I totally remember the 200SX! please stay tuned for more!
@@RaitisRides Thank you will do
I have a 92 turbo in that color. It is the most fun I've ever had.
That is so fantastic to hear!
Absolutely beautiful, I'd rather have that than new
91-92 models of the A70 are very rare and most desirable in the 70 Series especially some models came with power sunroof.
I still like the pop up headlights, especially on the Corvettes.
Always loved the shape of this version Supra and I’d love to have a Twin Turbo R 2.5L 1JZ (JZA70-R) or the 3.0 Turbo A.
OMG, this is my dream car since high school time. I'm 57 today and still love this style of Supra Turbo! I think 1992 is the last year for this kind of body style. I personally like this style better than the 2024 models. Thank for sharing this video.
I'll never forget test driving one of these a few years outa highschool I think it was a 90, fastest thing I ever drove. Fell in love instantly they were asking 11 grand and needed a cosigner but my pops wasn't having any of that... He knew better! Lol
We're the same age, cool
Heck yeah brother!
I love it Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
We love sharing it with you Dominick!
Hi! I know you usually review new cars, thats why i subscribed, but I'd love to see you review more of these old school classics on your channel, you're the best to do it. Maybe in the future i can see you do like a early 90s Acura NSX 😃
NSX would be amazing!
What a great review of a classic sports car! More of these type reviews, please!
Love the Churro measurement system. These things move and still look great!
You have great taste!
Most underrated Supra due to mk.4 being too overrated
Let's keep it that way. It keeps the prices low.
Love your car video
Pop Up Headlights Are Awesome
I see these 89-90 supra turbo having blown heads due to poor head gasket. Though the 7m motor is very reliable the head gasket was it's biggest problem.
I had a '90 Supra Turbo.
Do you miss her?
@@RaitisRides Not as much as my 91 300zx TT. I would take another.
@@nsu300zxdidn’t Toyota copy Nissan many times?
Gorgeous car I love everything about it hey Joe please do more cars like this no crappy electric cars,
Wish we can go back to the 90's new cars are just boring
Years ago I had two 89s. One of them was rusted to hell and the other couldn’t shift into reverse. If I had the money and space to restore a car it would be a mkiii Supra.
A friend had one in highschool and honestly I think we didn't know what he was driving around in.
I am glad I kept my 91 with Sun roof and TEMS (sucks they don't sell replacements anymore).
I had a red 91 sunroof as well. That was a great car while I had it!
My favorite car ever. Great video!
Great video! I love these cars. In high school I had an 86.5 mk3 na that had the TEMS setup and LSD as an option. Later I had a blue 82 and a gray 85 mk2 I bought for $200 with a blown motor and swapped in a 6MGE from Japan.
Fantastic video. Lovely car. That being said I always laugh when people gush over the Supra as if it was this super sports car. Even the mark IV was slow compared to cars today. I've seen some people spend a lot of money just to be very disapointed.
What a slick review. Just bought a 1JZ Supra, flicked the Yaris GR Ralley for it...hunting more character. As good as the GR is, I'm a 80s kid.
I love a classic Big Joe, cool episode brother.
There's so much character you get from these cars that you just don't get from the newer ones. Eli has got some character too I suppose. 👀
💀
@@HeyMK3Guy ladies and jelly beans the MVP
I love the old. But i also love my 21 supra. It was instant love of the dynamics and handing at first drive. Too many car guys ignoring them because of the BMW guts, but they're missing out. The handling and power is perfectly balanced!
Thanks for sharing that fantastic ownership experience!
The best Supra to me is the MK3... its my dream car my uncle had one and i absolutely loved it. And i ended up with 2 of those to fix 1 a few years back but cause of personal issues i had to sell it all.... its still the car i really wanna own one day.
Good looking car!
You have great taste!
I used to own a 1983 supra with a 5 speed manual. That was a fun car to drive and I used beat 5.0 foxbody mustangs back in the days
My dad had navy blue supra back in the day. Stick shift.
I miss my mk3.
Still looks good.
So true about that!
37k in 1991 is insane.
Yeah the US dollar was down to the Japanese Yen at the time.
Gawd miss having one of these in my driveway. A70 Supras are just super sexy
I’ve my grand fathers 89 turbo Supra, I love that car
Growing up this was the car I wanted. Very sad what Toyota did with the new Supra. I instead bought convertible flare yellow LC500, very pleased😁
I LOVE the LC500 and wish that it was the next Supra
Mk3 supra was my first car in 07 still have one today 91 1jz sunroof making 600+
I discovered and became a fan of the Supra because of “The Fast and The Furious”. I would LOVE a mk4 and even the new Supra’s look great. This mk3 is nice though. Another great video from Raiti’s Rides. 🤙🏼
Thanks you for letting me share all of this great Supra action with you!
Moral of the story: don't have kids if you want to keep your cars.
PERFECT! 🤩
Where were you with that advice 13 years ago???? 😂
@@HeyMK3Guy sorry for your lost.
What a horrible advice. We live in America, the easiest country in the world to make money. If you just work as hard as you complain you would be a millionaire.
Ive owned 2 MKIV supras and that was 17 years ago. Both were bought under 20k. Insane how much they are worth now. Im a car dealer and see them even on Manheim for 100k. Cheapest ive seen them for is 46k and its right hand drive.
Nice retro ride and in great condition. Maybe pry the silly teenagers exhaust off the back end, but otherwise this was a nice early 90's flashback.
I had a near mint '89 Supra Turbo with a manual I bought in 2001 with 79k miles on it for $5500, which was considered a bunch of money for one at that time. Many of my friends didn't know what it was but their dads were very interested, lol.
This one is missing all the latest and greatest technology that spies on u tho 🤔
I see what you did there!
