You did a fantastic job of explaining the technology to justify the price I can’t wait to see how the EC Tuner tightens up the groups as it’s off to a brilliant start
You should do a comparison between carbon barrels and pencil profile bolt action barrels. Is there a precision difference? Which will take more rounds before loss of precision? Just performance differences in general. As well as secondary differences of weight, ability to accept muzzle devices. Basically what are we gaining or losing for the price increase.
I can't speak on the Carbon barrel, But I have a Premier HMR, and boy does it shoot, first 2 groups out of the rifle and already had a 5 shot 0.5 MOA group at 100 yds.

This rifle intrigues me. Thankyou so much for the exposure. Price is less than I thought. I’m going to be following what you do with this rifle very closely.
A lot of folks dont get that a supp acts like a tuner, because it lengthens the barrel and adds weight on the end. It won't effect exactly the same way, but can definitely tighten a group or expand a group, even throw the POI way off.
SO GLAD you did this review, G! I've got an AI AT-X on Pre-order that I'm building up in 6 Dasher and was going to change to the factory 6.5CM when I wanted to hunt with it. I may just buy one of these as a dedicated hunting rig. Looking forward to the longer range vids and load development. Thanks again!
OK, there's no way I can afford this rifle. That being said, great video showing us some of the "latest, greatest" rifles and I always enjoy these first look at new products. Currently, my Ruger American Predator in 6.5 CM sitting in a Magpul Hunter Stock does pretty well with consistent sub 1/2 MOA groups, and on a good day closer to 1/4 with the EC Tuner Brake. The Springfield Waypoint looks like a better "value" but we're still talking $2K.
This and the Springfield waypoint are the two most exciting factory rifles right now. However, I think the waypoint is a better value and rifle altogether. I wish both were offered in more calibers. Also, why Bergara would you make the 308 a 22-inch barrel? Most people want 20 or less, considering more and more people are using suppressors.
my next one will be a 308 or 6.5 .. i just havent picked yet... I am too busy right now, learning my Lee Turret Classic press.. You always make great videos, you have taught me soo much this past few years. many thanx!

Carbon barrels are so hard to cool down for consistency ! It would be interesting to film this rifle using a thermal camera to truly show how hot the receiver and mussel break get !
Agreed I have Christensen arms rifle with carbon barrel and after 4 shots impact shifts b cause barrel heats up so fast , carbon barrels aren't as good as they trying to make it , heavy profile barrels are much much better than any carbon barrels , more mass on the barrel longer it can take heat , same with my AR-15 with carbon barrel from proof research , they heat up fast and than you see strings

Really cool rifle... I've got a 6ARC AR15 that I went all out when I built it and used a 20 inch Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel (I've got a 6.5 Grendel with one also) and I have a Springfield 2020 Waypoint in 6.5 Creedmoor that has a 22 inch BSF carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I've noticed it takes a pretty good bit of heat with any of them before the groups start opening up and they don't open up by much. I'm going to be picking up one of these if for nothing else to just add another carbon fiber wrapped barrel maker to the collection because I really like the lightweight rifles... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Danial Have you considered the Fierce Rival? I have a 14” Proof barrel in my 6mm ARC build (APF AR15) and a Waypoint in 6.5 PRC. I was thinking 7MM PRC in Fierce or Proof R. What do you think.
I had the exact same issue just yesterday with my Bergara HMR also in 6.5 Creedmoor , I have it in an MDT LSS gen 1 with a skeleton stock but with no bag rider and after taking a bit more time concentrating on my placement on the rear bag my groups went from about .5 - .6 MOA to just over .4
Trying to grasp the improvements this barrel gives you....Pros: A properly wrapped carbon barrel adds rigidity to the barrel while at the same time you get a lighter-weight barrel. Cons: a carbon wrapped barrel traps more heat........So here we have a barrel wrapped in a stainless mesh along with a resin that is then wrapped in carbon fiber. the two things that come to mind to me are, 1- you are still trapping the heat with the carbon fiber wrap, so you are pushing the heat forward AND backward, the heat doesn't know its supposed to travel only one direction, so you are pushing more heat to your chamber then also, yes? 2- How much rigidity are you really gaining if you are using a mesh? Can you wrap the carbon to the mesh as tightly as a naked barrel? I would think no you can't, plus the mesh itself even if it is wrapped as tightly would have to have more flex, yes? And I'm sure there is a reason but stainless doesn't dissipate heat that well compared to other materials, like say aluminum....I can see the need to use stainless to match the expanding and contracting of the barrel based on heat. I'm sure these guys are a lot smarter than me, just the things I was thinking about......Claims I've seen by other carbon barrel companies in regards to dissipating heat was one company says they use a porous resin that allows the heat to escape, and another company simply drills ports into the carbon fiber wrap.
I’ve heard almost every fifth shot in a group is a flyer from the carbon fiber. Tell me what rifle should I go for then? Sako S20 Precision or Bergara Ridgeback?
I don’t know if you still see these comments but I’ve been looking at the Bergara premier mg literally in 7 prc vs Fierce mountain rifle in 7 prc and was wondering your opinion on the comparison.

Just got a Bergara Wilderness Ridge in 6.5PRC and put a Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 4.5x27x50 on top of it as you did a review and recommendation of this scope. Great review, covered all the details as always!
Hello from the 🇬🇧 that looks a perfect Rifle for me . The only problem is we always get ripped off here in the UK so the Rifle will be around 5 grand. And I can see a series problem getting hold of a new barrel when I burn it out .
As usual, thank you for exposing us to some really cool new items. I'm sure my wife doesn't share the same sentiment after viewing the credit card charges, however. I think I'm going to go with one of these Bergara rifles soon. I've been really involved with AR's and want something different (though sub 1/4 moa with a gasser never gets old). Hopefully they make it in something like 7-08.
Great review on the rifle. I am using the Bergara B-14hmr in 6.5 creedmoor. I have got the rifle beded and a very happy with the result. Will you recommend bedding of this new Bergara in the review ?
Good video man i do have a bergara hmr in 308 bull barrel shoots 0.1 mil 3 shots at 100 meters so bergara rifles are in another level if you got the money buy now because it will get more expencive later and hard to find
Great video, much appreciated. Whats the weight of the barreled action only? 6.8 pounds may be light weight considered the Stock but maybe it can be made even lighter.
Hope they add some more “affordable” (sub $2000, would LOVE sub $1500) carbon barrel offerings to their more traditional hunting rifle lineups. Would be nice to see something in the b-14 or even premier series to give the Christensen Ridgeline and Springfield waypoint a run for their money. $3000 is not competitive and seems ridiculous frankly and the caliber selection is lackluster, hopefully this leads to more variety though.
uh, carbon fiber does not hold the heat in contrary to what you said, its usually the resin that causes that issue and the type of interface between that and the metal barrel.
Fantastic video' fantastic rifle I would buy one today if it was made in the 6mm ARC. What a beauty!!!!!!!!!!! I have to say your one smart dude thanks for the info. I have the Bergara B14R one of your videos got me to buy couldn't be happier with it
I would have liked this video to include a real ring out for that barrel technology. Is it really a competitive technology to other composite designs and if so, how much improvement. Technology does give performance progress. Is this a breakthrough? I think it would be prudent to use a rifle Ransom rest and shoot 20 round strings quickly to measure its stability and slower to show if its ability to dissipate heat is better or not. I do not have much opinion on whose barrels to compare against but, definitely good ones. Maybe another video on this. Maybe there is already one out there. Hmmmm. Great product and video though.
So let me open with: I would do no barrel tuning or load development with the Bergara until the barrel had approximately 150 rounds through it. My experience with the last three Bergara's (one my own) is that they will continue to tighten up to the 150 number then they seem to stabilize. This has been with the fundamental break in of 1 shot clean, 1 shot clean for a cycle of five shots then no to 3 shots etc., etc. Now on to my second thought: I went to the Bergara site and followed up with your statements regarding the CURE barrel technology. I am a little perplexed at the thought of adding stainless steel mesh/strand as a heat dissipater. I see two negative effects in this: 1: Stainless, your engineering background should relate to this, is a very poor conductor of heat (thermal conductivity) 2: stainless is heavy per cubic inch compared to other possible metal applications. I wonder what the weight of there barrels are compared to other carbon wrapped barrels. Your thoughts?
The stainless mesh would be for even heat dispersion, which in turn helps cool the barrel over a larger surface. Think big picture, frying pan with the flame in just one area. Convential pans will develop more heat under one area. Stainless disperses.
@@mikeborgstr5188 A high thermal conductivity material can transport heat more quickly and efficiently than a material with low thermal conductivity. Stainless steel exhibits a low thermal conductivity of 15 w/(mk).
@@johnseptien3138 Plus, is the stainless core right up against the stainless barrel core as it shows in the diagram? If this is the case why not just have a thicker barrel core as that would transfer the heat towards the muzzle much better that a mesh. Your thoughts?
24 inch in 308 or 6.5 is fine but I prefer 26 inch barrel in 300 win mag or 6.5 prc. Heck, u can buy a Christian ridge line for under 2000. Also, they have a Moa guarantee, so why buy the bergara?

Hopefully they make it in something like 7-08.
It comes in 4 calibers. 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC which is a magnum, 308, and 300 win mag.
@@PatriotPaulUSA I found one in 7-08 but it was the Ridge model. Bergara marketing was smart to let Gavin test a rifle.
I would love to see a direct comparison to the christensen arms mpr!!!
Did it come with the rail?
is there any way to get a Bergara MGLite 6.5 PRC with a CURE Carbon barrel in 24 inches... i'd really love one in 24inch
Can we get a Bergara MGLittle 7mm PRC 16’’‼️
Great review on the rifle. I am using the Bergara B-14hmr in 6.5 creedmoor. I have got the rifle beded and a very happy with the result. Will you recommend bedding of this new Bergara in the review ?
Looks great! Bet with the magnums it will be jumpy.
5shot group? 10 shot group?
Nice rifle. You indicated you put a bag rider on the stock. What brand was that. I would like to try one. Thanks
Christensen Arms MPR or this?
I really hope they put the core barrel on a nice hunting rifle. I’m looking for a lightweight hunting rifle.
Does the light weight of the rifle more sensible to recoil?
So it's a ruger rpr an Savage with a little Thompson center combination 🤔
Just checked their website and saw the new Premier Divide. Pretty interesting.
Already got a premiere series in 6.5prc
It all sounds great. Just wondering with that light rifle weight how stout the felt recoil would be with a 300 Win Mag??
uh, carbon fiber does not hold the heat in contrary to what you said, its usually the resin that causes that issue and the type of interface between that and the metal barrel.
Great job
Nice rifle. What do you think about polymer case??
Now if we can just see this in 7PRC
How stiff do you think the barrel is? How much of a point of aim shift did you notice with your suppressor on vs it being off.
Hey Gavin, what is a safe temp to to stay in for my barrel heat?
That thing is beautiful
How do those kinds of barrels age. In 5 years are they coming apart .
When will this gun hit the market for purchase?
Do you feel this rifle will hold its tight groups for 20+ shota ? F-Class type shooting
Anyone have any idea what recoil is like on the 300 win mag without muzzle break? Also, are there sling attachments?
24 inch in 308 or 6.5 is fine but I prefer 26 inch barrel in 300 win mag or 6.5 prc. Heck, u can buy a Christian ridge line for under 2000. Also, they have a Moa guarantee, so why buy the bergara?
Because he can i wouldn't i have rifles dating back to 1970s what do I shoot mainly ar15 300 legend and 6 5 grendel and ar47 all psa freedoms then remember s&w compass for 199.00 some years back i bought 5 even though i have a Weatherby mark5 deluxe and ruger m77 and Winchester m70s all are under 1moa including all of my tc compasses in 243win 308win 30/06 270win and 7mm rem mag they all shoot just as well as my 6000.00 Weatherby custom deluxe 7mm whby mag from 1973 a work of art my fll offered me 3k for it the person selling it tried to back out of the sale for 6 weeks it was fired 3 rounds only ever and was inherited from grandfather to grandson that had a domestic charge all weapons were court ordered fll sales sadly not knowing what they had and a buy now mistake i got it for 799.00 plus 30.00sh its 99 percent mint condition 5 years ago i only shoot my reloads with Weatherbys 1974 load data from Weatherby that my long gone friend got from Roy Weatherby himself in the early 1970s its my holy grail and my 7mm rem mag tc compass shoots just as well but with 1/3 of the recoil and 1/3 of the weight as my rifle's from the 70s 80s and 90s are heavier but works of art and craftsmanship that this is not seen in today's weapons sadly. I'm so very sorry for this long post . In ending Frank Asuna my friend that was a friend of Roy Weatherby himself along with Roy got me into reloading at 17 years old and for 45 years and hundreds of weapons later I still remember that day in South Gate California 1977 Frank Roy and a young kid in fascination of the gun store never knowing who Roy was and the friendship they shared . A time in history long gone. Remember for someday we will be gone for this i paid it forward by settling up my brothers boys with two full reloading press and dies in 5 calibers now they have the passion Roy and Frank shared with me. Have a fantastic new year and live your passion.
@@davidycedo1606 Nice , My first rifle was a 300 Weatherby Magnum MarkV german made. Well My dad bought it and I used it to learn deer hunting at 18. It was/is a beautiful gun. Way too much for deer tho I learned right away.
@@PatriotPaulUSA i still have my 1984 custom order model 70 rh 24 inch that the owner of Bowers wholesales of LA took the time and called Winchester arms i was told no extra charge to cut one in 300 whby mag now don't get me wrong $489.00 was a lot in 1984 i had it in 21 day or so .
@@davidycedo1606 that’s a lot of words without any punctuation!
Nice vid Gavin, the only concern I have is like stated is the cost. Even with a drop in price it will still have some problems competing with the Waypoint and the less expensive version of the Fierce Rival
gavin ! what you think the recoil would be like with the MGlite in 300 win mag?
How Much Ammo is in
Magazine ?
Great Video Thanks.
This gun seems very nice . Was wondering who made one similar in price but maybe a little better to compare
Fierce makes one called the Mountain Reaper. Looks badass.
Cost???
I am old but prices have gone crazy on guns these days.
Left hand option?
Can I run a suppressor on this gun ???
Will they be offered left handed?
It will probably shoot better once you get some more rounds down the barrel and gets some fouling in the barrel. Price is a little steep, but I'm more into a traditional looking hunting rifle. Great review as always. Love your shop and range setup.
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲
