It’s an amazing button box! I’m loving mine! Only other stick I’m looking to try after falling in love with these inputs is the cross up. Wonder if it’ll be best or bother worlds or jack of all trades, master of none.
@@OfficeArcade Just asking regarding SOCD last win vs SOCD neutral vs SOCD priority..... What happens if you play SFV with charge players like Guile I want to know what will happen if I press back +down and then press forward +punch? Do you get sonic boom
Another solid video and I love your super down to earth approach and vibes. It was great seeing more of the Mpress since I only went over a couple other videos yesterday and I'm still sold on both this and the SB Micro. One thing I think will be interesting with using these for shmups specifically is introducing some of the movement responsibility to my right hand but since the right fingers usually only handle firing as triggering hyper modes (when relevant), I don't imagine it'll be too jarring an experience. While I don't play fighting games, it's easy to see how prominent this will become going forward. With shmups, I think arcade sticks will always claim the main spot but yeah, I'm super stoked to see what I can explore with these regardless. Thanks for the upload!!
Yeah I think you can’t go wrong with either of these for shmups and they both play a different enough role in my collection of sticks that they both get a good amount of use. The mpress is my primary, but the snackbox has been a great secondary. And I’ve all but rolled off of traditional joysticks outside of my arcade1ups.
@@OfficeArcade It's interesting because I'm only on Switch and for a long time I just resorted to the pro controllers. I think I'll always have a place for arcade stick playing but as for the sticks on pro controllers, I've really come to prefer dpad. Depending on how accustomed I get to the micro and Mpress, I could easily see this taking over more than anything else. Eager to scope more of your videos and I appreciate you responding to my comments!
Buttons feel great. They are keyboard based switches so feel completely different from Sanwa. Execution on this is far more consistent for me than on any of my other fight sticks.
Yeah still love mine. I waffle between it and the snackbox but it’s still going to be my primary going into sf6. There’s a cool new micro controller that appeared on Etsy that has me pretty tempted.
I ended up ordering a SB Micro because these were all sold out. I may pick one up in the future once they're available again. My only concern is I've been playing fighting games on a stick for about 30 years. Breaking down that muscle memory is going to be rough. Btw, did you see that Victrix is selling their own button box too?
I hadn't seen it! Very cool! I don't like that they didn't go with full size buttons though. For that alone, the MPress is the clear winner at the moment. As soon as Victrix offers an all button with full size buttons, I'm in! The snackbox is dope, the buttons were just too small for me and the build quality isn't quite as good as the mpress and victrix because of the tiny form factor. But it is hands down the best portable stick out there. So you'll be able to learn on it just fine and bring it with you wherever you go super easily. And if you end up liking it (like I did), you can fork out for one of the pricier alternatives!
Im confused, did you not get the SOCD option on yours? I saw animeilluminati's video, and he switched on a mode that let him hold back and then input forward to get a charge move.
Yeah no cheat button on mine. And I got the brooks board that is compatible. With all devices, not just the latest. Slightly pricier option because my snackbox was no good for all the Xbox one games running at combobreaker.
Hey bro I just got my mpress evo same as you have I wanted to know how do you update the firmware on the Brook board on it ?? I tried updating and it would not allow me to ??
I'm super confused what you mean by back getting priority over forward. With socd cleaning shouldn't they both cancel each other out and put you back to neutral? How would the hardware know which side you're on to choose the correct direction to send if it is indeed sending one?
Depends on what SOCD you are using. Last input has been approved by major tournaments so I’ve been messing with that. Some use first input. Some make back and forward neutral. For some reason up always seems to have priority over down. Going to do a breakdown of different SOCD in near future on the crossup since you can toggle between the different kinds easily. And priority gets even crazier on dual analog with controllers or the crossup.
Love the Mpress concept , no wires super clean. Just a lever player was excited to see an Mpress lever version, however I didmt like how far the lever is spaced from the buttons . Going to contact them to see if that can be adjusted , but with the pcb I dont think it will be
@@OfficeArcade thanks for the reply and the content!!! Probably the only one who would love this with a detachable ex grove joystick. Wish there was portable fightstick this thin with a lever.
@@imohbalu it has last SOCD. Meaning if you hold left, then hold right, it’ll register the last button pressed. Which is the right button. Mpress also has the option to switch socd to not have last win socd.
The guy working the table for Paradise arcade ship said you can swap switches and button caps. Always worth double checking if that’s important to you! But as far as I’m aware, you can.
I don’t think this one is programmable so probably not great. But the hitbox cross up might be a good option for you. Has custom button mapping options for PC.
Nice Review! I ordered the CEO Edition Mpress the other day and I'm looking forward to getting it.
