There are so many different issues targeted in this tutorial. It is fantastic, and you know how to explain it really well to the fundamentals so we can learn to use them in totally different situations.
What you don’t know about geometry nodes, ain’t worth knowing 😂 you are a total whizz and I am loving these tutorials. I am a complete beginner and you’re really easy to watch. So much information you’re providing, you need more subs because your content is awesome. Thanks so much!
By the way, for those using 3.4+, since the Transfer Attributes node doesn't exist, you need to replace it with this following arrangement: First, get a sample index {I'm going to refer to it as SI} node, make sure the dropdowns are set to Vector and Point respectively, Next, plug the geometry from the resample curve [the one that has it's count set to 1] into the Geometry socket on the SI node, Followed by a "Position" node plugged into the field labelled Vector on the SI node, (a field is a diamond-shaped socket), which replaces the "Attribute" field on the transfer node, Finally, plug an "Index" node into the matching field on the SI node.
Been making my neon as individually placed vertices with a spline to get the placement of the pieces just right. I can’t wait to see how you get the look procedurally :) *Finished the video, was definitely worth the watch.
Awesome! Not sure what a doozy is but certain this was anything but one :). Just an idea: you might want to add an option to round off sharp corners in the text... I'm guessing that the Fillet Curve node would do that but it would need to be limited to sharp angles so it doesn't affect the smoother curves.
For the stands there is now a much easier way to do so (3.1) a node called Curve to points, which work like resampling, but doesn't change the curve shape Edit(last) To make the droopy group works you need to use a "set spline type node" first, set to bezier, right before the group
You're getting to be one of the best at clear instruction for geo nodes. Really well done! When you resample around 1:45, how does Blender know how to add control points on the curve around the shapes of the letters after those segments are gone (having made it noncyclic?)
This is awesome and super useful, but I have one question. Is it somehow possible to turn those Lines into a single Line/curve? As Neon lights mostly are.
Great Tutorial. There seems to be a problem in GN 3.4 since Transfer Attribute is deprecated and has been removed (from 14:00 in this video). Any hints on how to get around?
@@JohnnyMatthews could we possibly get a quick explanation before that? I'm trying to finish this up lol ... tysm for all that you do tho, appreciate you!
There is a new built in tool kinda like Asset Snapshot in the N panel of the asset browser. There is a little down arrow in the preview panel. If you click it, it will render the active object and set it as the selected asset's image. So the script may not be needed much longer.
@@JohnnyMatthews Oh! Yes. I know about it already. But your add-on is better because it allows render the preview from the desired angle as well as in eevee and cycles. So I mostly prefer to use your add-on.
It would be nice if the set spline cyclic node had an option that when you turn off cyclic, you could also make it duplicate the first point as a new last point, so it doesn't delete that last segment. People are running into limitations with this all the time.
Hopefully someone can help. I've finished the tutorial and have my sign looking great. But i ran into a problem on the way. I created my (Stand) and followed all of the steps. When i connect the (Instance on Points) node to the (join geometry) node my stands become massive and flip vertically. 2nd question i had is if you could just easily pop in a logo of any kind rather than just using what's available under primitive curve? Can i import an SVG i created in illustrator and use it?

I’m so glad it was helpful!

This is wonderful I have been wanting to do this for a building in a couple projects, thank you for the great tutorial
Extremally well explained, I understood the reason behind every chosen node. Thanks for the tutorial!
You're very welcome!
You made something awesome! Literally.
Thank you! 😊

Awesome! Your content is gold! thanks for your kindness on explaining this neon sign task for us. God bless you, Johnny.
My pleasure! I hope you make something awesome with it!
Good job man
Thanks so much!
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Thanks a lot for this tutorial.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Very helpful and excellent presentation.

Yet another mind-blowing tut! :)
Aww thanks!

I added it before the set curve cyclic node, so it is resampling the whole curve first.
@@JohnnyMatthews ahhh right. Makes sense thanks
Wow another awesome tutorial! Thanks! 👍

Ohh soo cool! Imma try this
You should!

Great teaching! Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
😊 thanks
Fantástico!! Muuuito obrigado. Foi de grande ajuda.
So glad to help!
Thanksss a lott
Most welcome
Além de incrível, muito bem explicado. Parabéns,
obrigado por assistir e dizer olá!

I need to do a video on that
That would be great. I tried in vain to find an alternative but did not succeed with my limited Know-how on GN

Awesome Tutorial Johnny. Would there be an update to your asset snapshot add-on for geometry nodes as assets?

well you are in luck, there is a node in development called 'keep shape' it make it into 3.2. it does exactly what you asked for.
@@JohnnyMatthews Sounds good to me, thanks for the info
@@_evildoer You can do this currently with some node setup. I can send u a screenshot of the node setup for a circle
Now this is usefull

hi there can we get this project file?
i can't find the domain size....
Brooo
The link for the "Catenary Curve Node" is getting a "404 This is not the page you are looking for".
Oh I renamed some files. Check the link now
