I saw a brief glimpse of a pastra de nata/Portuguese custard tart from Lidl. Glorious, especially when warmed slightly prior to consumption. Hardcastle takes on a different feeling in Winter when you are the only boat going through. It is a very safe tunnel compared to some others as all passage is monitored. If you broke down in Braunston tunnel in winter it could be days before another boat found you.😱😱😱
Hi guys, nice to watch this, I was hoping to see the ghost!!! But not this time 🤣 Love the videos, your doing some great work. Keep it up, I am certainly going to keep watching, regards Reni
Thanks for showing you trip through. This would have been a great 'slow TV' moment, 40 minutes video going through the tunnel... maybe a new edit for next time. ?
If you think Harecastle is tight, check out Standedge on the Huddersfield Narrow. Longest and highest tunnel on the system, 90-100 minutes to get through and an absolute experience.
I know! The video wasn’t long enough to share them! We are constantly surprised at the little nuggets of history all along the canals always something new to read and learn for us 😎
Looks like you have enough food to feed an army ! You certainly won’t starve. Good job managing the tunnel. Am I right in thinking that the water is that rusty colour because of the iron in the canal water? Till next time…….Chris x
So you guys and Annabelle survived the Harecastle tunnel .I would think being # 3 of four boats when you finally emerge it must feel like toothpaste being extruded from the tube ,you seem to have enjoyed it though and then you stocked up at Lildls too as a bonus All in all a very nice blog ,loved it . Please dont take the following as criticism just look on it as my tiny bit to help you improve your vlogs even more .1. during parts of this vlog the sound was very very nuffled and uninteligible particularly in the tunnel ,possibly a poor connection somewhere on the audio side .2. Please slow up your panning a little. That's it hope you dont mind ....another beer on the way as compensation. Happy cruising lots of sunshine and not too hot stay safe . Cheers Ralph XX

The tunnel was one of the highlights of our holiday.
Your hat makes me smile.
You two are certainly becoming very polished at narrow boating, loved the editing too. Very stylish head wear again Mel!
Thanks Frank! We are having a grand time👍🏻☀️ appreciate it so much!
Intro-well done 😉. Videography well done😉. Enjoy hearing your banter with walkers & other boaters…😉. Will be watching as you continue.
Definitely think it's time to see you try driving and Paul doing some of those locks 🤣
Ya🙌🏻 in truth though - driving is not my vibe! I’m bad with cars and pretty shocking with the boat too😂😣🤷🏼♀️

Practice makes perfect!
Or something.
@@t1n4444 😂 I think with me it’s the “or something!”

That one was spooky. I was waiting for the woman with no head, to pop up. Thanks I won't sleep tonight, ha ha.
😂😂 I’m glad she didn’t I would’ve learned to walk on water and ran outta there!

😂 Lucky we didn’t see her! Thanks so much Reni, we’ll certainly keep them coming!
Laughed out loud when you said you wouldn't be arguing with Paul while in that ghostly tunnel 🤣🤣 So glad you are having such a good cruise!
😂 you know, just incase!! Lol thanks so much Jill!
I like how that tunnel, just dips a bit in the center.
Brilliant vlog did this tunnel last month so good to see again xx
That was a great video guys , I’ve seen other videos on the hard castle tunnel , but can honestly say yours is the best so far 👏👏😘 Pauline
Wow! Thanks so much Pauline what a compliment🙏🏻 so glad you enjoyed it! Xx
Caring about your life, lol, enjoyed watching from lreland .
😂thanks Claire!
Great vlog, you think this is low and narrow, wait until you try the Standedge Tunnel, hard hats are worn for this one!!
Oh no! I’ll have to work on my bravery I thought this was plenty low😣
Save yourself doing some house work Paul keep going through the tunnel and buy a saw lol keep them coming loving the vlogs
😳😳
Don't know if I could actually do that trip.
The keepers cottage at the tunnel is actually the air vents for the tunnel disguised
Perhaps you’re thinking of the stone building around the actual tunnel? The tunnel keepers house was the white building I pointed to✌🏻
Thanks for showing you trip through.

Ok wow! We’ll pop that on our list of trips to include 👌🏻 although that does seem like a hell of a long time!😣😳
Great vlog, love all the stories that have proliferated around the tunnel, keep having fun and thanks for sharing your journey :)

Hi Chris, yeah, no starving here! I need to get better at judging how much I can carry😂 and yes rust👍🏻✌🏻 thanks so much see you soon!
Funny how they use metric and imperial on one sign (2:52)
Older people only use Imperial and boaters tend toward the post middle age.
