These Karavan 5x10s are a good value. Well made and pulls nicely. The only thing I did not like about it is the jack being positioned too far forward to allow dropping the tail gate on my pickup. I changed it out with a bolt-on jack. If you buy one from Home Depot, make sure there is no damage from shipping. When I bought mine, 5 out of 6 trailers on the lot had shipping damage, bent jacks, smashed lights, etc. Would buy again.
I've got a brand new one in my garage. 5.5x10. 6years old. Never used. Paid $1300.00. I see the same one now is $2000.00. It's been a fun hobby. Put a bunch of things on it. 2 spare tires, tool box, winch. 6 flood lights. Cut the tailgate gate off. Built a custom tailgate. 2 sets of ramps. Etc. Just a toy. Thought one day I might get a golf cart. The tubular upper is the way to go. It separates the ones sold at lowes or home depot. Its just a stronger trailer. Got mine at Golden gate trailer in concord NC. The price of everything is going up. People spend 5 to 10000 on a golf cart then buy the cheapest trailer they can find with those tiny tires with no spare tire. The sun just eats those tires alive.
There is a few things that concerns me the middle of the gate doesn’t have any metal rod or Angel iron support allowing the gate mess to bare the weight of your or your vehicles repeatedly. This could cause damage to the gate mesh. The second concern is the plastic caps at the end of the poles and tubing falling out. The last thing is the latch it’s got many moving parts that could fail.
I cut mine off the day I bought it. Picked up a nice set of ramps. Made a real nice looking wooden tailgate. I wanted a custom look. Getting rid of the tailgate reduced the weight a bunch. It's now a 2x6 board that I put some nice scroll work into it. Then varnished it. Looks sharp 👌put a 4500lb warn winch on it. The 2 full size spare tires I put on it with covers really separates the trailer from the others. Just another hobby.
I noticed in this range nothing comes with tie down points. I don't disagree though! I got a really good deal when I bought it, now with inflation it is a bit pricey.
My complaint would be the tail gate could use more support so it won’t start bending quickly, floor boards, and no tie downs other than that really nice trailer
The only problem I have with mine is the jack stabs is too close to the ball. My tailgate hits the stand. I move it back approximately 6inches, know have no problem hiting my tailgate
You can get Karavan trailers from Tractor Supply, too. The Gen 2 Carryon trailers from Tractor Supply and Lowe’s are also pretty good. My 5’ X 10’ was about 1,200-1,400 bucks, but was a first generation. Quality isn’t quite as nice and the new gens, but I’m quite happy with it. It has a V-tongue as well. The 5’ X 8’ does not have the V-tongue.
I just brought this trailer in a 5x8. I was going to install the same type of d rings until I noticed the rails have 1/2 inch holes along the sides. I ended up buying hd eye bolts and installed along the side rails. If you look closely theres caps to pop off to install them.
I just bought the 6 x 12 model and thought about drilling holes through the until I noticed those capped off holes and thought they would. Thanks for the confirmation.
With mine from HD, they didn’t bother to paint or protect in any way, the insides of the frame- which has many openings to the weather. This required a person to spray lube inside all of the surfaces. Secondly, the trailer bounces on the road quite a bit. Anybody install a shock kit on these and if so, which one and how did it go?
Thanks for the review! I am now looking at this trailer at my local HD. Where do you live? I live in upstate NY where we Heavily salt our road in the winter for the snow. how long have you had this trailer? how is rust? looks like a decent trailer
Hi there, happy the review helped. I am near West Point NY we get a fair amount of snow and salted roads. The only slight rusting I am noticing is on the screws that hold the tension latches in. I'm not using it a lot in the winter, but it is stored outside uncovered. Home Depot and Sam's Club carry Karavans if that helps. I have had this for just over a year I think. I posted the video not long after I bought it.
I’m looking to buy this as my first trailer for my atv and dirt bike I live in Buffalo NY, I see your in NY as well how hard is it to register and get plates for it ? Did they do it right at the store or do I have to go to the dmv before hand ?
I would not consider a trailer with a plastic or fiberglass fenders… Nope… They will not hold up over time. Just look at all the older bolt trailers that use those type of fenders… cracked, and destroyed.
@@a_landstander Just saw this trailer today at Sam's in Anderson SC, wanting $2,250 for it though! And it's still on their website, so I'm guessing whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about.
Tractor Supply carries the Karavan trailers like this with some upgrades...Just bought one.

Good point on the jack and tailgate. I have to remember to make sure it's out of the way before dropping the gate.
Same issue with Jack. I can’t open my Jeep hatch without it hitting.
Buy a longer hitch shank. Problem solved.

I agree the tail gate could use more reinforcements. I have bent the mesh due to lack of support. No issues to date with the end caps or latches

How did you mount the spares if you don’t mind me asking ?
I have the 6x12 and love it. I like your tie downs. I treated all the wood with diesel and oil mix. Will last forever
Thanks for the review. You have a new sub!
it would of been nice to actually show how the rails went down fully and with the extra pin option.
Sam’s Club carries the 6x10 model that is gray. Goes for $1,700. Also they don’t have the huge gaps between the floor boards.
In what state? I checked about every local store online in California shows none in stock will have to ask in store.
@@christianmarin2766 …..I’m in Ohio, bit of a drive lol.
I have one of these exact trailers in a 5 by 8. I love it.
They probably saved one board, by having those gaps!
That’s probably about 150 bucks, with today’s lumber prices!
😂😂🤣🤣
Actually got one of these at tractor supply.
Paying that much for a trailer should come with tie down points! That’s my only complaint!
I noticed in this range nothing comes with tie down points. I don't disagree though! I got a really good deal when I bought it, now with inflation it is a bit pricey.
It is $1948 now. It is hard to swallow the sudden $300-400 price hike.
There are not worth the the $400 more at $1400 what they was a year ago was not bad. But not worth the $1900
2,500 now
$2199 in Tennessee
I just got a 6 1/2 X 14 Carson trailer what do you think about those

I've not seen any in New York

Can u put 15 in tires on this trailer
If you'd bought the 6x10 from B&B you could have hauled 3500 lbs and it'd still be like new un 20 years.
What’s b&b im in Texas

HOME DEPOT , LOWE'S , * SOME OF TRACTOR SUPPLY ARE JUNK TRAILERS ! .
PLASTIC FENDER ARE JUNK ! .
A year later....How do you like the trailer now?

Terrific looking trailer! Cheap crappy trailers - nope!
Perhaps the gaps in the wood is to facilitate water drainage.
It does help, but I think they could have still done a better job on the deck. Thanks for the comment!

At tractor supply steel angle iron trailers is more like it.
Is there a mesh bottom under the boards?
No

Mine are still in perfect shape. Just depends on how you treat your stuff.
The most cosmetic part of the trailer is what your worried about? I need my trailer to work not win a beauty contest 😂
But plastic fenders???? Why??? Everything else is steel and good quality but let's skimp on the fenders. Ok. I passed.
Steel fenders rust out, plastic dosent
@@stevenmiddagh6265, no shit, Sherlock. But plastic breaks and cracks. But thanks for the tip. 🙄
What trailer jack are using
The Jack is one the that came with the trailer.
Well now I want one and they aren’t stocked anywhere!
Check Sams Club. Just picked one up today! Mine had 3 in stock.
@@bwhite757 Sam's Club told me today that they actually no longer carry trailers any more at any of their locations.

5x10 caravan is 2500 in my area. SMH

Nice video. Thank you, I just bought a 5x8 version. Did yours come with the Jack? Also any ideas for a lock on one of the tires?
Mine came with the jack. Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight should have a jackwheel that is compatible.
Just get a 4-ft chain and a padlock and lock your wheel to the rail of the trailer and you should be good.
I have the exact same trailer but can’t find spare lights for it

Go to their web sight they have all the parts you need to replace them and tires to
Great video!
Where did u get the coupon for 10% off?
Try and sign-up with for home depot account with a new email address.
Do you know where it was made?
Fox Lake Wisconsin is where their manufacturing facility is located.
Can't you load the pallet from the back?
Hes talking about if u want 2 pallets. You couldnt load 2 without dropping sides. Even with one you would want the weight furth forward.
Go to home depot or Lowes and watch in loading area. You'll see how often side loading with a forklift is prefferred.
You can get the exact same trailer at tractor supply
