The Delaney Twins: Progress Report

- An update on Abby and Erin Delaney, who were born conjoined and separated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
After a prenatal diagnosis, the Delaney twins were born in July 2016 at CHOP's delivery unit for babies with birth defects. At 11 months of age, they were separated during a long and complex surgery.
In all, they spent 485 days in the hospital. Now more than 2, they are home and making amazing strides in their growth and development.
The team at CHOP was led by Greg Heuer, MD, PhD, a pediatric neurosurgeon, and Jesse Taylor, MD, a pediatric plastic surgeon.
When the girls are 3-5 years of age, the surgeons will bring them back to the operating room for skull reconstruction and additional plastic surgery.

The parents are so supportive and hardworking. They have spent a lot of time on their kids and really pulled through a lot of difficulty.
These fabulous parents must have spent so much money on their two little girls. Therapy isn't cheap, but at least the twins are recovering. I wiah there was a charity program for this family and other's families that are going through this same thing. ❤

I think CHOP will probably have contributed to the cost of aftercare as part of the initial cost, plus with these kinds of cases, often insurance companies cover the basics and often times sponsors are found to help cover the rest of the costs

What wonderful doctors and nursing staff...but you know what made the difference for the girls is parents that will go the distance. God bless the two of you as you have blessed your wee girls.

Wonderful news. I agree doing that operation when they were so young has really helped their recovery and I pray they lead happy healthy independent lives. :) They look like mom. So sweet.
