All 4 Quake games released so far were different from each other aside from the fact that they are a fantasy/scifi FPS. when people say "Its not Quake" i always ask "what IS quake?"
"I'm probably not the only one who would rather have a Quake single player reboot". No, no, you are not. I would give my grandma for a reboot of the first Quake. Don't care about the multiplayer *at all*, never have. Let me at some Shamblers, tho. Ceterum, the people referring to Q3A as "the" Quake as if it was the only one worth mentioning are starting to get on my nuts. Reboot of the first Quake would be amazing, but I doubt it will ever happen. I never cared about the multiplayer either, but the single player was amazing. The later levels are brutal and they have a very surreal architecture. I doubt any other game ever came close to that sort of atmosphere or feeling again.
Radio Free Bavaristan Well at least they havent forgotten totally about Quake 1, there is an IGN video showing Champions customizeable options and it was really cool because Ranger could have a Shambler head model. I do wish they eventually make another singleplayer game though

Its so they don't have to give a cut of the profits to Steam. There is not one reason to do it that adds value for the customer, its just standard praxis of publisher greed.
XCOM 2 was well-optimized enough to get the job done, though. The issue is that they targeted 30 FPS, not 60; this of course stirred the elitist hive quickly. (since then, it's been patched so that the automatic settings target 40, but it's not perfect) For its framerate target, the game scales quite well across hardware. It's also fairly CPU intensive, as my poor Pentium E6600 learned with the three minute loading times.
hey dude, you need to try quake champions another time, because you'll love it! netcode is improved and there are new gamemodes and maps, and it's also balanced (I think) Maybe the problem is that the game is not very well optimized for mid/low range computers..

Hey just so you know, they announced that the hitreg is currently poor because they have to collect a lot of data from the servers compared to what they normally would. So in essence, on release the hitreg probably wont be as bad even if not changed.
The game is still changing quite a bit with each new update, so perhaps it's too early for a review. When it enters Beta state, a review would make more sense.
Indeed, and they produced a playable build within 4 months of starting the project, even though they are a small team because of the game being free. There already are a handful of complete maps, some player models, and most weapon models are done. After playing Quake Champions I went back to UT4 and enjoyed it more, but then again I'm a UT guy, so I might not be completely unbiased.
Quake Live is the better game by a longshot but the whole reason why multiplayer Quake drives off newer players is because it's a difficult, unforgiving game populated solely by veterans who only play Duel and Rocket Arena. That's not something the series is ever going to be able to shed, and it's the reason arena shooters are dead in the first place.
Sadly all that anyone plays is CA, which is bloody boring and frustrating. Once in a while a Duel server shows up but lo and behold I get rekt cause no one ever plays Duel.
This is true, which is why it's so sad. A game like Quake needs to be free-to-play to compete in this day and age, but that brings all the cruft of those games with it.
Guys QC concentrates more on team games and free for all than on duel modes, because otherwise the high skill ceiling Is already enough to chase away most newcomers anyway. Reflex arena for example? Dead even after full release because duel mode all the time.
I was basically throbing watching this, finally a multiplayer game I actually want to play, my friends and I are gonna be non stop playing this thing I can tell
There's a rumor that they will release Quake Champions either after Bethesda's E3 Showcase, or they will announce the release date then. Also, id didn't develop this alone. They outsourced parts of it to Saber Interactive. The guys behind Will Rock and TimeShift. Much like DOOM, id isn't handling much of their MP content internally these days. DOOM's MP was outsourced to Certain Affinity, and after release... DOOM's MP shifted to BattleCry Studios. id has the bulk of the studio focused on something else that hasn't been announced yet.
I had that same issue where my bullets just ran straight through enemies sometime and i ended up quitting the game because it was just too frustrating...
I just discovered your chanel and I already love it. I like that you review older and lesser known games as well! Now excuse me while I bingewatch all of your videos in one sitting...
Thanks for taking a look at the Beta. I have been having major PC build issues and haven't been able to get my new rig up and running to play it. Your video makes it look fairly true to Quake III and it looks like a ton of fun. I hope there is a "Classic Mode" in the end, as I'd personally prefer to play in a setting where everyone has the same stats. However, it's nice to know that they are trying to balance out the varying characters. As long as a single character isn't broken to the point of making the rest redundant, it's a system that can work and potentially add more strategy to an already deep game.
playing Quake champions made me realize how overlysimplistic are Overwatch map designs. You can memorize , not the layout of the maps in Overwatch, but where you are going to find health packs. It's like the game is designed in a way you know where they are Quake champions, having a more diverse list of items to pick up makes you memorize way more where the items you need are. That being said, the matchmaking speed is atrocious. Deathmatch and team deathmatch is ok, you wait 5 minutes at worst but isn't terrible, But i tried to get into a Sacrifice map and i waited 20 minutes, got bored and closed the game. Maybe it's because it's on closed beta, so the player pool may be smaller right now.
I thought I'd heard that there was also going to be an option to pay for the full version of this game, where you get all the champions present and future right away, bypassing the F2P model.
There's some misinformation at the end of your video. Quake I was also largely multiplayer based as it finally allowed for up to around 16 players in a single server as opposed to Doom where the most amount of people you could have on a single server was 4. Quake II's multiplayer was also pretty popular, and Quake III wasn't made to compete with Unreal Tournament as Id decided on what Quake III would be before UT was even announced.
Very thought-out, clear, and well-presented review. Most reviewers don't hit this quality of review delivery. The background visuals not only make it amazing to look at, but they actually show the gameplay, giving a feel for how the game pans out in real time. Subscribed, and looking forward to catching up with your other reviews.
always the most accurate and straight forward opinions on games. i watch your reviews because i share the same opinions on every game you've reviewed that ive played.
I played since the closed beta started. first match, I got my ass kicked, but follow up matches, I reawoke my old school multiplayer shooter spirit and did...average. I was getting more kills, rushed the better power weapons and learned to bunny hop and rocket jump more efficiently
"It would've been less painful if everyone on that server flew over to my house and rawdogged me with a pineapple" Ouch. I hope they peeled the pineapple first.
So I'm an Australian player here too and from what I can tell, people in other regions don't seem to be experiencing the same level of latency issues we are getting, particularly this weekend just gone. A heap of extra information is being included in the upload to id every frame (hence the increased latency with higher fps rates), and they actually increased it significantly this weekend just passed. What I'm wondering is if maybe this information has to actually go to id, and that's why AU servers are seeing so much lag. If that is the case, when they stop this (as it's only for the beta) that should help latency a LOT. Hard to say though. Only other comment - id have said that it wont be coming out anytime soon as they want to run a looooong beta and get things right. Nice video :)
You have some pretty good points in this video! I'm starting to watch and love your reviews more and more, ever since I watched your review on Serious Sam knockoff Will Rock. By the way, sorry to hear about your anger issues when you first played Quake Champions. I played for myself and thought it was great, but then decided to wait until the full release to play the actual game as a whole.
Genuinely been curious about how this turned out, and I gotta say I'm actually looking forward to the refined full release. Can't wait to get back into some arena shooting action.
There are many difficult multiplayer games that have been successful people are not so dumb as we think they are. However quake champions needs both good tutorials and good matchmaking system for the game to be welcoming to new players.
Net code seems better now. This is honestly one of my favorite shooters ever, and I'm new to Quake. I'm getting destroyed but I can feel myself getting better each game. I really like this game and I hope the community grows!
Couple of points : 1 - Free to play model with buy-able characters(champions), yes, BUT(!) you can pay full price and forget all about access to all of the champions. 2 - While I agree on the point about how all these characters are not equal per-Se, and the results are less dependent on pure, distilled skill, the fact, that you then acknowledge that if classic mode will be included it won't be popular, contradicts the previous statement. I.E. - if new quake was all old-school(following this logic) it would not get enough popularity at all. But the way it is + classic mode would give people choice and let them decide which mode should be crown jewel(there IS always the risk of community being too streched out through out all the modes, which is bad, no doubt about it).
Since we're on the subject of Quake, My Lord Gggmanlives, try checking out the classic Quake mod, Nehahra. It's a hard mod, and it requires some engine fiddling to work, but it's pretty awesome. Apart from some really silly writing and voice acting, it's got a compelling story, its got new weapons, new enemies, Half-Life-like interactivity, and nifty animations and effects.
Alright, so it'll undoubtedly stick closer to the tried formula of its forebears than Doom did, but I'm willing to bet that it won't perform as well as Doom did. People _say_ they want "true" old school shooters back - and some definitely mean it - but I can guarantee that more than a few reviewers with rose-tinted glasses shat all over Doom's multiplayer for reasons _other_ than how fun the game was to play. Don't get me wrong, I poured years into Q3A - and wasn't half bad at it, either - but some people are having a difficult time separating ID's last two games from the nostalgic ghost image of these iconic franchises burned into the back of their eyelids. I mean, I'll probably buy this, but I don't know if I'll find it as captivating as I found Doom, and for reasons that relate directly to the design formula departures that ID took when making it. Different ≠ bad, and sometimes game design choices of yesteryear are one of those "you had to be there" things, and not one of those "they set the gold standard" things.
Great video, pretty much summed up my thoughts for the most part. Sacrifice was meh - I feel like for the different characters and abilities to fully shine, we need another couple of objective game modes like CTF or domination. One can only play so much DM and TDM before things start to get tiring
Actually, im not even alone with my observations www.pcgamesn.com/quake-champions/quake-champions-release-date-gameplay-beta-trailer "A number of fans have pointed out its resemblance to Rage’s Combat Shotgun, but there’s no telling if it’ll behave similarly" img13.deviantart.net/1b47/i/2014/049/e/9/combat_shotgun_render_by_kosloski001-d773gut.jpg
Thankfully, all of the issues you've raised in the video are steadily being improved and worked on. Doomguy has been added just as you asked for, along with Keel also returning from Quake 3, connection and latency and getting better with every update and the hitreg and hitboxes for the slimmer characters are also being improved. Quake Champions is looking very promising indeed so far.
Now I’d like to add a little 2 cents to this video, or at least the opinion of someone who prefers the multiplayer style of Quake 3 rather than champions. I was born a few years after Q3, and never got to experience any game of the sort as a kid. So when I got my first FPS game in my hands, *Nova 3 on mobile devices* yes that game, I was used to having that strange advantage of high level players and clear metas in First Person Shooters. This ranged all the way until I got my hands on Open Arena (again, on mobile) and I fell dearly in love with it. I played the game with 4 fingers on my tiny phone, so I didn’t have to take my thumb off the shoot button to look around, played with adding new maps and player models, and the game took me for a loop. The game was entirely skill based; every player gets the same access to the same weapons on the same map. No one was left out because of level or “I didn’t buy this character yet”, and it stripped me away from the agitating meta mess of some modern day shooters, or least took the uniformity of it all away from me, giving me a nice breather. When I got my first computer, (before I played an almost scary amount of Kid Icarus uprising, and Doom 2016 multiplayer/singleplayer) as a FPS lover, I hopped on and played your everyday shooters like anyone else would, loved some, hated others, and I still played Quake and OA when I felt like testing my might on a no nonsense playing field. Then champions came out, and I was flabbergasted by the game taking that same uniformity that other modern shooters have. I got dunked back into the uniformity of modern FPS metas I really didn’t want to be in when it came to Quake, as it was my “I’ll get good at this” shooter as a kid with little to play on but a Samsung 6s on a cruddy WiFi connection. Now some shooters have that spark of “hey, this is good”, with me even getting around to a open source Halo 3 clone which I loved to play, but when games have that same “FPS aftertaste”, it really glares how you can smudge a game just but slightly following the mode of business.
I agree with you man, I keep reporting the networking sometimes you don't even see projectiles coming at you and players with bad connection often teleport.
I have been playing this since the first closed beta and I have been really liking it and will continue to buy this when it gets released (F2P with option to buy all current and future champions are the options). One thing I would also like to add is to change this announcer. I don't really like how he sounds and would much prefer someone with more personality to be honest. Maybe another thing they could monetize is different announcers? I would like to note that the only Quake-like games I have played Quake 1, Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Tournament 4. Playing Quake Live never really held my attention because it was both too hard for me to get into and the community was not really too pleasant for my taste. Quake Champions is really awesome and has made me want to continue playing it! I am unsure if it's the new variety and customization, or the new player base and new game but I am glad I can play a modern Quake game! Everyone should try and get a chance to play the game if they can! Especially when it goes F2P as it is quite an experience to try out even!
The Ranger Skins make me want a new quake campaign base on Quake 1's, i hope they would just make it if the game does well as a separate add on on top of the free to play multiplayer or something
The beta is now early access. I was able to get it for free now and my first Mach was good. I was worried the community would be like Call of Duty. Just a bunch of trolls and hackers but no one mocked me and this game wanted me to get the original game too. I even saw your Quake review and hope to do a let's play of it when I buy it.
I wholeheartedly agree with the single-player sentiment. If they really want to get the series back to its roots, then it needs a great single-player mode like Doom has. Even better if they bring back the Lovecraft theme.
Aye TripleG, you forgot a very important factor. Id have said they will also sell a full version of the game for average retail price with all champions unlocked and which will unlock all future champions.
I noticed the name Cornelia pop up in the footage: I wonder if it's the same Cornelia who used to be legendary in Quake 4 especially? She was paid to play people at conventions... oh wait she spelled her name with a K (as in that's her real first name). NVM then. Champions being there: You should also remember that this relates to the game's legacy in two ways. a) There have always been different characters since Q3 so it's not a big stretch that they have different abilities as well and b) Team Fortress was a mod for Quake, so at least we've seen something similar in a well-liked mod before. BTW fun/crazy fact: my friend who used to play Q3 says he would choose Daemia as his player model because she's slimmer and thus was ACTUALLY HARDER TO HIT. Can you believe it? Ofc you could choose to force player models but this required (as I understand) you to use that particular model as well. Maybe I misunderstood him...
There's been a whole, whole bunch of changes to this game recently, what with several new heroes, more game-modes, optimizations (apparently they're still a ways off with the netcode though, according to many...) and even a Steam-release (so no bethesda-launcher!) Hoping the final release is soon, because I'd love to see what you think about the final product!
Quake Champions is a great game, they should change the duel mode because it's crap or at least make it optional. CTF and Freeze Tag with the special abilities are going to be awesome.
I know in Quake 3 Arena everyone is supposed to be exactly the same. No one character has an advantage over another. But I swear some characters just FEEL faster while others FEEL tankier. Like Anarki and Slash for example, you just feel like you're zipping along and then you pick up a Haste and it's absurd. It's probably just the placebo effect but I know I've got the feeling of "I could run circles around you all day."
Am I the only wishing for a new Quake game? Like not another Quake III or Champions but I mean a single player experience, returning to either the strogg or even the lovecraftian elements. I’d be down to see that make a return someday.
Honestly, the bigger problem (than the abilities) from what I've heard from my QC-playing Quake/Xon buddies is that a lot of the game is just so dumbed down (for the record, they're enjoying the game, but they're not really selling me on it). Simplified armor system, the removal of the plasma/hyperblaster and grenade launcher, and the fact that a single rail can bring a light character from in control to out of it is criminal. The netcode, as you said, is pretty awful I already expected no mods, player hosted servers etc, because it's a modern F2P game. Why bother with longevity when you can sell skins right? It does suck that they're not in, and will probably never be in. Also sucks that proper duel will be relegated to a non-matchmade custom gametype if it makes it in at all Also re: community, I see people say stuff like that a lot but maybe it's a QLive thing? I've only found the CPM and Xonotic communities to be extremely helpful. Reflex as well actually. Only issue with 'Flex is people bowing out of matches early, but not everyone is willing to sit through a high skill disparity match and I cant really blame them for not putting up with my shit (though I wish they'd stick around post-match so I could tell them how I got those extra frags)
While i have no problem with champions from a gameplay model which is the only real way to update an old style game I do have a problem with it from a business model because how do I decide what champion I want before I buy it. Like I may need a day or two to decide whether I wanna buy sorlag or whatever
i love Q3A and Quake Live and i most certainly do love the addition of Quake Champions, but i would goddamn love a Single Player Quake game, or atleast a gamemode. i would love to play as Quake Guy this time. (Ranger i guess)
Great review, it is fair. Love this game so far and hope It will become a big E-sport game with alot of players! They are working hard on memory loss and netcode they say its there first priority and it will be fixed don't worry.
As someone who's a part of the generation associated with MP games like CSGO and Overwatch this game was a welcome breath of fresh air especially since I do enjoy old school FPS games like Doom and Unreal quite a bit. I've always wanted to get into Quake multiplayer but QIII doesn't have to many active servers that aren't bots and Quake Live fucking sucks because all anyone plays is Clan Arena and I hate that mode with a passion. With this I can finally play some glorious Quake 1v1 without getting completely destroyed by 20+ year veterans of the series EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've been playing this since the very first closed beta wave and I can't wait until it gets a release on Steam, not to mention I've actually become quite decent at it despite not having a whole lot of Quake experience before hand. however I did learn how to Strafe jump Before playing this thanks to a Quake Live training maps.
Normally I wouldn't give a damn about multiplayer (mostly because I tend to suck at fps online). But this game... THIS GAME. I actually like it. Literally the first multiplayer FPS I actually enjoy playing.
For me personally, I am still waiting for another Quake game with a single player story like how the first one has this Lovecraftian, sci-fi horror, other fantasy combo and how 2 and 4 has a sci-fi action theme (correct me if I am wrong but Quake 2 was going to have a different title?). And for all I care, it can be a different theme.
Considering this was a quite long Closed Beta period, I'd say it's a long enough time before the full release. Plus also they asked each participant to do a survey of their experience which is nice and re-affirms the feeling that it isn't just a demo like some betas are these days.
So far it's a great game - tons of fun and is undeniably Quake but fresh enough to feel like a real sequel rather than a needless remake of a game that didn't need one. There's a LOT of work that needs to be done though, netcode is a bit messy and balance tweaks can go a long way but it's good stuff so far.
Personally, I would've liked a return to the Lovecraftian theme of the first Quake with a new single player game, but machine games have this covered.

ID should make a real Quake 5 already.
Toàn Khánh and return to the quake 1 style
And quake champions is quake 5, literally plays identically to quake 3, even all of the weapons are fucking the same
dont be silly they dont use numbers in games any more, the marketing department says we need to pretend its the first game now
Quake Champions is Quake 5.
Pretty sure Toan means a singleplayer Quake
Your connection rant bit is pure gold. I couldn't agree more. Well said.
2019 quake still has problem lagging and high ping
@@Go_Coup Well some people is not lagging
So game is much better now.
And no Bethesda Launcher in Steam version.
playing Quake champions made me realize how overlysimplistic are Overwatch map designs.
You can memorize , not the layout of the maps in Overwatch, but where you are going to find health packs. It's like the game is designed in a way you know where they are
Quake champions, having a more diverse list of items to pick up makes you memorize way more where the items you need are.
That being said, the matchmaking speed is atrocious. Deathmatch and team deathmatch is ok, you wait 5 minutes at worst but isn't terrible,
But i tried to get into a Sacrifice map and i waited 20 minutes, got bored and closed the game.
Thanks!
wait there is a classic mode in doom?
***** oh he ment that and I was wondering what classic mode
I guess he means the classic death match mode. It's true that I've never seen anyone playing that mode, just the team modes.
I love you man. Never stop doing your video reviews
GGGman I remember when you only had 300 subs. I've been watching since the beginning.
I always watch your videos even though I've never heard of these games! I love your videos man, you could make a podcast and I'd listen for hours.
always the most accurate and straight forward opinions on games. i watch your reviews because i share the same opinions on every game you've reviewed that ive played.
What are your thoughts on Quake Live as opposed to the original Quake 3?
It blow holes.
I played since the closed beta started. first match, I got my ass kicked, but follow up matches, I reawoke my old school multiplayer shooter spirit and did...average. I was getting more kills, rushed the better power weapons and learned to bunny hop and rocket jump more efficiently
How do you like it?
"It would've been less painful if everyone on that server flew over to my house and rawdogged me with a pineapple"
Ouch.
The Scorn-trailer had me thinking of Quake 1 with it's dialogue free "this-is-anything-but-Earth" realm and overall feeling.
5:40
When I played quake for the first time
"which means we know it's going to be well optimised from day 1"
ehh...
I'm happy to see a preview where the lag issues are being addressed.
God damn it just make quake 5 already! I want to know what Kane's mission is
Net code seems better now. This is honestly one of my favorite shooters ever, and I'm new to Quake. I'm getting destroyed but I can feel myself getting better each game. I really like this game and I hope the community grows!
Couple of points :
1 - Free to play model with buy-able characters(champions), yes, BUT(!) you can pay full price and forget all about access to all of the champions.
Just noticed that shotgun is taken from RAGE and then re-modelled a little bit.
I remember that shogun aesthetic quite vividly and I don't see the resemblance.
Actually, im not even alone with my observations
www.pcgamesn.com/quake-champions/quake-champions-release-date-gameplay-beta-trailer
"A number of fans have pointed out its resemblance to Rage’s Combat Shotgun, but there’s no telling if it’ll behave similarly"

***** It still looks slightly different to me, but you've definitely made your point.
ShadowWarrior42 yeah, its not straight "copy", but recognizable. like it matters at all, game is quite good anyways. just had to nitpick a little bit
***** Looks incredibly boring to me and lacking depth but eh, my opinion is just very different from yours.
I would LOVE to see a Quake singleplayer reboot.
3 years later and the game still hasn't been formally released.
Quake Chapions is so retro that even the connection reminds me of 56K analog modems!
bethesda luncher? OMFG! How many luncher are we going to have installed on the computer! FUUUUCK!
6:47 Nice attack on you teammate there buddy.
I agree with you man, I keep reporting the networking sometimes you don't even see projectiles coming at you and players with bad connection often teleport.
"raw dogged me with a pineapple" holy shit gggman that was the best thing you've ever said
You should do an updated review of the game. Most issues have been resolved and the game is pretty good now.
I played always UT, every part.
But this time i buy Quake :)
I love Arena Shooter
XxHordakxX this game is free go play it
wow, anglish!
Top-notch review, as always
performance/lag has been improved vastly
The Ranger Skins make me want a new quake campaign base on Quake 1's, i hope they would just make it if the game does well as a separate add on on top of the free to play multiplayer or something
The beta is now early access. I was able to get it for free now and my first Mach was good. I was worried the community would be like Call of Duty. Just a bunch of trolls and hackers but no one mocked me and this game wanted me to get the original game too. I even saw your Quake review and hope to do a let's play of it when I buy it.
great review as always
I wholeheartedly agree with the single-player sentiment. If they really want to get the series back to its roots, then it needs a great single-player mode like Doom has. Even better if they bring back the Lovecraft theme.
Oh i miss the good days from Quake Live :(
This game looks fucking awesome. Didnt grow up with Quake 3 but who knows I may love this game.
Aye TripleG, you forgot a very important factor. Id have said they will also sell a full version of the game for average retail price with all champions unlocked and which will unlock all future champions.
You're like the Rocket Frag Ninja.
Holy crap.
They actually gave Sorlag a voice outside of alien gurgles.
Cool.
I agree, the game is looking really good. I'm enjoying the Beta too, and I'm hoping for netcode fixes, new maps and new characters!
It's probably just the placebo effect but I know I've got the feeling of "I could run circles around you all day."
wolfenstein, DOOM, and quake are awesome again the 90s are back!
Hope Saber can announcing Timeshift soon. Guess what? This year is the 10th anniversary of the game.
I won't be happy unless Orbb is released. I love that little guy..
The netcode, as you said, is pretty awful
I already expected no mods, player hosted servers etc, because it's a modern F2P game. Why bother with longevity when you can sell skins right? It does suck that they're not in, and will probably never be in. Also sucks that proper duel will be relegated to a non-matchmade custom gametype if it makes it in at all
Also re: community, I see people say stuff like that a lot but maybe it's a QLive thing? I've only found the CPM and Xonotic communities to be extremely helpful. Reflex as well actually. Only issue with 'Flex is people bowing out of matches early, but not everyone is willing to sit through a high skill disparity match and I cant really blame them for not putting up with my shit (though I wish they'd stick around post-match so I could tell them how I got those extra frags)
Damn, you made this look really good. Im buying this now :P
I'd love a single player reboot. awesome vid
I would like a reboot of the Quake4 game. I actually liked that one very much.
PixelReviver UT 98 still kind of has servers
Normally I wouldn't give a damn about multiplayer (mostly because I tend to suck at fps online). But this game... THIS GAME. I actually like it. Literally the first multiplayer FPS I actually enjoy playing.
I love the fact how they reused a lot of the sounds from Quake III
The unlimited fps is ludicrous. Wish they would add a maxfps setting
I'm surprised you went the whole video without saying "Sonny Jim" :3
So far it's a great game - tons of fun and is undeniably Quake but fresh enough to feel like a real sequel rather than a needless remake of a game that didn't need one. There's a LOT of work that needs to be done though, netcode is a bit messy and balance tweaks can go a long way but it's good stuff so far.
Wish they just remade Quake 1/Quakeworld. The multiplayer on that was always the best and still is. Or Quake 2, that was awesome too.
