21:24 1/0.055*7*2 = ~255 DPS from dual wielded LGs. (7 per tick, 1 tick per 55 ms). Clutch's shield is down for 0.7 seconds after firing. So that makes ~178 damage dealt in that window. He had 228 health, but must have taken self damage from the rocket? Does the rocket do >=50 self damage? In that case it would explain this kill. edit: It seems like something is wrong with the armor formula. It is supposed to absorb 2/3rd of the damage, but here it absorbs way less. As you can see he is 100/216 at the very start of the engagement. Which would result in 16 armor left at 0 health, but he has 70 armor left at 0 health. Something might be going wrong with damage rounding. edit: Ok I found something. I believe the armor calculation is heavily rounded. If you look closely at 21:23, and then 21:25 you can see that he lost 36 health and 49 armor before his shield activates. 36/(36+49) = ~42% damage done goes to his health, while it should be only 33.33%. If we look at the 7 damage from LG, and then take 2/3rds, we get 4.6667. If we round that down we get that armor blocks 4/7 of LG damage. Which means 3/7 of the damage goes to health. (36/(36+49))/(3/7) = 0.98823529411. This is so close to 1 that I presume my rounding theory is correct.

You're underestimating the power of normie cluelessness. Quake has always been full of people who couldn't name one competitive player or even know the game was competitive. Now with steam it's even worse. Back then you couldn't install quake by chance, nowadays you can.
You can tell its a beginner because he moves like a bot and have absolutely zero clue about objectives. If you don't know those two simple things, you can't predict where your opponent will be and you can't get to the point where you can ambush them based off that knowledge. Railgun and Rocket Launcher can be reactionary weapons, but they're mostly used with the above knowledge to set traps or simply do damage without taking damage yourself and losing stacks and control. Aim is important, but its only 1/6th of what's needed to be great at Quake. You also need movement, timing, experience, strategy and the focus to keep all of that in mind while dueling some of the best players in the world at the same time.

The hypocrisy of the cheater, blatantly cheats, still loses, and then accuses his opponent of being the one cheating. What is laughable, is that Quake Champions is about more than aim, which is why he lost. Imagine how much of a pain he would be if he knew the maps, the movement, and how to contest the items. Full credit to the matchmaking though, cheaters should always be matched with top end players, to teach them a lesson. It is when they are thrust into casual matches that they cause the most problems for any given game. Game devs could easily rectify that with better matchmaking (as in, take aim into account, instead of relying solely on elo rating).
Brings back memories of orginal Quake and school mates who with we had an team on Ladder . All those strats to lock down important drops and timings on every map how you tend to run so you are there within second or two when they respawn... ps. You are really good at Quake dude.. Really good.
I agree with Rapha's comments at the end of the video. If that dude knew how to strafe and rocket jump, he may have been just about unbeatable. An aimbot/wallhack in the "wrong" hands can be very rough to deal with.....it's easier to deal with them in team games than in 1v1.
Why would anyone compensate this way? Maybe they cheat for fun, to make someone pissed, to earn points or whatever other crap there is. Some people cheat. Many byciclists eat drugs and change blood and other bullshit to win race.

The level of outplay is sooooooooooooo high, we haven't invented a name for the number! Well played rapha!!! I would have immediately left after getting aimbotteded the first time, but you not only stayed, you DUSTED his ass!
UPS, or units per second. A special unit used to calculate speed in quake games. You can turn it on in the game’s settings. Very helpful for learning strafe jumping and circle jumping
5:38 Well it's fun in an old singleplayer game like an RTS. Imagine constantly managing your resource, you have 8 different units, 6 vehicles, 4 air units, multiple buildings and naval ships and you're only allowed to use one or three of each, the rest is useless. You beat the game, you mastered everything. Now with cheats or sandbox skirmish you can finally have fun and have an army of a weak and expensive but really funny units and do anything you like that would otherwise be impossible and very ineffective. Like an artillery that's a glass cannon they takes too long to produce to be effective. Or in a singleplayer shooter where every single damn game only allows you to use the machine gun for 3 seconds 3 times before you're out of ammo the whole game or the biggest guns being so rare on ammo you'l only use it on bosses. Now you can finally spam it to your hearts content without worry of ammo or anything. It's such a wonderful feeling like winning the jackpot against an egotistical jerk non stop in his face after he's talked trash and kicked you while calling you lucky for beating him slightly every time through skill.
that lighting guy was playing pretty brainlessly, just trying to get line of sight with lg with no awareness of how you have to approach someone holding a corner with a rocket launcher. Look at the events around 24:10. Rapha's opponent literally walking in a straight line to get line of sight, no care in the world for dodging or mitigating damage. I guess he did learn something. At 23:49 he actually waited for rapha's shield to go down before using his lg, so he did use his brain a little.
at 17:08 when Ralpha says "damn, through the shields," if you watch it in slomo you can see the health and armor take hits and changes score only when the shield is down. So I think Ralpha is wrong about that part, too. So that is at least 2 times Ralpha was wrong.
I don't understand the point of using a bot at all. If you aren't good, practice and get better. Nice job putting him in his place. Hey, do you ever play Quake 2? Seems to be a bit of a resurgence at Tastyspleen. Would be good to see you there :) Take care Pun[afro]
He somehow thought Rapha was a cheater too and said GG in the end, because that is his only logical reason to not win in his braindead mind. Also he was extremely predictable and was tilted enough to turn every cheat on he could. Pathetic on so many levels and also a tad amusing at the same time haha
Must be frustrating facing opponenst not knowing the game, thinking it's all about aim. I've also been killed through the shield like that. What do you think regarding the legs, feet and splashdamage? To me the rocketlauncher seems less capable than in q3. Good old q3 was mostly rocketlauncher, lightningun and ofc rail.
First time seeing this wallhack 'ability'. These abilities and differing stats for combatants kill the game for me, was looking forward to playing it, never realised it died about 5 minutes after going live beta. And wtf with 90 rail damage? Takes 3 shots to make a rail kill in CA, i thought they had old school pros advising? So long and farewell faithful friend, I won't remember this or q4 as being part of the lineage.
I still wonder how this cheater will look back at these games vs the 7time future QPL grandmaster accusing him of cheating while he does it himself, such gamers who cheat in games prob also cheat in live , always looking for the shortcuts to make it easy while it just makes everything even harder for them, they are just stupid
That's not the LG, that's the secondary ability of Clutch, the mining laser, which can be activated when pressing F a second time. You can see him activate his shield first, and then he pressed F again to activate the laser. The laser is basically the LG but does less damage and has insane range.
This game looks cool, but I can't play it because of lags. It lag even in menu and it doesn't matter what settings I'm using. I'm running it on ssd and amd 7970+i5 3570. Can someone tell me how to fix this lags?
I'm new to quake champions, haven't played an arena fps since UT back in the day so forgive my stupid question but... how are you sure that guy was cheating? i know the stat checks sum it up pretty well, but how do you know so quickly in-game?
Reminds me of a quake3 player named cl0ck who aimbotted for a while as a teenager. Eventually stopped and went legit to compete for years, but his reputation was always tarnished from the ~6 months he botted as a kid lol
I love that you brought up Counterstrike and Overwatch as examples of those terrifying life-like aimbots. I hope for your sake you've never experienced that because its damaging to self-confidence when you don't know what's real or not anymore, or you just get that same feeling and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Just played two games team deathmatch with and against a cheater. He was going by the name Scottlander. 50-60% aim with any weapon, 40+ kills at the end. Doesn't jump, just walks around. Weird behaviour. You can see that he is not good. I played Visor so when I use my ability I see that when he comes around a corner automatically starts shooting and doesn't miss until you're dead. Recorded the game and reported him. Cheaters are always ruining the game.
I was playing on q3a for years, I'd spend about 6 hours a day practicing rail shots, long range and upclose, i got my accuracy to about 99% , but it drops when you have too many good players targeting you, I'd play ffa, and i was top for a little while, this guy started calling me a cheater, i immediately see spectators with my ping, so they watching, despite carrying on, the way i play, i try to home in on the sounds, after a few games, the spectators came to the conclusion of we don't know lol, here's the funny thing .. The guy who claimed i was cheating, he pwned me on small maps with lots of walls, but open spaced maps i was more comfortable... One time he decided he wanted to try and catch me out, so he hid behind a wall, now i was approaching the wall n just noticed a small amount of clipping from the character, n stopped abd turned around... His response " see you just turned around" My response " yeah you saw me through the wall, turning around"
His Slash skills are crazy. I didn't even know she could move like that. I kinda gave up on her. I should probably watch more of these videos and up my game.
If you haven't, I suggest watching Toxic (another pro player) play Slash; it's almost nauseating watching him glide around the map with Slash :) I've actually recently picked up Slash myself, and I'm having tons of fun despite it being very hard to learn and master.
Ryan Almira ^ This. Watching TOXJQ play Slash is like watching a high-speed graceful ballet with rocketlaunchers and railguns. Slash is really fun to play even for a noob like me, once you get the basic slide going, traveling at speed around corners with ease is really fun. Still pros can move not only forward but backwards/sideways around the map at high speeds without hitting corners as if they were lubed, its jaw dropping to see in action.
Think how unstoppable this hacker would be if he could count to 30, but thankfully that horrific scenario will never come to pass.

I spitted my drink when he matched with the same dude again
his map knowledge is so good, he knows where you are and can even do the biggest, most precise pre-fire ever
It's so cool seeing Rapha not only reporting a hacker for the first time but also destroying him 3-0. What a machine
17:24 that distance.
"why you have to be mad it's only game" @11:02
Seen this guy in random games just walking around practically 90 percent mging
Kinda sad for the cheater. Why would you cheat in a competitive mp game other then to compensate for the lack of accomplishments you made irl?
to hurt people
kotaku.com/5919160/one-shot-one-kill-no-skill-why-a-regular-gamer-started-paying-to-cheat-at-video-games
which again comes down to this reason: to compensate for the lack of accomplishments you made irl
Why would anyone compensate this way? Maybe they cheat for fun, to make someone pissed, to earn points or whatever other crap there is. Some people cheat. Many byciclists eat drugs and change blood and other bullshit to win race.
james 75 some people genuinly believe as a basis in life, the more accomplishments/succes (whichever means neccessary) they have life the more people will love them.
+james 75 because some people are handicapped/sick (dont know the right word)
You are the calmest person I have ever watched play Quake.. on top of that dealing with a bot !!. I want to know where your happy place is LOL
You actually didn't cut queuing out of the video. Good job.
It's crazy how entertaining this game is to watch. I don't play it at all but for some reason this is super entertaining. The guy barely even talks but I could watch him stream.
Yea isn't it mesmerizing in a way?
The level of outplay is sooooooooooooo high, we haven't invented a name for the number! Well played rapha!!! I would have immediately left after getting aimbotteded the first time, but you not only stayed, you DUSTED his ass!
Lol that “gg” at the end killed me
If I didn't know who Rapha was, I'd think he was a cheater too. Kekw. Insane player.
In other games hackers will destroy you. Not quake I see.
Well, this cheater was stupid :P
That would usually be the case, yes. But "zis is rapha"
When he realizes he's walling, Rapha uses it to his advantage and starts prefiring more.
Rapha is just that good.
What is the small fastly changing number under the crosshair?
Lol this guy names himself "LightingStorm".... Like... he over-zealously decorated his christmas tree...
20:34 lol. Gotta love Rapha, the Quake God!
This is why I respect Quake; Skill can prevail over cheating.
"you're shooting me through walls..." is playing vs a visor lmao
Dude doesn’t even know who Rapha is.
He’s definitely new to quake as a whole, but hits insane shots and an lg god.
Damn Rapha has been working on his aim.
My only regret is not seeing stream chat for this.
You know it’s bad when you use cheats and still get folded
that lighting guy was playing pretty brainlessly, just trying to get line of sight with lg with no awareness of how you have to approach someone holding a corner with a rocket launcher.
Hey i remember that name. As in, i actually, know this player, played against him, called him out for cheating and am glad i was right in retrospect.
still lovin it - you makes me a bright smile :)
I don't understand the point of using a bot at all. If you aren't good, practice and get better. Nice job putting him in his place. Hey, do you ever play Quake 2? Seems to be a bit of a resurgence at Tastyspleen. Would be good to see you there :) Take care Pun[afro]
How did you do that forward dash with clutch?
Clutch can dash in all directions. You quickly double tap directional keys you want to dash to.
Your loss
I still wonder how this cheater will look back at these games vs the 7time future QPL grandmaster accusing him of cheating while he does it himself, such gamers who cheat in games prob also cheat in live , always looking for the shortcuts to make it easy while it just makes everything even harder for them, they are just stupid
"Hacking, ban him so he pays more $ to get another account." - rapha taking decisions here xD :))
I know a guy who spent $300 on GTA back up accounts just to cheat.
17:31 WTF HOW?!? how did he even reach him him with the lightning gun?
That's not the LG, that's the secondary ability of Clutch, the mining laser, which can be activated when pressing F a second time. You can see him activate his shield first, and then he pressed F again to activate the laser. The laser is basically the LG but does less damage and has insane range.
This game looks cool, but I can't play it because of lags. It lag even in menu and it doesn't matter what settings I'm using. I'm running it on ssd and amd 7970+i5 3570. Can someone tell me how to fix this lags?
It just comes to show: even hackers can be dominated hard.
How is that possible that rails hit around the corners?
brilliant netcode
It was probably a pixel rail on his end, and the 50ms ping put it behind the corner on rapha's end.
I'm new to quake champions, haven't played an arena fps since UT back in the day so forgive my stupid question but... how are you sure that guy was cheating? i know the stat checks sum it up pretty well, but how do you know so quickly in-game?
nevermind, rapha sums it up later in the vid lel. well played Rapha
„Yeah.. yeah, that did not feel legit at all!“
I have that feeling all the time.. 🤣🤣
Reminds me of a quake3 player named cl0ck who aimbotted for a while as a teenager. Eventually stopped and went legit to compete for years, but his reputation was always tarnished from the ~6 months he botted as a kid lol
What are the usual wait times?
1:29
*walks in a straight line*
*gets hit*
"well, he's obviously cheating"
5:15-5:30 so much cold shoulder i forgot to turn up the heat :D
Any cheat in any game should be ip banned, hardware banned, birched and then dna banned!
What DPI can you recommend guys?
to report in QC -- while ingame -- hit esc >>>> social >>>> right click their name
I love that you brought up Counterstrike and Overwatch as examples of those terrifying life-like aimbots. I hope for your sake you've never experienced that because its damaging to self-confidence when you don't know what's real or not anymore, or you just get that same feeling and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
the best thing about this is you know he wanted to be called lightning storm,
Just played two games team deathmatch with and against a cheater.
This is gold. I love when cheaters get destroyed.
ive been playing quake just not competitive but watching you makes me wanna try it out
I was playing on q3a for years, I'd spend about 6 hours a day practicing rail shots, long range and upclose, i got my accuracy to about 99% , but it drops when you have too many good players targeting you, I'd play ffa, and i was top for a little while, this guy started calling me a cheater, i immediately see spectators with my ping, so they watching, despite carrying on, the way i play, i try to home in on the sounds, after a few games, the spectators came to the conclusion of we don't know lol, here's the funny thing
..
His response " see you just turned around"
My response " yeah you saw me through the wall, turning around"
6:54 just realized he got his name wrong when raph spelled it out :P
I always wondered how Rapha would fare against an exloiter. This answers the question. He didn't even look half focused 😳
That look of absolute determination is so satisfying to watch!
Imagine not knowing who Rapha is and asking if he's cheating on the game he fucking owns lol
