Regarding 9:36, when you use a steel hammer to strike a steel ring stretcher, the blows will damage the steel. Instead you should use a hammer with a head made of either bronze, brass, beryllium copper or nickel aluminum bronze. These are non-marring hammers because their metals are softer than steel yet still have the heft to deliver heavy blows.

Little tip. If you want to shine scratches out of a ring. Use tooth paste.

Sorry to keep on ,but if you leave your gold ring in boiling water ,then slip it over a metal sizer, the gold because it's soft will expand then cool down over the sizer giving you a larger diameter ring size. Give it a go it cost nothing.

To avoid scratches just put masking tape around the stretcher

Does this work with a wooden ring?

The problem with those ring enlargement devices is that while they work great, they start at size 6. For those of us who need to enlarge the smaller ring size there seems to be nothing available.

Hi guy' was watching this because I have a 9ct gold band ring I need to make a fraction larger. So looked up RUclips videos how it can be done. I'm watching the video and I'm thinking I know that voice' where do I know it from? Then it dawned on me bluefish. Lol and yep there it was your username just bluefish. I watch all your watch videos. I have twice watched as one guy no pun intended in the comments section said Rolex submariner " the movie" lol. I don't know why I have watched it twice as I own a sub date c myself. Crazy us watch nerds! All the best john

Hey John, this is an older video, surprised people still watch it. But I used this too to stretch a few rings. As long as you don’t go too crazy it worked well for me. Oh... if you enjoyed Rolex Submariner “the Movie” stay tuned for the Omega Speedmaster feature length review!
