  • @BIOSHOCKFOXX

    I used a duct tape. I cut down into strips and then into approximate length and width of the ring bridge, or how's it called. I stacked them for a while until it felt tight enough for the finger, shook my hand to see how much it takes for it to slide/slip off. When it was decent enough, I took slightly longer strips to wrap around the ring bridge to make it look much more cleaner, otherwise those stacked strips looked ugly and my finger could accidentally over time take them off because edges were visible. This way it would just slide.
    Kind of works. But it works if you got a silver or stainless steel/regular steel type of looking rings, because it would be less visible.
    I used this method because I had no transparent item to do something like this, and usually transparent tapes are weak, so I used the gray typical strong duct tape.

    I nearly had a heart attack when my mom’s wedding band slipped off at work. I change latex gloves 50+ times a day so it could’ve been anywhere. It was in the sanitation bucket. Had to do something to fix the issue with it coming off when wet. Thought to paint the inner band with gel nail polish and cure with the LED light. Added a few coats and capped the edges. Works great, super easy to reapply if it has any issues and very inexpensive if you already have the gel. Also undetectable if clear is used.

    I'm a petite women with small hands. I bought two different attachment thru amazon to make my engagement fit tighter. But, no luck.. even used the smallest insert and i cant get my finger thru. I don't want to tighten it at the jeweler because I feel like during pregnancy my fingers might get bigger. Thus seems like its much slimmer.. just enough to create enough space that it will fit.

    Thank you for the great tips.
    As I have so many gold rings that are half a size too large, I didn't want to pay for resizing them all.
    I purchased two very fine solid gold bands, 1mm or 1.5mm. Yes it was a one time purchase price of around a total of $200 but it solved the problem for all my gold rings. I now wear a band on both sides of my rings. That solves my problem and they are very thin to even be noticed. I remove them when fingers swell up in the hot weather.

    Great video...this may sound stupid, but my solution was to wear your ring on another finger excluding wedding rings...took me a little time to get used to it because i'm a little old fashioned but actually like it better than what i intended...it is a signet ring.

    For the threading method, wouldn't it make more since to have that tail against the ring during the wrapping to begin with instead of trying to force it underneath afterwards? Other than that, I think I am going to try that method. Good video with lots of ideas.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment. I suppose having one of the tail ends against the ring while wrapping could work. Note that there are 2 ends and you will still have to thread the other end through. I don't think it would be possible to have bother tail ends against the ring while wrapping.

    I have a ring that needs to be tightened. It's not a wedding ring or anything like that. Just a regular ring. Idk if I should take it to the jewelry store for them to do it or if I can do it at home

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  3 года назад

      If you do it at home it won't be a permanent fix but may be good enough for your needs. You'll have to determine if it's worth spending money on it. A jeweler can tell you if it's possible for them to work on it and how much. So if you bring it in to a few places to get an idea of pricing and possibility for resizing.
      Hope that helps.

    Does the screen protector method also works with rings with engraving on it?

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  3 года назад +1

      It could but may depend on how large the lettering and hole long the text is. I find that if a rings inner band surface is smooth and polished, the screen protector method may not stay on long.
      There is another technique you can try which i haven't had time to try out yet. It's the liquid glues that have a UV light used to harden it. It my work for you.

      If the DIY methods i mentioned won't work, you might want to get a jeweler to help. They can weld a metal plate, two metal beads or a metal spring plate on the inside of the band.
      Last resort is for the jeweler to cut and resize.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  2 года назад

      You can do a few sizes depending on the thickness of the line you use and how much of the shank you wrap and if you overlap or not. Note that there will be a limit to the thickness of the line you use and also how many overlaps you can do.
      Hope that helps.

    Please help. I've purchased 2 rolls of monofilament fishing line because this fits seen the best way for the sizing i need to do with my ring. Problem is I have to add wrote a bit to make it fit and the gauges that I've ordered are way to small and world probably tale both rolls together to work. Idk anything about monofilament fishing line! What gauge out test weight would be good for rings that need quite a bit to make fit? Plz help

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  Год назад

      The monofilament method can only do so much in terms of size adjustment. In the video I do overlap the monofilament to help adjust the size more. I was using a 30 lb weight monofilament, if that helps.
      Note that you can only go up to a certain size of monofilament line before it becomes not practical and not usable for this method. I haven't tried larger sizes yet so I can't tell you what is the largest size that will work.

    this is insane man. I tried twice with the fish line and I am good with my hands. But could not get the brands to go all next to another so after a good while of trying I just pulled hard but it broke, I cut the other side but it geos fit now but I dont think it's gonna hold very long. I should heat it up so the string hold together haha good Idea. Update, I ended up putting a small drop off crazy glue on the outer side to bond the strands together because it was not as perfect as you there were a few criss crosses of some of the brands.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  4 года назад +1

      Good idea with the crazy glue. Hope it holds.
      Also, what diameter fishing line are you using? It sounds like the line diameter is too small. This would make it more difficult to line the loops next to each other. Note that I used 0.022" / 0.55 mm diameter monofilament.
      You might want to give that a try.

    • @christineblack4654

      I would say .75 mm if I compare to the others that I have. the one I used the sticker was gone. But is is pretty thick.

    You said white gold is plated. It's an alloy made of a couple different metals. One of which is gold. The other can be one of a couple different metals, such as silver, palladium, platinum. So, it's a solid metal.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  4 года назад

      You are correct that white gold is alloyed with other metals. Though, to give it the pure white shine it is plated with rhodium which does wear off over time.

    • @64t120r
      @64t120r 4 года назад

      @@FrakkingCreations Ya and it wears off pretty quick. People get them replated all the time. Personally, I think it's weird that people don't like white gold so they have it plated to look more white.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  4 года назад +1

      True. To me it's like white gold isn't good or appealing enough so "let's plate it" so that people are tricked into thinking it's more valuable because it glitters and shines.

    • @kyle88740
      @kyle88740 4 года назад +1

      @@FrakkingCreations Customers drove the prevalence of plating white gold. They hear "white gold" and expect it to be actually white like silver or platinum, but the reality is even the whitest alloys have a slightly yellowish or greyish colour. During the 1st world war platinum was deemed an important war time resource so all platinum use in jewellery was halted. This was at a time when platinum was extensively used in jewellery and demand for a white metal that looked like platinum was still high. So metallurgists started experimenting with gold, adding bleaching metals such as nickel, palladium, and silver.
      Nickel was found to provide the best bleaching effect and the best hardening effect as the primary alloying metal, and was inexpensive. The trade off being, severely reduced workability and brittleness. There were high nickel white gold alloys that were very white, but difficult to work with because they had memory when annealing them after deformation and were prone to heat cracking from forming and annealing processes. Their workability in sheet and wire form was low due to the high nickel content so they were relegated to casting alloys.
      Fabricated pieces were made from a different alloy, "rolling white", as it has far better workability at the sacrifice of colour. These are often plated, then it just became standard practice to rhodium plate because the customer was not happy that their gold ring didn't look shining white. It was a solution, not a deception. Personally I like the colour of white gold and go with an alloy that does not require plating when making a piece.
      Alloys have come a long way in terms of combining whiteness and workability. I can find alloys that are quite white, don't require plating and provide enough flexibility that allows for fabrication and casting methods. They are not quite the greyish-white colour of the old high nickel whites that mimiced the colour of platinum, but they're close. The white gold that appears yellow are often low quality white gold from commercial sources such as Costco, Walmart, etc. But many white gold alloys will look slightly yellowish when compared to the greyish white of rhodium.

    Why couldn't I find a narrow band of cloth I can wrap around my finger and position the ring over it? I just don't want to put anything inside my mother's wedding ring so I can wear it without worrying about it sliding off my finger.

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  3 года назад

      It's really up to you how you want to approach this. Everyone will have unique situations so will have to decide based on that. If the cloth solution works for you then that's fine too. You will have to keep the cloth clean though as sweat dirt and other things will absorb into the cloth and over time if not cleaned it becomes a place for bacteria to grow.
      The monofilament solution does work well for wedding rings as I showed on our ring. Though it depends how much adjustment you need. Another good solution that is more permanent could be getting a jeweler to attach a metal plate in the inside of the ring as shown in one of the example solutions. Hope that helps.

I ended up using a very small strip of silver duct tape and it worked like a charm felt like a completely different ring when it fitted right its yellow gold so you cant even see the silver at the bottom it worked perfectly and easy to remove if i want so before you start welding or using a mile of fishing line from god knows were try simple methods first.

    How to resize a ring if you have to make it big as the size usually increase by age

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  2 года назад

      Increasing the size of a ring is more complex. There are tools that can be used to stretch the metal shank of the ring but that will not work with all rings. For example, the engagement ring that I demoed with the fishing line cannot be stretched because the ring would come apart.
