Just got back from the Tonga room. As a native San Franciscan. This is definitely one part of the city that has to absolutely be seen if you're a tourist or even if you're just not a tourist to be a part of. The fact that it almost closed down a few years ago is heartbreaking. But I'm so thankful that it is still around and still entertaining and still being the amazing place that it always has been. And yes, they do serve a stiff drink! That rum will fuck you up. Definitely.
I graduated from college, when my brother took me bar hopping. We took the cable car from the Hyatt Regency and then strolled into the Tonga Room. I think that I had Zombie, which totally smashed me. We took the cable car back down and definitely saw stars. This place is a SF classic.
