Long live Tiki! Unfortunately, on the East Coast not many examples survive. Thanks for taking me to the show. Next time spent a little more time with the tiki Elvira!
As of my searching today Don The Beachcomber & Oceanic Arts have already closed for good. Guess the era of Public Tiki is gone outside of private residences and a handful of restaurants. Seems like oceanic arts was a major blow for decorating.
LOVE LOVE LVOE that place!!!! Best art ever - Ken Ruzic, Tom (Big Toe ) Laura, Doug Horne, Tiki Tony, the world building Bamboo-Ben, ( work by Hawaii based Brad "Tiki-Shark" Parker) All dat plus awesome Tiki carved by CRAZY AL Evans! An amazing time to be alive !
April 2018: First time watching this video. 1. Justin is very talented at finding the joy in everyday things. 2. Fake Tyler is great, but I really miss Real Tyler. 3. Sad to hear about the fate of Don the Beachcomber property. 4. It feels strange not seeing Ally in his videos. 5. I am so grateful that Adam the Woo convinced Justin to start vlogging! Justin makes this harsh world a little bit better.
I always watch your videos but I've never really stopped to think how well done they are until now. Really, they belong on the Travel Channel. Well if the Travel Channel was still good.
Great video Justin! I love when you guys discover hidden gems like this. The Tiki culture is such a rich and vibrant genre for art and style. I'm glad to see its flourishing with so many people! Even though I don't drink, I'd love to see more Tiki bars pop up and other places that are willing to embrace this style. It's such a fun environment for people to be.
I don't drink much myself either anymore; but I love places like this - atmosphere is everything. Like Bob said in that oceanic arts video, "Go to a polynesian restaurant with waterfalls and air conditioning and you feel like you're... in Eden!" ;)
I admit it. I love Tiki. This was one of my favorite videos. I live in Hawaii so I do everything in Tiki. Justin you should do more travelogue type videos of other tourist attractions. Your production and presentation is pretty professional and entertaining.
I love your videos Justin. I have been a fan for a while! Your videos just keeping getting better and better. Always looking forward to new ones and you humor to me is awesome!! Its nice to see you channel get more subscribers day by day! Keep it up and I'll keep watching :-D
Your videos are just AWESOME! My band performed at Don's a few months ago and I loved this place. I had no idea they had a Tiki Marketplace!! I'm so excited to go. Do you know when they have these?
Great video, I may have to visit when I am in Southern California again, I may also have to rewatch the oceanic arts video, and to your question on Facebook, for more randomland. Some DCA would be great
Love you're vids man. Been a subscriber since day one! I was surprised when you came to HB. You should do a thing on hb. I would love to do a collab with you! Love you vids pal!
Thank you for the video, Justin. You had to do a lot of editing! But what I'm most thankful for, is that you and Tyler only went Full Tiki and not Full Monty in one those bikinis for men
Hey, so I love ur show, I am a huge disney fan myself, and I was just wondering if u could do the history of New Orleans. Also, I wanted to know if u might be at d23 next year. Anyways... Rly love ur show!
Square or city? :) We did this one : New Orleans Square - Secrets of Pirates of the Caribbean Facade - Disneyland Dream Suite easter egg - a little thick on history - but definitely want to do something about developing NOsq. :)
I meant talk about the history of how Walt originally depicted New Orleans and his version of club 33, also some of the freaky shops in the back. Plus maybe get inside of club 33 itself, if u need help my friend is actually a member of club 33 and prob get u in on a tour or something also do u know if u can make d23
Exclusive Magic D23 is a bit out of my league in terms of price - but C33 sounds great, only it's still being remodeled now. Definitely want to get up there someday, :)
Alright, thxs tho. Anyways let me know if u need any access to those "hard to reach areas" in the parks, I have a lot of friends that work for disney and more than happy to help out, alright thxs for the response! Keep up the good work!
The woman at 1:41 . Is that the folklore woman from Mythbusters? If It is I'm really creeped out because I've been watching Mythbusters on Netflix all day
I thought about it - but not sure. With all the attention from VICE and HuffPo etc, I'm not sure either they or Disney wants to give that a lot more attention. Then I thought, well, if I only talk to one, isn't that kinda unfair to the others? Not sure. Still thinking it over. I've never really talked to any of them - at least not "in uniform"
Sounds fair. And thanks for your reply. I've learned a lot of cool new places to take my daughter at Disneyland Thanks to you. Meeyoo up the good work. Hopefully I'll get to see you one day over there. Peace!
***** I hope so! Thank you for the Kind words ! I always sincerely appreciate anyone who takes the time to say anything positive, and I'm humbled that anyone watches and shares. :)
This is like a traveling channel except it is more funny and more entertaining nice job.
Thank you! Appreciated!
so mmuch tiki. I like it. Awesome
The ending was badass.
Haha thanks dude!
Tiki decor is awesome. Blue Hawaii. Tom Selleck? Awesome. Justin, ever listen to the Bomboras? Surf Rock to the Max!
Haha. It looked like Tom Selleck circa "Mr. Baseball" days. Maybe the artist of that mug was from Japan, where that movie took place.
Wow that was really great. Im gonna be at Disneyland 11 - 17 maybe no can stop by there. I love tiki
I will definitely be in and out sometime during that period! Thanks for watching James!
Long live Tiki! Unfortunately, on the East Coast not many examples survive. Thanks for taking me to the show. Next time spent a little more time with the tiki Elvira!
Great video
Thank you! Appreciate you watching & taking the time for the kind words!!
your videos are awesome I've watched ALL OF THEM
Wow! I'm not even sure *I've* watched all of them! Thank you! :)
That place looks INCREDIBLE! If I lived nearby I would be there in a heartbeat. It's great to see so many people keeping the tiki spirit alive.
As of my searching today Don The Beachcomber & Oceanic Arts have already closed for good. Guess the era of Public Tiki is gone outside of private residences and a handful of restaurants. Seems like oceanic arts was a major blow for decorating.

What happened to the property? Is the marketplace gone?
I always watch your videos but I've never really stopped to think how well done they are until now. Really, they belong on the Travel Channel. Well if the Travel Channel was still good.

Love you're vids man. Been a subscriber since day one! I was surprised when you came to HB. You should do a thing on hb. I would love to do a collab with you! Love you vids pal!

It would interesting to know how many of those Tiki fans have seen the Enchanted Tiki Room in Disneyland?
I would guess 100%! Aside from Hawaiian shirts and Tiki mugs definitely the next top item were Disneyland shirts, pins, and paraphernalia! :)
The woman at 1:41 . Is that the folklore woman from Mythbusters? If It is I'm really creeped out because I've been watching Mythbusters on Netflix all day
She has been on TV a lot, yes, but as for Mythbusters specifically, not sure! Maybe she'll chime in here. She was very friendly and sweet!
i love that you respond to almost every comment :)
That Tom selek mug is worth some bucks now
I need to know when you are going to do a video on the new social clubs at Disneyland? Let me know if you do one, please. That would be great!
I thought about it - but not sure. With all the attention from VICE and HuffPo etc, I'm not sure either they or Disney wants to give that a lot more attention.
