  • Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations takes us on a brass-knuckled culinary tour of New York. He starts us off with amazing cured meats and cheese at Salumeria Rosi before heading to the distinguished Wakamba cocktail lounge. After a few beers to cleanse the palate, we end the night with one of the best pieces of meat we've ever had at Bourdain's old base of operations, Brasserie Les Halles.

Bourdain was a seasoned junky at many levels and , like all pros , he was forever chasing that high until he just bummed out. At that topped off point no amount of money, dope, food or fame can trip those receptors again and he knew it was time to leave the party. And he showed himself out. Selfish ? Sure, but also courageous.

I come back to this video, years after his passing, and all I've ever loved about the man shines in every video, every episode, and every other chef that he ever shared a meal with. The great Marco Pierre White, Masa Takeyama, Eric Ripier. All of them honor him as a great influence to budding and young chefs. An icon for not only being humble, but for being genuine and authentic. And most importantly, being an enthusiastic and loving friend, who wanted nothing but peace, understanding, and equality between all cultures and all people. Someone who could always make you love and laugh around others, regardless of background or origin. Someone who thrived and existed to bring everyone together and remind them to take in the smallest things and live in the moment to fall in love with the little moments with others.
I miss you, Anthony. I can never express how much of an influence you always were to me, in the kitchen and out. And to so, so many others. Words can't express how many people, young and old, you taught humility, understanding, passion, and love to. Across countless generations, peoples, cultures, beliefs, and nationalities. I hope you find solace and embrace in your afterlife, and I hope you know how loved you always were. I'm sorry if you felt alone in the end.
Rest in the sweetest peace, Anthony Bourdain. Your legacy will never be able to be matched, and your personality will always be missed across the globe. Much love ❤️

How the fck can you miss someone you've never meet in your life? Yet, I do miss Mr. Bourdain. While working as host at a popular downtown Chicago restaurant, I read
Kitchen Confidential and it inspired me to attend culinary college.
Some of the work values highlighted in that book I unknowingly adopted as my own, having read it five times. Watching him travel the world, exploring not only the food of foreign people but their culture and their hearts helped me see him as a humanitarian. Humanitarian? Fck yes! He introduce us to soooooo many different countries and their everyday people, while high lighting how food is the common thread that connects us all together. Dam I miss that dude!!!!!

I truly love this man. I really got into him unfortunately, after his passing but it has inspired to follow his goals and do better on myself. I will never know what demons he faced but I know I suffer similar ones myself. I hope to overcome all obstacles in my life with the wisdom and carefree nature Anthony Bourdain has shown to me that I believe I have in myself.

There was something very refreshing and alluring about him. He made me interested in food and travel in ways I had never considered before. He was cool. As soon as I stumbled upon" No Reservations" I was drawn in, and it became my favorite show.

I love how he describes life on the restaurant business.... its so honest thats exactly what we do... we work all day then as soon as its over we all just go to some other bar/restaurant and eat drink and smoke there...... and I loved it

Anthony Bourdain is one of the few chefs I genuinely like as a human being. I've got one of his books. He spoke like a regular guy, not some pompous Hollywood ass. He will be missed.

I've been in the food industry since I was 15 off and on of course tried many different career paths and now am going in to IT. But one thing that always sticks in my mind is how much I will always love working in a kitchen and how it allows us to be who we are, unapologetically, rude crude dudes who love a good drink, a dirty joke, and to experiment all whilst serving delicious meals and we get to see people enjoy it. I know few if any will read this but anthony bourdain in particular really brought that to light as the fun that is had in the kitchen. Stressful and hard fucking work no doubt but the kitchen will always hold a dear spot in my heart. I just wish it was a more respected well paying job than what it is. Respect to any and all back of the house. You motherfuckers are and will always remain some of the best people I've ever known or had the pleasure to work with.
