- In this episode of Munchies, we follow delivery man Bill Meier and Best Pizza's owner, Frank Pinello, as they eat some of Brooklyn's, well, best pizza. Frank also gives us a little history lesson in Brooklyn pizzerias and explains how back in the day, using top-shelf ingredients was the norm, but over the years, frugal-minded pizzaiolos started skimping on the good stuff. Frank does things the old way, and that's why his slices are the shit.

+gray scale Sorry, but why do "Italian Americans" (not actual Italians in Italy) seem to want to make out that they are the only people in the world who sit down with there family to eat food, I can assure you, the world over, families get together, large amounts of food are served and they eat. Sorry to say, you guys dont have a monopoly on it.
It's not true, in the south of Italy ( Calabria, Sicilia, Puglia, Campania etc...) it's a tradition: the family sit down everyday and eat together. It's not just a symbol or something. In the holydays or in the weekends, the WHOLE famaly eat together.
It's not only a tradition, it's a style of life, the daily life.
Food
Friends
Family
Football (or whatever your favorite sport is)
Video games
That to me, is all I want in life.
@@pleaseguy1806 I can't speak for Italy, but in Spain (similar culture to Italy) the tradition of sitting down and eating a crap ton of food together and having a good time is very, very deeply rooted. It's not the same in the US. Yeah we have Thanksgiving and stuff... but something about it is just... different. At least in my family it's like, "well we have to do this, let's make it as painless as possible", lol. In Spain these occasions are truly savored, and in Italy clearly the same. They love getting together with their family and being loud and boisterous. And epic food is what really drives the whole thing home.
Yeah everybody loves food but maybe it's the idea of so much bonding and good times around that tradition. IDK. It's similar, no doubt, but it just seems to be extra special in these parts (southern Europe).
As for why Italians don't brag about it: it's because they don't have anything to compare to it. For them it's just the way things are. But they most certainly enjoy it to the fullest. That's my impression at least. Italian-Americans have a very clear point of comparison which is the traditional American culture they are surrounded by.
Watching this today brings so many emotions. Frank has grown so much as a pizza maker, as a TV presenter and as a person. My man had two pizzerias now. And the best part is, he has paid homage to his friend and delivery man bill at Best pizza.

I now realize the significance of Frank wearing the Giacomo's shirt. I believe it was deliberate because he wants to give a shout out to his mentors. Giacomo's was the first pizza place that he worked at and where he learned the trade. I like to think he is saying thank you in a subtle way to Giacomo.
Frank is truly a stand up guy and that's why he is one of my favorite Munchies host.

If a piece of bread with something on top is a pie then a slice of toast with butter on it is a pie. It's not.

This looks really good, like actual pizza from Naples, so props to them. Americans probably aren't used to this that's why they say it's the best lol. If this restaurant was in Naples (or in most places in Italy, not all of course, we have shitty pizza too) I can assure you it wouldn't be anything special, most of the pizza places there make pizza like this or better.

im from Germany and i Visited this place when i did my east Coast Tour. the pizza is nothing special the staff was unfriendly and the dude was not working, just some indian dude. after i left i saw the owner chatting with a girl who looked like 18 years old and fixing her......what a faker
