Testing NEW rope drop strategy with Rise of the Resistance.

- We have a great rope drop strategy, but many ask "what about Rise of the Resistance?" I say DON'T rope drop Rise. But we CAN find a way to mix it into the rope drop schedule. This is a test.

I passed you near Matterhorn at the 14min mark of this video! Can't believe I saw you in person, as I've been religiously watching your videos in preparation of my trip. We came all the way down from Manitoba, Canada. We used your rope drop tips all three days, and on this day we were a little bit behind but luckily caught up later on and still managed five big guys before 10am. The crowds were bonkers that day! Probably due to all the promo tickets and window of good weather for So Cal residents. But on the previous Wednesday we had an even better rope drop experience thanks to your videos. Thanks so much! So stoked I got to see you in person.

Yeah, he's good at Disney videos
But he's a RUclipsr
He makes videos
He turns the camera on himself and talks
That's it... chill
@@chuckfan1 hey there. Curious why you needed to post this? Ego maybe? Just want to be rude for no reason? My comment is from four months ago and has up votes.
I would encourage you to be more chill if a comment from four months ago bothers you THAT much. How bizarre.
And you wrote it like...a poem? So much effort for literally no reason other than to make another person feel bad. What's the outcome here, you want me to apologize for being excited? Man that:s so lame. Thankful I'm not your level of wet blanket grumpy.
Back in the 90's, that's the same sequence i would use for rope drop. Called it the 'Morning Mountain Run'.... Space Mountain, Matterhorn Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain. Glad to see it still holds up....
Yup space mountain is always first cause it's my favorite
Love that!
Great information !!!!! Me and my GF go to Disneyland about 30 times a year now. We decided to just buy Geanie + and pay the $52 to Lightening Lane Rise of the Resistance every time and just accept the extra cost into our budget. Life is too short and not having to wait in the lines anymore really adds to our quality of life. We're both insomniacs and could never get up early enough to make a rope drop...Also, we prefer Big Thunder at night, totally different experience .
I love everything about this comment. "Life is too short..." exactly
My wife and I did the same exact first 3 rides (per your recommendation in previous videos) and we were exiting Big Thunder at 8:43 am. Brilliant way to start the day in the park. Your hard work and dedication has repeatedly proven to be very helpful to others. Thank you for your relentless researching. You speak we listen. Lol.
After so many visits to Disneyland without ever riding the main street vehicles, we finally took a day just to ride them ALL at rope drop! It was such a memorable experience meeting Steve in the fire truck, the other Steve in the vehicle Walt Disney rode for the last time, so much history! Riding in the front of the Omnibus was a highlight too! If you can, ride those vehicles! It's wonderful!! 🥰
I was there for rope drop this morning and I got into the Rise queue when it was all the way back at the market place, it was posted at 60 minutes when I got in, by the time I got to the entrance it was up to 130 minutes and I could see from there the queue all the way to section 4 so I bailed out and came back later. Thanks for the tips David! For those curious, my rotation was Matterhorn, Indy, Big Thunder then Pirates, all done by 9:30!
We go rope drop the breakfast Ronto wraps, then go get in the line for Rise.
Haha. We’ve done that exact thing.
@@just_inhawaii They're so good.:)
I do the same! With a melaroon juice!
Excellent plan!
Always love your Rope Drop tests, David. The methodology is solid, always. Thank you sir!!!
Pretty wild that you were able to hit those rides when you did. A big tip for Rise of the Resistance, just because there's a star in the app doesn't mean it's temporarily down. Click on it, and if there isn't the text saying it's closed, it's open and there's no line. I saw that on my last trip and went straight there and it was a walk on, no joke. It has just opened up for the morning at like... 9 or 10 AM? But seriously, keep your eyes on the app 👀
I LOVE how excited you get because I'm the same way! I enjoy Disneyland like a kid!
Can you do a rope drop video for parents who have bigger kids (6-10) who might be too scared of space mountain or matterhorn😊😊😊 Love your videos!!!!
we just bit the bullet and bought the ill.. so worth it.. we went in early oct. for my wifes 60th b-day... we did keep an eye out for you, but alas we didnt see you.. thnaks for all the videos
Booking a trip with your link soon! Love @Getaway Today
You said all the perfect things regarding rope drop. ❤️ my husband and I came down last November and followed your strategy. It was lovely. Thank you Fresh Baked.
Love Getaway Today! We've used them for the last 3 or 4 years.
Love your rope drop/recon videos, they are so helpful for planning when you don't get go to Disneyland very often. Thank you!
So glad you mentioned that early entry change! Just altered my entire reservation and dinner schedule due to wanting my magic morning!! Thanks as always Freshbaked!
As a Canadian saving up for my family’s first visit to Disneyland, I loved this video.
I really don’t want to use genie+, don’t want to be watching the phone when we are there.
I’m going to use this as our strategy at least one day in the park.
Thank you for what you do. So nice to sit on the couch and your around the parks with you.
The genie is helpful for seeing the que if you just go in on a limb the lines can be long. Sometimes the genie tells you a que is 5 or 10 minutes and we try and go to those rides while we can.
Thank you for these rope drop videos! Please do more 🙏
Love Fresh Baked! ❤
I think this is a really helpful video for someone that’s trying to save money/ not buy lightning lane or maybe someone from out of town who has these on their Must Do list or wants to ride these multiple times. I think though that Riding all the coasters and Rise of the Resistance before 10am might have the rest of the day feel a little anticlimactic. Ideally all these rides would be spaced out throughout the day. When I take friends and family from out of town my goal is to not only get them on the Must Do attractions but do it in a way where there is a nice flow. I want them to get a nice taste of Disneyland too so I always throw in a Fantasyland dark ride or two. Maybe even Casey Jr even if they don’t have kids. As David says it’s not a one size fits all but if your goal is to not spend a lot of time waiting in line for the big rides or don’t want to spend extra money on LL this video is a great game plan.
Got magic key passes for the first time ever! Been enjoying watching your stuff lately!
Hi Dave, my family and I, for over twenty years now, get to the park once or twice a year, and every time we do the same route. We rope drop Indy, then hit Jungle cruise, Pirates, Mansion, Winnie-the-Pooh. We skip Splash cause I don't really like riding it, and now Rise all before lunch, then Big Thunder. Then we have the rest of the day for fantasyland, toon town, and Tomorrowland. It's just just the way we've always done things since I was a kid, and plus I just love that side of the park. Just thought I'd share that. We always get everything done and ride many attractions twice with this route. Not saying either is right or wrong, just sharing.
Glad you said this. I had an annual pass 25 years ago for quite a few years and now we are taking my friends teens who aren’t that interested and they don’t like roller coasters. Or Disney. 😅 so we are trying to hook them early and I think forcing space mountain would piss them off. I was thinking Indiana Jones will be what hooks her daughter. Her son is getting excited so he may be easier. But she is at that age….so I was thinking it should be Indiana Jones then rise of the resistance. Then I think we got ‘em
Any other ideas?
Omg I CANNOT wait to try this out!! Great advice 😍
Last time we came we went the other way at rope drop. Did Big Thunder, Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise and a couple of others all well before 9. We did have Geni+ though, so knew we could get on some of the other rides later. We also lucked out with Rise of the Resistance having basically no queue, even though it was mid August on a weekend!
Great vid, David. Thank you.
David, your Invisalign is coming along nicely. Can see the difference since I talked to you in DCA last July. Looking good!
I was going to say the same thing...very noticeable change in the last 2 months!
love the series of rope drop videos
That was the fastest Rise of the Resistance queue I have ever seen! Made me laugh.
Hey David, I’d suggest another reason to rope drop Space is that it’s one of the more reliable eTicket attractions in the parks. Usually opens at park opening, rarely down like Indy, Rise, even the Matterhorn at times.
Love this! Funny that in yrs past we used to “own” the park, racing around, getting on a bunch of rides by ten am (gathering FPs like crazy.) And you, David, taught me the value of slowing the heck down and really enjoying the place. Which I now do as much as possible. Still, if you want to save time so as to slow down later without fomo, this is totally the way.
PS We did try to rope drop Rise one morning at 8am, but it wasn’t open. We left, and eventually I bought ILLs for 3 since my daughter’s bf hadn’t ever ridden it. Ah well! Waiting until 9 seems so much better!
Your vlogs are my favorite. Very informative. One point for today’s vlog. When you are not local I think your priorities change. We always role drop. In fact we try to be the first at the gate in the morning. Since we have kids who love fantasy land rides we always try to include Peter Pan and Dumbo in our rope drop strategy. We go maybe once a year and if we don’t get on those rides in the morning the line gets to long and no one wants to wait in a long for those. I would rather wait in a longer line for Thunder.
Thanks for the info about rope drop we will be there March 6th , we were trying to figure out if genie + was necessary for Wednesday.
Pro tip- Space Mountain single rider doesn’t open until 10:00ish. Also, do not waste a lightning lane on Goofy’s Fly School - do single rider!
FreshBaked Rope Drop? Yes please! That were simply mahvelous dahrlinc! Sublime!
I think I’m gonna use this strategy with the exception of space mountain. Excellent advice.
I followed his formula that he posted this past summer for the Disneyland pop drop, and it works! Got to ride Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Big Thunder, and Indiana Jones all before 10am! And that was on a Sunday reservation.
We always do Space Mountain for rope drop. Last Tues we then went to Rise, which said 55 min, but the line looked shorter. I timed it 16 min til we entered the shuttle. Then we walked on to Runaway Railroad. Such a great start!
I hate rope dropping! too stressful. too crowded.... too early! LOL I just want to be there, and be happy.
Thanks for the BTM ride!
I still think rope dropping Indiana is better
1. The lighting lane fills up faster than Space. By noon it is either gone or only 11pm slots are left.
2. The Indiana lightning lane only cuts off the outside portion of the line. Still lots of wait time inside even with LL.
3. Space Mountain has single rider which is preferable if everyone in your party is 7 years old or older.
I like your thinking!!! I tried the mickey railroad at rope drop and it broke down. I spent 2 hrs in toon town. On my next trip, I'll use your formula!!
Thanks David
While you’re mentioning getaway today I thought I’d mention we did book at the best western closest to Disneyland using getaway today and mentioning fresh baked. They were really just great. I really appreciate rope drop coverage because coming from east coast our internal clocks think a 7:30 start is a 10:30 start. I was wondering about impact of the switch to single park early mornings so thanks for covering that. Our only CA reservation is for day early entry is at Disneyland. Do you think you might be able to do an early morning entry video entering from the monorail? I’m curious about that. Thank you for all your wonderful videos. A fresh baked sighting would be a highlight of our trip for sure.
It felt like the mountain challenge again ❤!
Holy cow that line!
I saved big Thunder for end of day… was able to ride 3 times in last 20 minutes of park day. I loved it!
The thing about Space Mountain is it all depends on how long you're planning on staying. If you're a local and don't need to all day it, yeah Space is a good starting point. If you're on vacation and are going to be there from open to close, I recommend holding off. The last hour or so of the park being open, the Space Mountain lines dwindle more than other rides do. At least in my experience. I don't know why it is that way though
I agree! Frequent,y ride space mountain right before closing
Awesome rope drop!!
I love to start my Disneyland day with Pirates of the Caribbean, transports me back to my childhood 😊
Me too! I'll ride 3x in a row and always catch Captain Jack Sparrow in between rides 2 & 3.
The pseudo que is an interesting event. This happened exactly the same last I was at the park. It's nice to see people respect the que and not just walk up and wait near the entrance to bum rush it.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
Hey David, thanks for all your great info!
When there are Magic Mornings what do you suggest to do for Rope Drops for non hotel guests? And how should we reserve our parks?
Love these tips! They work..unless you try to implement them for Halooween Horror Nights...dont suggest it hhaahaah ❤
Thank you for all these videos! Love them!
These are great! I need a rope drop with a toddler that balances kid stuff and adult stuff.
I was there a few weekends ago. I saw Rise was down in the afternoon. We went to Oga's Cantina, and when we left, it was still down. I also noticed they were still offering the paid lightning lane. This told me they expected it to be up again at some time. So, we walked over there and sat down near the entrance. They said the ride had been down for about an hour. 10 minutes later, we walked right on. Watch the app.
I would have chosen Indy instead of Big Thunder during a rope drop example like this as Big Thunder is like Peter Pan in that it has a 45min self-select throughout the day whereas Indy can be upwards of 2 hours sometimes. Both are relatively interactive and fun queues though, and Big Thunder does end up transitioning better into Rise.
16:15 liking the hat backwards!
The same thing happened to us at radiator Springs. Racers, it was closed. Got a ice cream by the time we picked it up. It was open eighteen minute wait
Going as a chaperone with my daughter’s school in about a month. I’m assuming most of the kids won’t be buying a genie+, this strategy is gonna have huge for them!
Great strategy video. What about a two-day rope drop video? If this was day one, what would you suggest for day two for rope drop to hit 3-4 different major rides in the golden hour?
Love this strategy. But is it possible in the summer months?
Rope drop is the best!
That is exactly how we got on the rise. We just happened to be walking by when it opened. And the saviors up above said come on in
Had to do Matterhorn first when I did early entry as Space Mountain was down for early entry (did Peter Pan before official rope drop instead of waiting at Space). And yep. Threw my morning out of wack. 🙃
Hi there great video would you say don’t use any genie plus if u rope drop and do the rides as you said then maybe on the 4 th ride book a genie plus we are her next week Saturday coming from the United Kingdom and cannot wait thank you
The way I rope drop is Space Mountain first then Matterhorn! it is so easy :)
I go for very short ride times, examples; "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad", "Autopia", "Peter Pan's Flight", "Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin", ect. First ride depends on where in the park i want to be for my second ride. sometime ill just do jungle cruise right to Indiana jones.
if you do a fast ride first you still have great chances to save time on slow rides
We usually hit Space Mountain at 11:30pm and not much wait then Matterhorn.
We tried this and it went well. Space Mountain was quick, Matterhorn had a delayed opening. Rode Thunder Mountain, Rise was down. Rode Indy and Pirates, then back to Matterhorn. All in about two hours.
Because of the two train situation at thunder, wouldn’t that reason alone make it more logical to hit up Indiana Jones first?
At HS in WDW people rope drop and then get in line for starbucks. Also pro tip. don’t wait for the first photographer on main street. There are always more than one.
Also, I know we have agreed on this before but essentially reverse order of this if you are closing the park, especially since Rise often closes early. Also, personally, I switch Big Thunder with Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway when closing the park and will sometimes, if time isn't an issue, ride Small World and have a solo relaxing ride around the world. 😂
What day did you test this on? I'm interested to compare this to a crowd calendar.
I watched the intro a few times and can’t find any indication of which day of the week this is? we are coming soon and trying to get a feel
Awesome strategy. Will try it out this weekend! What would you change if you also had Genie Plus? Shame wasting it on anything in the morning since it's one time per ride deal. I am thinking look for rides with return times later in the day and meanwhile your 2 hour window will pass by quickly doing your route. But which ride would you recommend targeting for that?
my recommendation is to not use genie plus until at least 9:30 am. especially if you plan to do anything more than once.
Yeah tried rope dropping Rise a couple weeks back......never again. The amount of people running and little the cast members could/seem to try and stop it. Ended up waiting 45 min anyway. I'm just going to give into buying LL for it here on out.
How about if you only want to ride big thunder, Indiana Jones, and rise . What will be the best strategy? Does it work during peak days ? Thank you for your videos 😊
Park Commandos 😆love it !
Exactly how we roll .
Space
Matterhorn
Big Thunder
Haunted Mansion
Indy
Pirates
Lunch
Rise
Falcon
Story book land .
Trains
Toon T
Small world.
Do you still recommend those mountains first if you are needing to use rider swap vs going to fantasyland?
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Just watching one of the BEST Freshbaked Accustic Videos: 'Rivers of America - Acoustic sights and sounds of Disneyland' on his other POV Channel!!!
back for more..
What’s your take on the smoother side of the Matterhorn? I think Fantasyland side is smoother but is that a popular opinion?
Looked like you got some of those scream queens on Matterhorn.
Hello 👋 with younger kids would you suggest rope dropping runaway railway first before fantasyland as that is now on Genie+. We aren’t planning on buying Genie+ so trying to see if hitting this ride first vs. non LL rides is best. Thank you
35:09 I am in the background, I am FRESHBAKED FAMOUS!!!!!!! It was a trip walking past Dave. I did not want to interrupt, I wanted to say hi but I just did not want to ruin the show.
Why did the waterfall effect on big thunder change from coming directly down and breaking over the left and right to simply coming down on the left?
And is the smoke effect on the dynamite scene ever going to work again?
I went last Tuesday. Got in at 720. Did 3 rides before 930 then did rise. Only a 50 minute wait for rise to the first pre-show, which I count as a win. Anything less than an hour standby for rise I think is a good deal. I didn't use genie+ at all
Got to main Street at 720 because they were doing early entry for resort guests. I rope dropped at 8 with everyone else...just to clarify
Howdy!
Does Rise not open before 9am? I have a trip in May and we have been debating about to hit up Rise first or Space Mountain.
It's crazy how close people's heads come to the ceiling of the matterhorn. You would never get an attraction built today with spaces this tight
so sad/frustrated that they changed the early entry to 1 park per day.... really going to make it far more crowded on early entry and it is already not simple to get in the Disneyland through the gates, down mainstreat and to a ride in the short time they allow...
really takes away the reason to stay on property vs a close hotel
One time Rise went down while we were in the queue and we decided to stay put. Everyone left the queue and we walked on.
Why is the Rise stand by que lined up that way. Isn’t normally towards Hungry Bear?
My grandmother lives on the street next to convention center. Would you walk or pay for parking? 😅
I desperately want someone to try taking the monorail from DTD right at 8am and see what time that drops you in Tomorrowland, to hop right on Space Mountain. Just curious where that would put you in line.
I'm 4 for 4 rope dropping rise at different times of year. Then big thunder, Matterhorn, space mountain.
Good to know. Thank you
The people in front of you at matterhorn I can tell it's their first time 😂
After Rise I’d hit the Millennium Falcon…
Trucker hat please 🙏
Most magic keyholders are going to say no way to this suggestions, but.. If you want to be front of the gate entrance queue and therefore front of the ropes.. Park at The Anaheim Hotel, close to 6:30 or so. You will be one of the first through Harbor security - near the front of the gate lines. Minutes count.
The Anaheim Hotel let's non hotel guests part there? Don't get ticketed or towed?
@@chuckfan1 They charge non-guests same amount as Disney parking. Just park in unmarked space in front and go to front desk and pay for public parking
Under normal circumstances, if Rise broken down, it's not that bad to go hop on Splash, Pooh, Mansion, Pirates, etc, or even just go over to Fantasyland. Normally I wouldn't wait for Rise unless it's open and the outer queue is mostly empty. That being said, if it's really important to you, it might be worth waiting for it to reopen if there ISN'T a queue for it, because you might get lucky and be able to hop on with little or no wait. But the risk if that you waste 30-90 minutes of the most empty time in the park.
