5 years old and this tutorial is just as valid to day. I am so new at wood turning I don't even have my own lathe yet. So until that day comes I am enjoying watching and taking notes from people like you. Thanks for such an informative vidio - subbed 👍
Thanks for the master tips Eddie, just what I need .. I've collected a lot of short regional hardwood logs over the last 3 years and its yearning to be turned .. this will be the season that I launch into resawing and turning those ... this was very helpful, as I am a novice with the lathe..
Capt. Eddie: Newbee Turner here - Can't tell your how much you've helped me. I've already made 3 of your tool projects, saved a ton of money and gotten hooked on "Makin Shavings" THANKS
Excellent video Eddie, love the explanation on lathe height and your adaptation to it. If someone cant get stainless or tool steel for the custom tool, an old screwdriver will work as also as long as it was a good quality one in the first place.
Hey, Cap'n Eddie, you did not mention what happens if your body shape prevents you from standing as close to the lathe as you might like! Also, think about lathe height as it relates to vision- I do better work when I do not have to bend over to see what I am doing. So my lathe might be a little taller than my height would dictate.
Sure like your down to earth explanations. I work with my metal lathe and was able to fix my $45 9" craftsman wood lathe with it, I want to make some pens for Christmas for the kids. your videos have been very helpful, made my own round carbide holder and will be making the tool you showed in the video, thanks for all your help
Cap could you just wear elevator shoes with 3" soles to get the lathe center to the proper height ? Could you have built a platform and perhaps put a rubber mat on the platform for added comfort > The carbide bits from you are GREAT ! walt

Great info! And that’s a cool idea for keeping those sanding discs within handy reach!! VELCRO-BRILLIANT!

You are so kind to share and teach so much.
How have I gone so far in life without you in it? 😁 Great video, thx!
Thanks great video, what kind of lathe are you using for this video looks heavy duty.
Eddie, I learn a lot from your videos. I enjoy watching you. I for one am here to learn, not to criticize your presentations. Keep up your good work.

Okay, so the instructions that came with the lathe is wrong. That is okay, it is a Craftsman.
Nice video... I'd stick with a platform, and try not to trip off of it!
I wet to your website And found the carbide Cutters but do you sell the 3 lathe tool used
in this Video?
